Description

DESCRIPTION
Chair with adjustable backrest
Object of the invention
The object of this invention relates to a chair with a backrest in the position of a user on the chair to improve comfort in its use, particularly but not exclusively, to improve comfort at mealtimes.
State of the prior art
One of the fundamental functions of chair use is for sitting at mealtimes. However, this type of chair is usually straight-backed and not really comfortable. The reason for this discomfort is that, in order to eat - in general - one has to lean forward slightly, whereas most chairs have the backrest tilted slightly backwards. Thus, when a user sits down to eat, it is barely possible to rest the back ergonomically on the backrest of any chair, only on the lower part of the backrest.
Therefore, in order to be able to rest the back on the backrest of the chair, the chair should have at least one vertical position or even be tilted forward at the top. The problem with this type of chair is that it is comfortable for eating, but not for resting as it keeps the back straight or leaning forward. This is why, on straight-backed chairs, the user tilts the chair backwards, supporting the chair only on the two back legs. This may result in a fall and/or the back legs of the chair breaking.
Document WO 2017/089638 A1 describes an improved self-adjustable backrest device formed from a movable plate that pivots with respect to a horizontal shaft, being connected together by means of a first set of hubs, and wherein said shaft is also connected to a second set of hubs that are in turn associated with a supporting member that can either be the backrest of an existing chair or a backrest that forms part of the device itself. of the invention
One object of the invention is a chair that offers perfect ergonomic comfort while eating, supporting the back perfectly while eating but which, when it is time to rest, for example when having an after-dinner conversation, allows a slightly reclining position to be achieved without endangering the integrity of the user or the chair. This is achieved with the chair of the claims accompanying this description.
Brief description of the
Figure imgf000003_0001
The following is a very brief description of a series of drawings that help to understand the invention better and which relate expressly to one embodiment of said invention, which is illustrated as a non-limiting example thereof.
FIG.1 shows a front view and a profile view of the chair with adjustable backrest, which is the object of this invention.
FIG.2 shows a detailed view of the backrest (2) and the articulation (3) of the chair with adjustable backrest, which is the object of this invention.
FIG.3 shows a view of three positions of use (3A, 3B, 3C) of the chair with adjustable backrest, which is the object of this invention.
Detailed description of a practical embodiment of the invention
As can be seen in the attached figures, the chair with adjustable backrest, which is the object of the present invention, comprises a structure (1) connected to a backrest (2), that is slightly curved, by means of an articulation (3) in a horizontal position (3).
In a first preferred embodiment, the articulation (3) comprises a strap system (3a) fitted with a hardness adjustment screw (3b), which in turn is positioned at two thirds of the height of the backrest (2), in the centre of the same.
In a second preferred embodiment, the hardness adjustment screw (3b) is in its tightest position to reduce the level of friction of the pivot axis.
In a first particular embodiment, as shown in figure 3A, when the user sits with his bottom positioned all the way back in the chair, the backrest obtains a fully upright position that provides a straight support for the back.
In a second particular embodiment, as shown in figure 3B, when a more relaxed position is sought (such as drinking coffee or chatting at the table) and the user’s position moves forward a few centimetres, the backrest tilts with the user so that his back is fully supported.
In a third particular embodiment, as shown in figure 3C, we can obtain a backrest tilt of close to 30 degrees with the back fully supported by the backrest.

Claims

1.- Chair with adjustable backrest characterised in that it has a structure (1) connected to a backrest (2), that is slightly curved, by means of an articulation (3) in a horizontal position.
2.- Chair with adjustable backrest according to claim 1 wherein the articulation (3) comprises a strap system (3a) fitted with a hardness adjustment screw (3b). 3.- Chair with adjustable backrest according to claims 1 and 2 wherein the articulation
(3) is positioned at two thirds of the height of the backrest (2), in the centre of the same.
4.- Chair with adjustable backrest according to claims 1 to 3 wherein the hardness adjustment screw (3b) is in its tightest position to reduce the level of friction of the pivot axis.
