Description

COMPRESSIBLE AIR PURIFICATION DEVICE
FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to air purification device and particularly to air purification device which is compressible and compact.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
[0002] Air pollution refers to the release of pollutants into the air. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), since 2019, 99% of the world population has been living in places where the WHO air quality guidelines levels are not met. These pollutants are harmful not only for the environment but also for all living beings. In humans, they are responsible for number of pollution-related diseases like asthma, heart disease, COPD, stroke and lung cancer. Additionally, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), each year air pollution is responsible for nearly seven million deaths around the globe.
[0003] The air pollutants are of different types such as gases like carbon monoxide, nitrous oxides, ammonia, sulphur dioxide, methane and chlorofluorocarbons as well as both organic and inorganic particulates.
[0004] The most common sources of household pollution, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires.
[0005] In view of the ever-increasing need of the clean and pure air, many air purification devices and systems have been developed for indoor air purification in the recent time. Reference may be made to US Publication No. 20180085706 A which covers the system for purifying indoor air, wherein the system comprises a packed column for contacting an incoming air stream with a purifying solution to produce an outgoing air stream; one or more devices for cooling or maintaining the incoming air stream, the purifying solution; an optional filter for removing particulates entrained in the outgoing air stream; and an apparatus for adding water vapours to the outgoing air stream to produce a purified, air exhaust that is humidified. [0006] US patent No. 7276100 B2 discloses air purifying device comprising a housing including an air inlet and an air outlet; a fan including a motor and a fan blade; a filter assembly positioned within said housing between said air inlet and wherein said fan wherein the said filter assembly including a frame and a first filter element mounted to said frame.
[0007] Reference may be made to another US Publication viz. US20050164625 A is directed to a combination of air purifier and ventilator that combines air purifier and ventilator for not only effectivelyremoving dust floating in air, but also ventilating room air.
[0008] Unfortunately, most of the air purification devices available today are bulky and non-flexible. Therefore, they occupy more space which increases their transportation cost. Further, most devices available today in the market are quite expensive and are unaffordable for many people living in developing as well under developed countries.
[0009] Therefore, there exist the needs of the air purification devices which are effective and yet inexpensive and which can circumvent the problems associated with currently available devices. Also, there is also a need of the air purification devices that are compact, portable and are easy to use.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[00010] The following presents a simplified summary of the invention to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the invention. This summary is not an extensive overview of the present invention. It is not intended to identify the key /critical elements of the invention or to delineate the scope of the invention. Its sole purpose is to present some concept of the invention in a simplified form as a prelude to a more detailed description of the invention presented later.
[00011] The gap or the space between the filters and the fan is of utmost importance in the air purification devices. In case, there is no space, non-uniform suction of the indoor air shall be there and polluted air will not be removed or absorbed completely. Due to this reason, in most commercially available air purification devices available today, the filters and the fan have a gap so that the uniformity of air suction can be achieved. In order to achieve that gap between the filter and fan; the size of the air purification device is increased which makes the device bulky and non -flexible. As a result of this, they occupy more space which increases their transportation cost. The present invention aims to circumvent this issue by providing a compact and compressible air purification device. The present invention achieves this by providing the air purification device with the specially designed case or the housing which may be compressed or elongated as and when required, equipping the filter assembly with the strip layer which is made up flexible material which can expand and collapse as when require and finally by the use of fan wherein the blades can be folded inwardly together when the air purification device is not in use.
[00012] Accordingly, the object of the present invention is to provide air purification device which can be used for purification of air.
[00013] Another object of the present invention is to provide air purification device that is compressible.
[00014] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an air purification device which makes transportation easy, is cost effective and efficient.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[00015] While the specification concludes with claims that particularly point out and distinctly claim the invention, it is believed that the advantages and features of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following more detailed description of expressly disclosed exemplary embodiments taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. The drawings and detailed description which follow are intended to be merely illustrative of the expressly disclosed exemplary embodiments and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention as set forth in the appended claims. In the drawings:
[00016] Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of an air purification device, according to an embodiment herein. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[00017] The exemplary embodiments described herein detail for illustrative purposes are subject to many variations in the development design. It should be emphasized, however, that the present invention is not limited to a particular formulation as illustrated and described herein. It is understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but these are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present invention. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
[00018] The use of terms “including,” “comprising,” or “having” and variations thereof herein are meant to encompass the items listed thereafter and equivalents thereof as well as additional items.
[00019] Further, the terms, “an” and “a” herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced item.
[00020] In the present invention, due to its unique structure of having compressible foldable extensions which can be stretched outwardly, the gap between filter and fan is created only when the air purification device is to be used. In contrast, since the extensions are folded when the device is not being used; the gap between the filter and fan is eliminated which makes the device compact and portable.
[00021] The device 1000 comprises a case or housing 100, a mesh layer 200, fan 300, a plurality of filter layers or filter assembly 400, an inlet 500 and an outlet 600 in the device.
[00022] The air purification device of the present invention is provided with a mechanism whereby it is expandible or can be stretched when the air purification device is to be used and is compressible when the device is not in use, thereby making it very compact. [00023] The case or the housing 100 is provided with extensions within it which are releasably attached to one another. These extensions are folded or compressed to form zigzag or oppositely disposed folds when the device is not in use, thereby retaining the device in its primary, compacted form. In contrast, when the air purification device is to be used for removing various particles and elements and providing cleaner air, the foldable extensions are stretched outwardly.
[00024] Case as mentioned herein above is made of any lightweight material such as aluminium, aluminium alloys, magnesium alloys, carbon fibres and polymer composites.
[00025] Air Purification device is further provided with the mesh layer 200 which blocks the entry of large matters suspended in the air such as papers, leaves etc. Mesh layer may be made of metallic wire or fibre or plastic or any similar material.
[00026] Filter or plurality of filters or filter assembly 400 used in the present invention may be configured to remove different sized particles and elements from the air and may be selected from HEPA filter and active carbon filters. The elements and particles as mentioned above may be different gases such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, lead, viruses, bacteria, dust, pollen, mould spores, odours, toxic fumes, dust mites and coal by-products. Filter layers or filter assembly may be configured to filter particle sizes up to 2.5 ppm received from the inlet 500.
[00027] In an embodiment, filter assembly is a pleated filter assembly.
[00028] In another embodiment, pleated filter assembly is attached to a plurality of strip layers in perpendicular direction. Strips are made of flexible material which can easily collapse and expand such as cloth, fiber, polymer, and the like. The attachment of strip layers facilitates formation of air pockets for enhanced air filtration.
[00029] Further, use of strip layers made of flexible material with the pleated mesh filter assembly, enables pleated filter assembly to be folded in a collapsed state, thereby compacting its size. Pleated filter assembly in collapsible state occupies less space and makes it possible for easy storage and transportation. Further, during use and installation, it allows the expansion of the detachable pleated air purifier cartridge at its optimal length and at the same time, restricting further expansion beyond the permissible optimal length. [00030] Air comes out from the electric fan 300 in the air purifier. It has a small electric motor with the plurality of blades attached to it. Fan may be made from at least one of a group of metal, laminated wood or plastic.
[00031] Motor provides the support to the blades; wherein the blades are radially spaced about the rotational axis.
[00032] In an embodiment, when the air purification device is not running, the blades of the fan are folded inwardly together. As the fan is started, the blades are thrown outwardly by centrifugal force, at which time they start rotating 360 °.
[00033] In an alternate embodiment, the blades may be manually folded inwardly together and can be manually extended outward.
[00034] The fan in the air purification device makes the indoor air circulate and the polluted air is removed or absorbed after passing through the air filter screen in the machine through the outlet 600.
