Definitions
- This invention relates to edging arrangement for surface paving by using paving stones, having a base plate, a support plate perpendicularly fixed to the base plate, a fixing grid connected to the edge of the base plate, and at least one hole for a ground nail or soil spike.
- Paving elements, or paving stones are primarily used to supply outdoor walkways and roads with artificial paving.
- Paving elements are mainly made of concrete in various geometric shapes, the most common of which is the rectangular design.
- the common feature of the different designs is that they are equipped with at least two parallel main surfaces, one of which is the walking surface, while the other is resting on a bed of e.g. sand formed on the ground.
- the paving elements are placed next to each other on a bed previously prepared as mentioned above. Elements that are placed next to each other tightly, without gaps, can strain against each other, and as a result, their edges and comers can be damaged or chipped. For this reason e.g.
- spacers are formed on the side surfaces of the paving elements different from the two parallel main surfaces, which form a narrow gap of a few mm between the elements after laying.
- the gaps of the completed walking surface are usually filled with fine sand, while so called curb stones are placed on the edges of the completed walking surface, which prevent the paving stones from moving out.
- the displacement of the paving stones will definitely occur over time as a result of stress and the unity of the walking surface is broken, gaps, height differences, and uneven bump surfaces are formed that are incompatible with the function.
- the situation is similar if the walking surfaces are bordered directly e.g., by grass, where one side of the curb stone leans to the ground, it may move in the direction of the ground over time and no longer holds the paving stones made up the walking surface together.
- Edging arrangement described e.g. in publication CH 708410 Bl is used to fix the curb stone in a long lasting way.
- the edging arrangement is placed along the outermost elements of the surface paving, and it contains a rigid support element into the groove of which the curb stone can be inserted.
- the groove is bounded by a first wall and a second wall, as well as a base plate, which is connected on one side of the groove to the grid arranged under the outermost paving stones and is also equipped with a hole through which the base plate can be nailed to the ground with soil nails.
- a curb stone support can be arranged, and a hole for a ground nail can also be created here.
- our objective with the invention is to create an edging arrangement for paving stones that form a walking surface, which effectively fixes the paving stones arranged on the edge of the walking surface even without placing a curb stone.
- Our object is achieved by creating an edging arrangement for surface paving having a base plate, a support plate perpendicularly fixed to the base plate, a fixing grid connected to the edge of the base plate, and at least one hole for a ground nail, and the hole for the ground nail is formed on an edge of the fixing grid lying farthest from the base plate in cross section of the edging arrangement.
- a part of the hole for ground nail is preferably formed on the fixing strap arranged on the farthest edge opposite from the base plate of the fastening grid.
- the base plate is preferably connected to the fixing grid by gluing or welding.
- a groove is formed on one of the base plate and the fixing grid, while a rib is formed on the other.
- the groove is preferably formed on the edge of the base plate, and the fixing grid is clamped in the groove by its entire thickness.
- the thickness of the base plate, the thickness of the fixing plate, and the thickness of the fixing strap are preferably equal. Between the side of the support plate oppositely arranged to the ground hole and the base plate a stiffening element is arranged, and preferably two parallel support plates are attached to the base plate.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the edging arrangement according to the invention.
- Fig. la is a cross-section of a further embodiment of the edging arrangement according to the invention.
- Fig. lb is a perspective view of a still further embodiment of the edging arrangement according to the invention.
- Fig. 2 is a cross-section of the preferred embodiment of the edging arrangement according to the invention, along the line A-A of Fig. 1,
- Figure 3 shows the installed position of a preferred embodiment of the edging arrangement according to the invention in cross section
- Figure 4 is a partial section of the edging arrangement according to the invention.
- FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the edging arrangement 1 according to the invention.
- the edging arrangement 1 has a base plate 2 with a thickness of VI and a support plate 3 fixed perpendicularly to the base plate 2.
- a fixing grid 5 with a thickness V is connected to the edge 4 of the base plate 2, preferably by gluing, for example.
- a fixing strap 7 with a thickness V2 preferably equal to the thickness VI of the base plate 2 is attached to the edge 6 of the fixing grid 5 farthest from the base plate 2, which is equipped with at least one hole 8 for a ground nail S. The hole 8 continues under the fixing strap 7, through the fixing grid 5.
- the holes 8 are preferably arranged along the length of the fastening strap 7 in such a way that at least one hole 8 is located under each paving stone to be placed on the fixing grid 5 in order that the number of ground nails S to be inserted into the holes 8 along the unit length of the paving stone edge, e.g. per meter, conforms the number of paving stones along the edge of the edging arrangement 1. Therefore, the distance measured between adjacent holes 8 is preferably between 8 and 16 cm, but this distance can reach 1 m or even more in the case of large surface paving stones. Fig. la.
- the fixing strap 7 can be formed in one piece with the fixing grid 5 or the holes 8 are formed entirely in the material of the fixing grid 5.
- the groove 4a is formed on the edge 4 of the base plate 2, and the fixing grid 5 is held in the groove 4a by its entire thickness V.
- the dimensions of the paving stone to be laid are such that no single paving stone bridges the distance between the edge 4 of the base plate 2 and the fixing strap 7.
- the thickness VI of the base plate 2, the thickness V of the fixing grid 5, and the thickness V2 of the fixing strap 7 are equal.
- Figure 2 shows a cross section of the edging arrangement 1 according to the invention along the line A-A of Figure 1.
- stiffening element 10 is arranged advantageously.
- the function of the stiffening element 10 is to prevent the bending of the support plate 3 in the direction of the side 9.
- the base plate 2, the support plate 3 and stiffening element 10 can be made as a single unit, e.g., made of plastic or metal, preferably by pressing.
- the base plate 2 and the fixing strap 7 are preferably connected to the fixing grid 5 by gluing, but in the case of elements made exclusively of plastic, it is also possible to use plastic welding.
- a fixing grid 5 made of metal mesh can be glued or welded to the unit.
- FIG. 3 shows a cross-section of a further preferred embodiment of the edging arrangement 1 according to the invention.
- two parallel support plates 3, 3a are attached to the base plate 2.
- the use of the two support plates 3,3a is advisable e.g., when a row of curb stones K made of the same material as paving stones T must be placed around the paved surface.
- the use of two support plates 3,3a facilitates the precise placement of K curb stones on the one hand, and it also holds them in place during use, on the other hand.
- Figure 4 shows the details of the edging arrangement 1 in cross-section. It can be seen in the figure that the holes 8 of the fastening strap 7 are preferably formed by countersinking, so that the paving stones T placed on the fixing strap 7 are located in the same plane as the base plate 2. In this case, the form of the countersunk head of the ground nails S is the same as the form of the holes 8.
- the paving stone edging arrangement 1 has a base plate 2, a support plate 3 perpendicularly fixed to the base plate 2, and a fixing grid 5 connected to the edge 4 of the base plate 2, and at least one hole 8 for ground nail S, and the hole 8 for ground nail S is formed on the opposite edge 6 of the fixing grid 5 farthest from the base plate 2.
- a part of the hole 8 for ground nail S is preferably formed on the fixing strap 7 arranged on the farthest edge 6 opposite from the base plate 2 of the fastening grid 5.
- the base plate 2 is preferably connected to the fixing grid 5 by gluing or welding.
- a groove 4a is formed on one of the base plate 2 and the fixing grid, while a rib 5a is formed on the other.
- the groove 4a is preferably formed on the edge 4 of the base plate 2, and the fixing grid 5 is clamped in the groove 4a by its entire thickness.
- the thickness VI of the base plate 2, the thickness V of the fixing plate 5, and the thickness V2 of the fixing strap 7 are preferably equal.
- a stiffening elements 10 is arranged, and preferably two parallel support plates 3 are attached to the 2 base plate.
- the advantage of the paving stone edging arrangement 1 according to the invention as compared to the state-of-the-art solution is primarily that it effectively attaches the paving stones arranged along the edge of the paved surface to the inner paving stones T making up the paved surface, even without placing a curb stone at the edge, because a force acting in the plane of the paved surface outwardly to the curb stone T, or in the absence of this, to a paving stone arranged along the edge of the paved surface, does not result in the displacement of the ground nail S, therefore its fixing effect is maintained.
