The invention relates to an on-vehicle bike rack with increased efficiency and reliability which can be connected to the roof rack positioned on the top of vehicles to carry the items, equipment, loads or more than one bikes the users want to carry.
The invention relates to an on-vehicle bike rack movable in three axes (forward-back, right-left, up-down) which can be easily mounted and demounted to the roof rack positioned on the vehicle roof without causing elevation difference and in accordance with the inclined structure of the vehicle roofs.
Prior art
The internal volume of vehicles is insufficient for the items, equipment, loads or bikes the drivers want to carry. For this reason, these are carried via apparatuses connected on the vehicle roofs remaining outside of the vehicle. Basically, the problem is solved in a similar way. The load is carried on the roof of the vehicle by mounting special apparatuses to the vehicle roof profiles mounted by vehicle producers. Said apparatuses are custom produced in line with the brand and models of the vehicles or provided by producing apparatuses adjustable for many vehicles. In addition to these apparatuses, apparatuses are also designed to carry bikes. However, the on vehicle carriage apparatuses used currently can move only in two axes as forward-back and right-left. The roofs of the vehicles are generally lower on the front and higher on the back. This causes elevation difference in the carriers mounted to front and back in the current systems moving only in two axes. This in turn effects the reliability adversely in carrying both the loads and the bike.

The bike rack with increased efficiency and reliability which can be connected to the top of vehicles to carry the items, equipment, loads or more than one bikes (9) the users want to carry are shown in the attached figures.
The rack in the attached figures is connected on the roof of the vehicle in such as way to remain outside of the vehicle as seen. Said rack consists of the roof rack (2), the bike rack (3) and the body holder pipe (6) in the most general terms (Figure - 1 ).
The roof rack (2) shown in Figure 3 is used to carry only loads, items, etc. without bike rack (3). In the rack, bike rack (3) is connected to the roof rack (2) to safely carry at least one bike (9). The detail of engaging the roof rack (2) and bike rack (3) is explained below in detail.
As seen in Figure - 4, the roof rack (2) consists of two mutually connected roof profiles (12) rectangular to the mutually connected two rail profiles (13) parallel to each other. The roof profiles (12) having a certain distance in between are connected with said ray profile (13) via the bracket assemblies (10, 11 ) on their ends. Right bracket assembly (10) and /or left bracket assembly (11 ) have the same design and are connected in the same way. Bracket assemblies (10, 11 ) are composed of brackets (15, 16) placed on the right and left side of the raid profile (13). There is at least one long nut (21 ) in the bracket assemblies (10, 11 ) and at least one adjustment bolt (22) placed into the long nut (21 ). Right bracket (15) and left bracket (16) are interconnected with adjustment bolt (22). When the adjustment bolt (22) between the right bracket (15) and the left bracket (16) is fastened sufficiently, right bracket (15) moves and grips and tightens the rail profile (13). In this case, the right bracket assembly (10) and/or left bracket assembly (11 ) are mounted on the rail profile (13) on the vehicle. The stoppers (14) in Figure - 4 are on both ends to close the end parts of the roof profile (12).
The right bracket (15) and the left bracket (16) are connected to roof profile (12) with the help of the in profile bracket (18) and the bracket bolt (19) placed inside the in profile bracket (18). The roof profile (12) has a rail structure that ensures that in profile bracket (18) moves inside the roof profile (12). By the help of this feature, in profile bracket (18) moves in the direction of the roof profile (12) and brought to the desired location and is fixed via bracket bolt (19). By this way, the distance between the right bracket assembly (10) and the left bracket assembly (11 ) can be adjusted. There are adjustment bracket (17) and up and down adjustment bolt (20) inside the right bracket (15). With the up and down adjustment bolt (20) within the adjustment bracket (17), said bracket assemblies (10, 11 ) can move up and down (Figure - 5, Figure - 6). With bracket assemblies (10, 11 ) fixed to the desired location with up and down movement, the elevation difference between the front and back of the vehicle can be adjusted. The roof profiles (12) in the front and back are in the same height. In this case, different from the state of the art, bracket assemblies (10, 11 ) having the capability to move up and down realises the mounting to the roof profile (12) suitably to the inclined structure of the vehicles roofs, without forming any elevation difference.
As seen in Figure - 8, mutual holes (23) are opened with certain intervals on the mutually placed roof profiles (12). Bike rack profile (3) is connected to the roof profiles (12) via the mutually placed holes (23). In Figure - 9, A-A section view of bike rack profile (3) is seen. Roof rack (2) is connected to the roof profile (12) by means of roof profile connecting bolt (24) (Figure - 10). Bike rack profile surface (27) having a milled structure covering the roof rack (2) provides resistance (Figure - 11 ). Bike rack profile (3) and in profile holder (25) are connected on the roof rack (2) by the help of bolts. In profile holder (25) moves within the bike rack profile (3) and is fixed at the desired location and by this way, mountability for more than one vehicle in the rack is ensured.
The bike rack profile (3) is provided with wheel pressers (4) to connect the front and back wheels of the bike (9). Wheel pressers (4) are connected to the bike rack profile (3) via wheel presser bolt (26). The in-profile holder (25) in which the wheel presser bolt (26) is located provides movement to the wheel pressers (4) and enables it to be adjusted in line with the distance between the front and back wheels of the bike (9). There are 6 wheel pressers (4) one in the front and one in the back mutually placed for each bike (9) as seen in Figure - 1 . Depending on the producer wishes, the number of wheel pressers (4) can change depending on the number of the bikes (9). Wheels placed as front and back are fixed to the wheel presser (4) via wheel stretcher (5). To realize the safe carrying, the upper part of the bike (9) should also be fixed. Fixing the upper part of the bike (9) is realized by means of the body holder pipe (6) in the cylindrical form and connected to the bike rack profile (3). Body holder pipe (6) is erected as a stud to the bike rack profile (3). Body holder pipe (6) is connected to the back rack profile (3) via body holder bracket (7). In-profile holder (25) within the bike rack profile (3) is connected to body holder bracket (7) by means of bolt. In-profile holder (25) moves along the bike rack profile (3) direction and enables the bike (9) to be connected from the appropriate point. The upper part of the bike (9) is fixed with the bike body holder (8) located on the body holder pipe (6) (Figure - 1 , Figure - 2). Each bike (9) placed on the bike rack profile (3) is connected by at least one bike body holder (8). By means of bike rack profile (3) the upper and lower parts of the bike (9) is easily connected to the roof rack (2) and hold fixed.
With the present invention, an on vehicle bike rack (9) movable in three axes (forward- back, right-left, up-down) which can be easily mounted and demounted to the roof profile (12) of the vehicle roof without causing elevation difference and in accordance with the inclined structure of the vehicle roofs is obtained.
