Abstract

Device for pivoting the milling head of a portal milling machine for processing of staple fibre bales.

Description

A PORTAL MILLING MACHINE FOR STAPLE FIBER
Since 1960s, milling is applied for processing flocks of staple fibre bales. In recent decades the tower milling has established itself as the widely used model. Besides, there are inclined milling, which enable an operation without height-balancing of the bales and without manual gleaning of the remaining bales, and portal milling machines.
The portal milling machines are advantageous when the milling head is used with bigger operating width or increased weight. The objective of the invention is to combine the advantageous of the tower milling and portal milling. The pivoting work and the portal movements shall be combined. However, there is a problem that the bigger operating width necessitates a bigger lever action and therefore, very rigid and materially expensive constructions are necessary in order to avoid a tilting or greater pressure on the conveyor guidance. In order to enable pivoting of the milling head, in the previous constructions the guidance for the up-and-down movement of the milling head was executed separately from the pivoting mechanism. This leads to a greater complexity and bigger space requirement.
The objective of the invention is to create a simple device for lifting and lowering and pivoting the milling head in the portal milling machines. In accordance with the invention, this takes place, for example, at least one sliding surface is placed between a pipe and a connector sleeve. The milling head is fitted to the connector sleeve. Between the pipe and the connector sleeve a sliding material is placed, the milling head is pivoted around the fixed pipe and thus receives its guidance with up-and-down movement.
The pipe is advantageously designed as a rectangular pipe, which simultaneously serves the purpose of vertical transportation of the fibres in to the suction channel positioned along the guide-way of the milling head.
Example:
The rectangular pipe is shaped as a round profile by padding it with nylon profiles, with spaces in between. The milling head is fitted to the connector sleeve and can rotate the pipe profile and can move up and down along the pipe profile. The portal construction frees the pipe profile off the weight of the milling head when moving up and down and turning, by this the sliding surfaces are not pressed much. Around the same pipe profile the turning of the connecting support is done by the same design.

3) Device in accordance with Claim 1) and 2) is characterized in that the pipe, in interior, serves the purpose of transporting the fibre.
4) Device in accordance with Claim 1) - 3) is characterized in that the connecting support to the other portal support rotates around the same axis.
5) Device in accordance with Claim 1) is characterized in that as pipe a rectangular pipe is used.
6) Device in accordance with Claim 1) - 5) is characterized in that balls can serve as sliding element.
