Description

A DOOR CAP WITH A DECORATIVE PART FOR COOLING DEVICES
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a door cap with a decorative part, which is suitable for use in cooling devices.
Background of the Invention
Cooling devices such as refrigerators comprise at least one body; at least one inner compartment located in the body for placing the items to be cooled; at least one door for access into the inner compartment; and at least one cooling system for cooling the inner compartment. Especially in household cooling devices, said cooling system comprises at least one compressor; at least one condenser; at least one evaporator; at least one capillary tube; and at least one refrigerant. Here, pressure of the refrigerant is changed by the compressor and the capillary tube, so that the condenser heats up while the evaporator cools. In other words, the cooling process is carried out by transferring the heat energy from the environment of the evaporator to the environment of the condenser.
In order for the cooling devices to operate efficiently, the door and body sections must have thermal insulation properties. For this reason, doors of the cooling devices generally comprise an inner panel; an outer panel; and a foam-like insulation material filled between the inner panel and the outer panel. Here, cap sections are provided on upper and/or lower parts of the door to both strengthen the door and attach it to the body. Said door caps are generally made of plastic materials. However, decorative parts can be connected to said door caps in order to give the doors an aesthetic appearance. Especially in inox type cooling device doors, since the door and body are metallic in color, it is preferred to use metallic colored decorative parts on the door cap as well. However, in such applications, it is difficult to produce said decorative par in desired colors. In particular, in order for the decorative part to be connected to the cap body perfectly, there should be no protrusions, such as burrs, on the decorative part after the production and dyeing stages. Brief of the Invention
The present invention discloses a door cap which is suitable for use in a cooling device comprising at least one body and at least one door connected to the body, the door cap comprising at least one cap body; and at least one decorative part connected to said cap body. The decorative part is subjected to at least one visual enhancement process and comprises at least one housing in the form of a recess, which is located on a surface of the decorative part connected to the cap body; at least one runner for hanging the decorative part on at least one hanger element during the visual enhancement process, and which extends outwardly from said housing in the form of a protrusion; at least one cavity located in an area where the runner is connected to the housing, and enabling the runner to be separated from the housing after the visual enhancement process.
Thanks to the use of a decorative part in the door cap according to the present invention, the door cap can have a desired decorative appearance. Since the runner, cavity and housing details are provided on said decorative part, it is ensured that there is no untreated area during the visual enhancement process of the decorative part, and as a result of this process, any kinds of protrusions on the decorative part preventing connection to the cap body is prevented.
Object of the Invention
An object of the present invention is to provide a door cap with a decorative part, which is suitable for use in cooling devices.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a door cap that is easy and practical to manufacture.

of the Invention
Cooling devices such as refrigerators comprise at least one inner compartment (such as a cooling or freezing compartment) for placing the items to be cooled. Access to the inner compartment is provided by at least one door connected to the device body. Said doors comprise at least one door cap which provides their connection with the body. The door caps may comprise a decorative section according to user preferences. Therefore, the present invention provides a door cap is with a decorative part, which is suitable for use in cooling devices.
The door cap (3) according to the present invention, as illustrated in Figures 1-10, is suitable for use in a cooling device (S) comprising at least one body (1) and at least one door (2) connected to the body (1), and comprises at least one cap body (3a); and at least one decorative part (4) connected to said cap body (3a). The decorative part (4) is subjected to at least one visual enhancement process (e.g. chrome plating or dyeing, etc.) and comprises at least one housing (4c) in the form of a recess, which is located on a surface of the decorative part (4) connected to the cap body (3a); at least one runner (4a) for hanging the decorative part (4) on at least one hanger element (5a) during the visual enhancement process, and which extends outwardly from said housing (4c) in the form of a protrusion; at least one cavity (4b) located in an area where the runner (4a) is connected to the housing (4c), and enabling the runner (4a) to be separated from the housing (4c) after the visual enhancement process.
In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the door cap (3) is used on a door (2) of a cooling device (S). Here, for the production of the door cap (3), the cap body (3a) and decorative part (4) are produced first. These components are preferably made of a plastic material by an injection method. After the aforementioned production processes, at least one visual enhancement process is applied to the decorative part (4) before the decorative part (4) is connected to the cap body (3a). This process can be chrome plating or a dyeing process in various colors and/or patterns. During the application of the visual enhancement process, the decorative part (4) must be attached to a hanger body (5) by means of the hanger elements (5a). However, during this attachment process, as it is not possible to chrome plate or dye the parts that contact the hanger elements (5a), discontinuities occur on the contact surface. In order to prevent this, at least one runner (4a) is used in the decorative part (4) used in the door cap (3) according to the present invention. Said runner (4a) enables the decorative part (4) to be hung on the hanger elements (5a) during the application of the visual enhancement process. After the visual enhancement process is applied, the runner (4a) is separated from the decorative part (4). Here, the runner (4a) is connected to the decorative part (4) through a housing (4c) in order to prevent a protrusion (e.g. a burr) from remaining on the decorative part (4) that will prevent the connection to the cap body (3a), after the runner (4a) is separated from the decorative part (4). Thus, even if a burr-like protrusion remains on the decorative part (4) when the runner (4a) is separated from the decorative part (4), such a protrusion remains inside the housing (4c) and does not prevent the attachment of the decorative part (4) to the cap body (3a). There is also at least one cavity (4b) in the area where the runner (4a) is connected to the housing (4c), in order to both minimize the size of the protrusion that may occur and to easily separate the runner (4a) from the housing (4c).
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the decorative part (4) comprises at least one connecting element (4d) for connecting the decorative part (4) to the cap body (3a). Said connecting element (4d) is preferably in the form of a tab and provides a practical and reliable connection of the decorative part (4) to the cap body (3a).
In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the door cap (3) comprises at least one (preferably two opposite) supporting element (3b) connected to at least one edge portion of the cap body (3a). Said supporting element (3b) ensures the cap body (3a) to be securely connected to a door (2).
In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, the door cap (3) comprises at least one bushing (3c) which is located on an upper side of the cap body (3a). Said bushing (3c) can be used as a hinge housing during the assembly of a door (2) using the door cap (3) to the body (1).
Thanks to the use of a decorative part (4) in the door cap (3) according to the present invention, the door cap (3) can have a desired decorative appearance. Since the runner (4a), cavity (4b) and housing (4c) details are provided on said decorative part (4), it is ensured that there is no untreated area during the visual enhancement process of the decorative part (4), and as a result of this process, any kinds of protrusions on the decorative part (4) preventing connection to the cap body (3a) is prevented.
