- Oral health plays an important role in public health, community health and even social welfare. Oral health is related to the overall health and well-being of human beings in several ways. The ability to chew and swallow human food is essential for obtaining the nutrients needed for health. In addition to affecting nutritional status, oral health also affects expression and self-confidence. Because dental care is so expensive, dental diseases impose a heavy financial burden on society. Therefore, oral health is an important part of public health that focuses on preventing the health of the individual and society. Many health experts believe that oral hygiene is a window to directly observe a person's overall health. Tooth decay is the most common dental disease in our country and in many developing countries. Oral health, on the other hand, has far-reaching effects on health.
- microbial plaque The destructive role of microbial plaque is related to its internal bacteria, which cause tooth decay by constantly producing acid and secreting it on the teeth. Oral bacteria also enter the bloodstream and lead to the formation of atherosclerosis (atherosclerotic plaque) in the walls of blood vessels, which eventually leads to heart attacks and strokes by forming blood clots. Gum disease or periodontal disease that can affect the gums and supporting tissues of the teeth is another complication of dental plaque. The main cause of gum disease is the accumulation of microbial plaque on the teeth. Infectious diseases of the mouth and caries are also caused by the growth of bacteria. Some oral microbes are involved in causing valvular heart disease, and even the presence of plaque in the teeth of pregnant women can lead to preterm birth.
- tooth loss There is also a direct link between tooth loss and heart disease. Having healthy, shiny teeth and a healthy mouth indicates the optimal physical condition of the human body. Symptoms of diseases such as osteoporosis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and immune system disorders may include tooth decay, gum disease, chronic bleeding, and dry mouth. Lack of oral hygiene and timely treatment of diseases is effective in increasing the risk of heart disease and the symptoms of heart disease appear in the mouth and teeth. According to the Dental Association, people with gum disease are twice as likely as healthy people to have heart disease. A common study found that common oral problems, including gingivitis, caries and tooth loss, increase the risk of heart disease. Therefore, oral health has a direct and two-way relationship with the health of the whole body.
- Flossing is a health issue for all people and dentists emphasize its importance. Flossing is very important before or after brushing, and some experts even consider it more important than brushing. But a small percentage of people do it as a habit, and one of the reasons for this is that it is difficult and troublesome.
- the method of flossing without tools is that the person cuts about 40 cm of floss and wraps its two ends around the index fingers of both hands and by placing the middle part of the floss between the teeth, pulling it back and forth between the teeth. Cleans. In these conventional methods, the floss becomes dirty after cleaning a few teeth and it is necessary to clean it with water and remove the plaque on it, otherwise the plaque on the floss will be transferred to other parts of the mouth.
- the components of the device include the following:
- this design is about a floss holder that stores floss on the inside and inside the rolls (Floss is made of Teflon or nylon fibers and floss rolls are usually made of hard plastic that is embedded inside the box).
- the dental floss is in the form of a cube (Map 1- Part No. 1), which is made of plastic and mainly polypropylene.
- a floss cap Map 1-Part No. 2
- Map 1-Part No. 2 is installed, which is made of plastic and is connected to the body of this mold by a hinge.
- this cap is to prevent direct contact with the outside space and to maintain the hygiene of the upper end of the floss holder base (Map 3 - Part No. 7), which is flexible and is quite clear in case 3.
- the floss holder flexible base is also made of hard plastic.
- a mechanical push-button or lever to release the thread is installed on top of the part, which has an external cylinder and in that hole is located in line with the path of the thread and the output section (Map 3 - Part 6).
- Two segments of plastic push buttons are installed inside a metal spring, one of which is located on a flexible support base and the other at the floss exit of the box.
- the push button is aligned with the floss and the output section, and when this key is pressed, the holes of the key and the cylinder are aligned, and if released, this key is returned to its original position by a spring, thus closing the path of the holes.
- This segment is used to fix floss at the outlet of the segment, also, the upper end of the floss holder base is used to fix the floss on this base.
- This segment is used to fix the floss at the output of the segment and also the upper end of the floss holder base is used to fix the floss on this holder base.
- Floss replacement operation or the end of the operation is such that the chassis is pressed on the retaining base and the floss is kept fixed and the retaining base is returned to its original position.
- part of the floss that has been used is collected outside the base and cut with a cutter (Map 1 - Part 3).
- a cutter is a piece of metal that rests on a flexible floss holder.
- the method of flossing is as follows: When the floss release key or lever is pressed, open the floss holder up to a certain angle using a flexible base, and the base is fixed at this angle, and the tooth cleaning operation can be performed. At this stage the person inserts the effective area the area of floss that is in contact with the teeth and performs the cleaning task into the mouth between his two teeth and cleans between them as usual.

Dental Floss Holder and Flosser
United States Patent 20200268489
A dental floss holder and flosser is provided. The flosser provides a reusable dental device for cleaning between the user's teeth. The flosser comprises a casing, a pair of tines, and a floss advancement reel. A bundle of floss resides within the casing. A length of dental floss from the bundle of floss is fed through the casing and into the floss advancement reel. The length of dental floss is wrapped around the floss advancement reel. The length of dental floss is then strung taut along the pair of tines, forming a fresh segment of dental floss. The remaining length is routed and wrapped back to the floss advancement reel. A user can then rotate the floss advancement reel such that the segment of dental floss is replaced and ready for the next use.
This floss holder is similar to the previous designs of an arm and handle design, which includes a body, a pair of teeth and a spinning spool, and the floss is inside the chamber.
Thus, in previous inventions, dental floss retainers have been designed as handles, and so far no similar case has been presented with the current design, which has a cube and a lid. Therefore, due to the fact that these types of holders do not have a cap or cap, it is possible for the yarn to become contaminated due to contact with the environment and the outside space.
Oral health plays an important role in public health, community health and even social welfare, and oral health is related to general health and human well-being in several ways. As a result, dental floss is of special importance for cleaning teeth and increases oral health and the health of people in the community. In this design, a new type of floss holder is presented, which has a simple and creative mechanism and increases the use of floss. This floss holder is more efficient than the floss available in the market, and by producing it, we tried to solve all the problems caused by flossing manually. In addition, the yarn consumption is optimized in this machine and the use of yarn is significantly reduced and the required yarn and the resulting waste are minimized, as a result, the environmental pollution left by these dental floss is prevented. Also, since it is done without the intervention of the hand, the problem of holding the thread firmly on the fingers as well as the contact of the fingers with the mouth is eliminated.
Oral health plays an important role in public health, community health and even social welfare.
The destructive role of microbial plaque is related to its internal bacteria, which cause tooth decay by constantly producing acid and secreting it on the teeth. There is also a direct link between tooth loss and heart disease. The main cause of tooth decay, tooth decay as well as gum disease and major problems caused by gingival disorders or tooth decay and loss is the accumulation of microbial plaque on the teeth. Therefore, removing microbial plaque from teeth and effective and cost-effective prevention of these complications and serious risks of removing dental plaque is considered as a basic goal in health and dentistry. Therefore, in order to have healthy, resistant and infection-free teeth, it is necessary to observe daily oral hygiene at home.
Flossing is a health issue for all people and dentists emphasize its importance. Flossing is very important before or after brushing, and some experts even consider it more important than brushing. But a small percentage of people do it as a habit, and one of the reasons for this is that it is difficult and troublesome. The method of flossing without tools is that the person cuts about 40 cm of floss and wraps its two ends around the index fingers of both hands and by placing the middle part of the floss between the teeth, pulling it back and forth between the teeth. Cleans. In these conventional methods, the floss becomes dirty after cleaning a few teeth and it is necessary to clean it with water and remove the plaque on it, otherwise the plaque on the floss will be transferred to other parts of the mouth. In addition, working with two manipulations is tedious and makes the hands and sometimes the environment dirty. Contamination of the hands and their contact with dental floss is also dangerous for oral hygiene. As a result, this method is very time consuming and causes some flossing to be wasted. On the other hand, children or the elderly who are not able to floss are difficult and time consuming to use. In some cases, when separating the yarn from the spool, the yarn is stretched and the yarn consumption is multiplied.
Due to the fact that dental floss is of special importance for cleaning teeth, so the better and more complete this device is made, it will increase oral health and the health of people in the community. In this design, a new type of floss holder is presented, which has a simple and creative mechanism and increases the use of floss. This floss holder is more efficient than the floss available in the market, and by producing it, we tried to solve all the problems caused by flossing manually. In addition, flossing is optimized in this device and the use of floss is significantly reduced and the required floss and the resulting waste are minimized, as a result of environmental pollution that these floss to Leave is prevented. Also, since it is done without the intervention of the hand, the problem of holding the thread firmly on the fingers as well as the contact of the fingers with the mouth is eliminated.

In addition, flossing is optimized in this machine, and flossing is significantly reduced, as a result, the required floss and the resulting waste are minimized and the environmental pollution left by these flosses is prevented. In such a way that only 2.5 to 3 cm is used in each use of this innovative dental floss, but 30 to 40 cm of floss is used manually. Another feature of this design is that its spool can be replaced and is not disposable, and after flossing, a new floss spool can replace the empty spool. Also, since it is done without the intervention of the hand, the problem of holding the thread firmly on the fingers as well as the contact of the fingers with the mouth is eliminated. The full description and details of this device and how it works are provided below.
The components of the device include the following:
- Main compartment or body
- Floss cap or lid
- Floss roll or spool
- The floss holder flexible base
- Cutter or metal blade for cutting dental floss
- Mechanical push button or floss release lever (push button)
The operation of the device is described in three modes:
In this case, the floss is closed. (Map 1)
In general, this design is about a floss holder that stores floss on the inside and inside the rolls (Floss is made of Teflon or nylon fibers and floss rolls are usually made of hard plastic that is embedded inside the box). In this way, the dental floss is in the form of a cube (Map 1- Part No. 1), which is made of plastic and mainly polypropylene. In the upper part of this cube-shaped box, a floss cap (Map 1-Part No. 2) is installed, which is made of plastic and is connected to the body of this mold by a hinge. And the purpose of this cap is to prevent direct contact with the outside space and to maintain the hygiene of the upper end of the floss holder base (Map 3 - Part No. 7), which is flexible and is quite clear in case 3. The floss holder flexible base is also made of hard plastic.
In this case, the floss is opened. (Map 2)
At this stage, after opening the cap or lid of the chamber, a mechanical push-button or lever to release the thread is installed on top of the part, which has an external cylinder and in that hole is located in line with the path of the thread and the output section (Map 3 - Part 6). Two segments of plastic push buttons are installed inside a metal spring, one of which is located on a flexible support base and the other at the floss exit of the box. In the floss body, the push button is aligned with the floss and the output section, and when this key is pressed, the holes of the key and the cylinder are aligned, and if released, this key is returned to its original position by a spring, thus closing the path of the holes. This segment is used to fix floss at the outlet of the segment, also, the upper end of the floss holder base is used to fix the floss on this base. This segment is used to fix the floss at the output of the segment and also the upper end of the floss holder base is used to fix the floss on this holder base.
In this case, dental floss is used. (Map 3)
When the release key or lever (Map 2 - Part 4) is pressed using the hand, open the flexible floss holder base (Map 3 - Part 7) to a certain angle, and the base is fixed at this angle and teeth can be cleaned. At this stage, the person inserts the effective area (the area of floss that is in contact with the teeth and performs the cleaning task) into the mouth between the two teeth and cleans them as usual. In this way, the floss that is on the support base and the pulley is placed between the teeth, by moving the floss up and down and in one direction, the floss is cleaned between the teeth by leaning on the front tooth and repeating it while leaning on the front tooth. In this way, the flossing process is performed without the fingers coming in contact with the teeth. This floss can also be used for back teeth if it is loosened a bit.
Floss replacement operation or the end of the operation is such that the chassis is pressed on the retaining base and the floss is kept fixed and the retaining base is returned to its original position. In this case, part of the floss that has been used is collected outside the base and cut with a cutter (Map 1 - Part 3). A cutter is a piece of metal that rests on a flexible floss holder.
Ease of use
Extremely comfortable to use for people who are not able to floss, especially children and the elderly
Less and optimal use of yarn and its cost-effectiveness due to the minimal use of raw materials
Do not floss with hands, which promotes oral health.
Floss less and easier to carry
Speed at work
Improve the quality of flossing and help better clean teeth
Use for all teeth including front and front teeth
Ability to change the spool after flossing
Examples
The method of flossing is as follows: When the floss release key or lever is pressed, open the floss holder up to a certain angle using a flexible base, and the base is fixed at this angle, and the tooth cleaning operation can be performed. At this stage the person inserts the effective area the area of floss that is in contact with the teeth and performs the cleaning task into the mouth between his two teeth and cleans between them as usual.
In this way, the dental floss, which is mounted on the support base and pulley in the upper part of the device, is placed between the teeth by moving the floss up and down and in one direction, the floss is cleaned between the teeth by leaning on the front tooth and repeating it while leaning on the front tooth. In this way, the flossing process is performed without the fingers coming in contact with the teeth.
Floss replacement operation or the end of the operation is such that the chassis or key is pressed on the holder base and at the same time hold the floss fixed and return the retaining base to its original position, in this case, the part of the floss that is used is collected outside the base and the floss is cut with the cutter of this extra and unused part so that the device returns to its original state.
The main use of this floss, like the floss on the market, is to clean food and dental plaque between teeth, which is not possible with a toothbrush.
This device can be used for flossing all people by themselves and if needed by another person, including the elderly and children. The device is designed so that it can be used in any place and for use in restaurants, fast foods, use as personal consumption in the home.
