Description

TOOTH ROOT RESIDUAL REMOVING DRILL FOR TORQUE MICRO-MOTOR ANGLE
DRIVE
Technical field of the invention
The invention relates to a drill system developed to remove the residual root part remaining in the bone socket as a result of the crown part or, in most cases, a part of the root being broken during tooth extraction.
State of art
The root fracture of the extracted tooth during tooth extraction is an extremely undesirable complication, but it occurs frequently. The occurrence of root fractures prolongs the duration of the procedure. With the prolongation of the procedure, the patient has to keep their mouth open longer and this causes fatigue and discomfort. In such cases, tools that can be extremely traumatic such as Bein elevators, Cryer elevators and Toms elevators are generally used to remove the roots.
Even though the basic principle of these tools is to get between the residual root and the bone tissue, since they are extremely sharp tools, especially Cryer elevators have functions such as moving away/removing bone tissue. With the removal of the bone tissue around the residual root, root residue can be removed. Removal of bone tissue with these tools is a challenging procedure for the patient and the physician, and causes pain and swelling in the postoperative period after bone removal.
Likewise, bone tissue can also be removed with steel drills. Although the removal of bone tissue with drills is much more comfortable and quick than the procedure performed with hand tools, pain and swelling occur in the patient in the post-procedure period since the bone tissue is removed.
Although these techniques are used, sometimes the tooth roots persist in not coming out; endodontic files, which resemble drills and main purpose of which is canal treatment, can be used for this purpose. The aim here is to pull it out with hand force by attaching something that will squeeze from the inside to the root that the surgical instruments cannot reach. However, since they are not produced for this purpose, the files can be broken in the root and cause other problems. In addition to all these, various files or drills inspired by the logic of the endodontic file, resembling the invention presented in its external shape, but design and working principle of which are completely different from those of the invention presented herein, are also proposed for this purpose.
The drill, which is the subject of this invention, is a unique design and there is no patent granted. There may be patents for drill systems produced for for different drills (restorative or endodontic) and in particular endodontic rotary systems, design and use of which are completely different from the drilling design and logic of operation presented here:
The patent application 2014/08855 relates to the implant socket opening drill and set in the jawbone. Bone drill and drill set consisting of these drills allow implant placement directly through the gums and easily without the need for a surgical procedure if used with a guide or surgical guide prepared with tomography and 3D Program.
The patent application 2016/07841 mentions the trauma-free extraction of the tooth root. In the event that the crown is broken or the wisdom tooth is decided to be pulled without rising on the gum, it is a method of trauma-free extraction of the tooth root with the help of the screw and palm pulling apparatus by drilling a hole in the broken tooth root with a drill and opening the guide socket.
The patent application EP2950741 relates to the tool for drilling the tooth root canals. The tool for drilling the root canals comprises, on at least one portion of its length, a pointed rod having a polygonal cross-section forming at least two cutting edges ending with a pointed end. The length of the tool comprises a first part extending from the pointed end and a second part extending after the first part. At least one section of the first part has a center of mass located on the rotation axis. Any section of the second part has a center of mass shifted relative to the rotation axis, and at least one cutting edge defined by said section is in the state of withdrawal.
Technical problems to be solved bv the invention
In daily applications, it is common for the tooth root to break and remain in the jawbone during tooth extraction. When this situation is encountered, the use of tools such as Bein elevator, Cryer elevator or Toms elevator is a condition that damages the surrounding bone, increases the complications of excessive bleeding or severe bone inflammation called osteomyelitis and necrosis, causes tissue loss and disrupts healing, and delays the recovery, as well as removing the residual root part by applying mechanical pressure and taking cleavage at a level that will destroy the surrounding tissues. Damage to the surrounding bone also jeopardizes dental implant applications that may be considered in the future. The prolongation of the procedure increases the fatigue of the patient and decreases their endurance. For this reason, the shortest possible duration of treatment should be provided in the dental chair. Damage to the surrounding bone will lead to the use of drugs (antibiotics and painkillers) that are not normally required. All these situations that may cause dissatisfaction in the patient may cause phobia in the patient as well as reduce the level of satisfaction of the dentist.
The invention is a new drill system that will facilitate the removal of these roots, prevent trauma, shorten the duration of the procedure, and increase patient and physician satisfaction. It is the drilling and retaining ends of the invention, while the drilling end is advancing at the residual root, the retaining ends will pull root towards the top of the socket like a corkscrew thanks to the stopper where they lean against. Therefore, the invention, which is the subject of the patent, is a drill system developed to remove the broken tooth root from the socket with minimum trauma.
Description of the invention
The invention is mostly used in case of encountering a root fracture in the lower or upper jaw to any single rooted tooth or in case of fracture of the multi-rooted tooth, where more than one root remains in the bone (the roots are separated first).

Detailed description of the invention:
The working methodology of the drill is as follows:
Attaching the drill system to the torque micro-motor (4) angle drive,
Placing the drill leg such that it receives support from the socket bone and the drilling end of the drill such that it corresponds to the entrance of the root canal (9) (Figure 3),
Operating the angle drive (10) (Figure 4),
Advancement of the drilling grooves (1) of the drill in the root canal,
It consists of the following steps: with the advancement of the retaining grooves (2) of the drill in the root canal (9), the stopper (3) on the drill leans against the attraction socket and provides support (support point) and pulls the broken root part out of the socket. This part is at the forefront of the most important and different parts of the invention. It belongs to a completely original, domestic and national design.
The invention is a high-strength dual-function (drilling and holding-pulling) drill made of titanium alloy which can be attached to dental micromotors, which resembles the separate features of a “corkscrew” used to remove the fungi that are used to close the bottle mouths and a canal file or rotary head root canal treatment tool drills used in root canal treatment, but both working mechanism, groove type and usage areas of which are completely different from all of them.
The invention has a design that provides fast treatment and ergonomic work, it is a device that shortens the patient’s recovery period and provides a comfortable experience. It is a system that protects the support tissues from trauma and thus prevents complications such as excessive bleeding, bruising and infection. It has an application that protects the remaining jawbone after tooth extraction and thus increases the success of procedures such as implant surgery. It has the potential to increase the professional income of the end user and patient comfort and shorten the recovery period since faster, more comfortable and more secure treatments will be applied when this device subject to the invention is used.
