Description
AUDIO JAMMER WITH CONTAINER FOR ELECTRONIC DEVICES
DESCRIPTION
This patent is related to electronic devices and in particular concerns a new audio jammer device for electronic devices, with an integrated container.
The need to prevent audio recordings is well known in particular situations where audio content must remain confidential and where it is necessary to prevent its unwanted or unintentional disclosure.
Preventing such recordings is becoming ever more difficult due to the very large-scale use of electronic devices within everyone's reach and which are able to record conversations and audio in general. In particular, electronic devices such as smartphones or tablets, used and usable by anyone, are equipped with very sensitive microphones.
Audio jammers suited to be installed in an environment and to disturb any microphones present are known in the prior art. Normally, these jammers work on fixed frequencies and thus their effectiveness is not guaranteed, in particular in the case of the especially sensitive microphones on the electronic devices currently in use.
The object of this patent is a new audio jammer device for electronic devices and in particular for electronic devices capable of recording audio, such as smartphones and tablets, with an integrated container.
The main object of the new jamming device with an integrated container is to store the electronic devices to be jammed inside it without preventing their normal operation of receiving/transmitting radio waves, but preventing them from recording conversations or audio in general coming from outside the container.
This object is achieved by the new audio jammer device thanks to the emission of a sound inside the container which is able to mask the conversations and sounds coming from outside the container.
Another object of the new device is not to create noise disturbance for people.
One advantage of the present invention consists in being simple to implement, having low costs and manufacturing times.
Another advantage of the present invention is that it does not involve the emission of electromagnetic waves, thus it does not entail any risk to health, and does not involve the generation of interfering radio frequencies either.
The main parts of the new audio jammer device are: at least one container suited to contain the electrical and electronic components and at least one closable compartment, intended to house one or more electronic devices capable of recording audio, such as smartphones, tablets, or the like; at least one white noise generator able to mask a suitable range of frequencies (according to the so-called "sweep frequency" method), thus making such masking effective to prevent any recordings of conversations or sounds generally coming from outside the container; at least one electronic control unit or microprocessor for managing said at least one generator; at least one audio amplifier of the signals generated by said at least one noise generator; one or more piezoelectric transducers suited to emit sounds inside said at least one compartment.
Said at least one electronic control unit, suitably a microprocessor, controls the parameters of at least one signal generator which in turn emits the white noise signal towards said one or more piezoelectric transducers.
In order not to disturb people during operation, while maintaining its effectiveness as an audio jammer for the electronic devices housed in the container, the new device emits at frequencies preferably outside the sound frequencies perceived and encodable by the human ear, that is outside the frequencies ranging from 50 Hz to 15 KHz.
More preferably, the frequencies emitted range from 24 to 26 KHz, varying the emitted frequency at very short time intervals, for example on the order of 10 ms, with steps of some Hz, for example of 50 Hz, in an infinite cycle.
The frequency emission is managed by said electronic control unit, so as to perform an
effective disturbance for most of the microphones that are normally installed on the electronic devices currently used.
By emitting signals in this frequency range, the microphones of the electronic devices housed in said container are in fact disturbed with a stronger signal that saturates the signal of any conversations and sounds in general coming from outside the container.
Said at least one generator requires very low power and the whole device has a very low power consumption. The device may be designed to be powered at low voltage through a common USB socket, batteries, whether rechargeable or not, or any other technology known and commonly available.
Said at least one generator is suited to generate triangular, square and sinusoidal signals. In a preferred embodiment, the generator can therefore generate different types of signals at different frequencies by special programming.
In particular, the programming provides for the dynamic modulation of the frequency and the type of signal generated by said generator in real time, that is, without the need to turn the generator off and on again.
The output of the generator is connected to the audio amplifier, which in turn is connected to said piezoelectric transducers.
Said piezoelectric transducers are preferably of the high efficiency type capable of emitting sounds at a frequency of 25 KHz ±1 KHz.
Said transducers must be in such a quantity and distributed in such a way as to emit sounds within the entire interior of the compartment housing the electronic devices without dead zones.
Said at least one container can also be of a portable type, and of different sizes.
Said at least one container is also particularly structured so as to shield the high-frequency audio streams emitted therein by said piezoelectric transducers.
In a preferred embodiment, said container is, for example, made up of a double box, one inside the other, where the audio components are contained in the gap between said two boxes and where the innermost box is made of sound-transparent material, for example,
made of fabric with sufficiently wide mesh that does not hinder the sound emission of the transducers.
Said container is in any case made of a material that reflects the sound inside said compartment housing the electronic devices. Layers of sound-insulating material may also be used to minimize the dispersion of sound outside the container.
Said container therefore comprises at least one lid that can be opened and closed, and where said lid is, for example, connected to the power supply circuit of the device, so that closing the lid causes the device to start operating.
Said device may also comprise a receiver installed inside said compartment or said container in general and connected to said control unit, where said receiver has the function of detecting the sound noise emitted by the transducers and therefore the proper operation of the device.
The new device may also comprise one or more signal lights indicating the proper operation of the device and/or its operating status.
The characteristics of the present invention will be better clarified by the following description with reference to the drawing, attached by way of a non-limiting example. Figure 1 shows the audio components of the new device (100), while Figure 2 shows a possible embodiment of the container structure (200).
Figure 3 shows a possible embodiment of the new device (100), with the lid (201) of the container (200) open.
It is an audio jammer (100) for electronic devices (D) capable of recording audio, such as smartphones, tablets, or the like.
The device (100) comprises at least one container (200) suited to contain the electrical and electronic components and at least one closable compartment (203), intended to contain one or more electronic devices (D) capable of recording audio.
The device further comprises:
• at least one white noise generator (2);
• at least one electronic control unit (1) or microprocessor for managing said at
least one generator (2);
• at least one audio amplifier (3) of the signals generated by said at least one generator (2);
• one or more piezoelectric transducers (4) suited to emit sounds inside said at least one compartment (203), and wherein said transducers (4) are configured to emit sound signals outside the band perceived and encodable by the human ear, that is, outside the frequencies ranging from 50 Hz to 15 KHz.
More specifically, said transducers (4) are configured to emit sound signals at frequencies between 24 and 26 KHz, and where the frequency emitted varies over time according to a program established by said control unit (1).
Said generator (2) is configured to generate signals at frequencies that vary at very short time intervals, for example of the order of 10 ms, with steps of some Hz, for example 50 Hz, in an infinite cycle, and is also configured to generate triangular, square and sinusoidal signals.
Said transducers (4) are in such a quantity and distributed in such a way as to emit sounds inside said entire compartment (203).
Said container (200) is made of sound-insulating and/or sound-reflecting material, to contain the sound signals inside said at least one compartment (203).
In a preferred embodiment, said container (200) comprises two boxes (202, 204), one inside the other, wherein the audio components are contained in the gap between said two boxes (202, 204) and wherein the innermost box (204) is made of sound-transparent material.
As shown in the example of Figure 3, said container (200) comprises at least one lid (201) that can be opened and closed, which can, for example, be connected to the power circuit of the device, so that the closing of the lid (201) causes the device to start operating. Therefore, with reference to the preceding description and the attached drawings the following claims are made.
