Description
SUPPORTING ORTHOSIS OF THE GAIT
Technical Field:
The invention relates to an orthosis that can be used by patients with dorsiflexor paralysis. The invention is designed to provide a tension from the lower region of the foot to the calf by means of a flexible rod connection and to prevent the lower part of the ankle from falling down.
State of the Art:
Due to the fact that the attachment points of the currently used foot lifting orthoses are located in the heel area of the foot, this makes it difficult to walk and leads to a loss of dorsiflexion and eversion. A healthy walking cycle cannot be performed due to the fact that the materials used in the production of orthotics are not flexible enough. Due to the fact that the materials used are heavy and hard, comfortable walking is prevented and causes deformation of the ankle. The layer design that grasps the bottom of the foot in similar foot lift orthoses is not suitable for the anatomical form of the foot and for this reason it does not remain stable under the user's foot and does not provide comfortable walking.
The patent application number US7766851B2 describes “Below Knee Orthosis". The presented invention consists of a calf retainer part, spring and foot sole parts. The disadvantage of the presented invention is that the rods in the foot connection parts are configured to contact the patient's skin. The single-rod structure will cause problems with strength for severe patients. There is no structure that will provide comfort to the patient's ankle during walking.
The patent application number KR101047685B1 describes “Below Knee orthosis". This invention has drawn attention to the fact that the current inventions are made of plastic material and that these inventions can prevent drag, but there are problems caused by
restricting the mobility of the ankle. The invention consists of a foot support part, a calf support part and a support part that can be bent. It has been mentioned that the rods can be manufactured from a lightweight and high elasticity material such as carbon fiber in order to absorb the forces that may occur during walking and then the rod can regain its former form. It has been explained that the foot support part and the calf support parts can be manufactured from polypropylene. The fact that the sole of the foot in this invention is designed to wrap the ankle part will be a nuisance, especially for ankle- injured and sensitive patients. No extra structure is provided for ankle comfort. In addition, if the rods are connected from the back of the heel area, it is inevitable that the rods will come into contact with the patient's calf as a result of factors such as stretching, bending during walking.
As a result, a new technology is needed that can overcome the disadvantages mentioned above.
Description of the Invention:
The product of the invention provides the user with a more comfortable, lighter, more flexible and higher strength structure. To ensure this structure, the calf and foot parts are made of carbon fiber composite material, while the rod part is made of a thermoplastic material reinforced with glass fiber yams. It is aimed that the user can complete the walking cycle comfortably without staggering, without feeling any tension forces in the calf area. Due to the heat-reformable structure of the carbon composite material, our product can be converted into a shape suitable for the user's calf and foot form during use. In addition, with our product subject to the invention, it has been ensured that users can easily perform activities such as walking and running.
Due to the pleats made of carbon fiber composite material covering the bottom of the foot and calf area in our product, skin deformation is prevented by the product when the user takes steps. Due to the light weight of the carbon fiber composite material, the user does not feel any extra weight and comfortable walking is provided. Since the rod connection points connecting the parts made of carbon composite material are located on the outside
of the plate, they do not come into contact with the patient's skin and the comfort increases. The invention is designed in accordance with the anatomical structure of the foot and does not cause any discomfort to the lateral and medial malleolus areas of the foot. The invention is a foot lift orthosis that provides walking comfort and is also supported by a pad made of elastomeric material to prevent deformation of the foot. These pads are used on the lateral and medial malleolus parts of the foot and the surfaces that come into contact with the calf. In this way, the comfort of using the product is increased.
Due to the fact that the rod protrusions in our invention are designed to protrude outward, not to the ankles, the feeling of pain and discomfort caused by existing products has been eliminated for the patient.
Due to the fact that the invention is made of carbon fiber composite material that can be heat-reshaped, the product can be converted into a shape suitable for the user's calf and foot form during use. The invention allows a deformation that may occur in any of the parts due to the fact that it consists of more than one part to be eliminated by replacing the main mounting elements. The invention is designed in accordance with the anatomical posture position of the foot with an angle of 5 degrees, which allows to perform the walking cycle in a healthy way.
It is easy to install thanks to the easy fixation of the parts that make up the invention to each other, it is low in costs due to the short assembly time. In addition, the invention has a solid structure.
Description of the Figures:
The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying figures, so that the features of the invention will be more clearly understood and appreciated, but the purpose of this is not to limit the invention to these certain regulations. On the contrary, it is intended to cover all alternatives, changes and equivalences that can be included in the area of the invention defined by the accompanying claims. Detailed Description of The Invention:
The parts forming the product subject to the invention are mainly the calf part (1), the connecting part (2), the rod (3), the stretch-inhibiting part (4), the foot part (5) and the gel pads (6). The calf part (1) has parts of the rear region (1.1), side region (1.2) rod entry
region (1.3) and rod bedding region (1.4) in itself. The foot part (5) contains the parts of the foot arc region (5.1), the toe nose region (5.2) and the heel region of the foot (5.3).
The lateral region (L) and the medial region (M) defined in the invention point to the bony parts (malleolus) on the inner side of the ankle.
The perspective images of our product subject to the invention are given in Figures 1-2. In our product, there is a calf part (1) and a foot part (5) that grasps the patient's calf and foot area. These parts are made of a lightweight, flexible, high-strength carbon fiber composite material. Due to its heat-reshapable structure, it can be reshaped according to the dimensions of the patient's foot and calf. A good understanding of the patient's calf is provided by the fact that the Side zones in the calf region (1.2) near the attachment points have a thick and non-stretching structure. Due to the flexible, curlable structure of the rear region (1.1), our product can flex according to the shape of the patient's foot. With an inward curved structure of the connection point at the bottom of the side region (1.2), this part, where the rod (3) enters the rod entry region (1.3), does not come into contact with the patient's skin. Again, the connection part (2) is assembled in such a way that it is curved inward in this part. In the part where the ankle is located, the connection part (2) is installed so that it is outward.
The rod (3) included in the invention is made of an elastomeric material. Due to its ductile structure, it can take shape according to the patient's gait. In addition, the rods (3) are designed at the optimum angle and length to maximize the patient's comfort level. The rods (3) are connected to the lateral parts of the heel region of the foot (5.3) in such a way that the patient's movement maximizes his flexibility and distracts the patient on a minimum scale. The flexible and curlable stretch-inhibiting part (4) is designed to demonstrate the ability of the calf part (1) to flex according to the shape of the patient's foot. The foot part (5) is manufactured in a thick and non-stretching structure close to the connection points. In this way, it is aimed to have a good grip of the patient's foot. The part of the foot (5) was supported by keeping the patient's foot nose region (5.2) in the toe area of the foot. In order to maximize the patient's comfort, the foot arc zone (5.1) is designed to be in a curved structure and the foot heel region (5.3) is designed to be in an
open structure. The reason why the curve in the foot arc region (5.1) is outward is to prevent our product from coming into contact with the patient's skin. In order for the patient to maintain the walking cycle properly, the part of the patient that corresponds to the toes has a curlable structure. The patient lateral (L) and medial (M) malleolus, in the region of the rod (3) and the foot Part (5) the connection between a piece of stainless (2) are located to the right and left parts of the region where the inner elastomer raw material, manufactured with the gel, the gel pad left and right (6) two gel pad (6) are positioned. These gel pads (6) are soft and have elasticity that is compatible with patient skin.
