Abstract

Insects, and spiders in particular, can be captured alive and later released using a vacuum cleaner accessory.

Description

Insect catcher for vacuum cleaner
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Insects are considered annoying to disgusting in an household. Therefore, beneficial insects, such as spiders and bees, will also be killed and disposed of as trash.
Most people cannot immediately classify whether insects in the home are pests or beneficial insects. In today’s world, however, it is important to preserve biodiversity.
The captured animals should therefore be able to be released back into nature as alive and unharmed as possible and should not suffocate in agony in a vacuum cleaner bag or be sprayed with pesticides and slowly die, as usually done.
TASK OF THE INVENTION
Object of the present invention therefore is to provide a device, wherein insects can be collected efficiently, alive and gently. The insects can be viewed, studied and classified in a transparent collection chamber after capture, and released again.
SOLUTION
For this purpose, a vacuum cleaner with pipe extension is used. The tube extension is atta- ched to the upper end. Thus, the objects can be collected (sucked in) from a distance. The tube is transparent, the captured insects can thus be viewed and classified.
To prevent the objects from escaping after being sucked in, there is a screen in the tube at the bottom (so that the sucked air can flow) and a rotating closing plate at the entrance.
With a lever, the disc can open or close the tube inlet (similar to the throttle valve of a carbu- retor).
For emptying the catch, it can be aligned parallel to the center axis of the interception tube. The latter may then be disconnected from the suction tube and the catch material be emp- tied. DESCRIPTION ALONG TO THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 shows the insect catching device (1) in an oblique view: It consists of the transparent housing (2), the rigid catching grille (3) and the rotatable closing plate (4) arranged therein, the axle (11), the rotary lever (5) for the rotatable closing plate (4) and a pair of locks for it (10), as well as the intake opening (7) and the outlet (8).
Fig. 2 displays the insect catching device (1) in use with the rotatable closing plate (4) open, the abutments for it (6a, 6b) and a fly (9) being sucked in.
Fig. 3 shows the insect catching device (1) with the rotatable closing plate (4) open and the fly (9) escaping.
Fig. 4 shows the insect catching device (1) in use with the rotatable closing plate (4) closed and the fly (9) caught
