Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the heat treatment of metal workpieces (WB), in particular transmission components, wherein preferably carburized metal workpieces (WB) are introduced into a means (TK) for heating workpieces and are heated therein, wherein the means (TK) for heating workpieces is in the form of a continuous furnace and wherein workpieces (WB) are introduced into the continuous furnace through a first opening apparatus (1) and into a heating portion (TKH) of the continuous furnace for heating, wherein workpieces (WB), after being heated, are transferred to an outlet portion (TKO) which can be sealed off from the heating portion (TKH) and are kept warm therein at a defined temperature, wherein workpieces (WB), after being kept warm, are discharged from the continuous furnace through a second opening apparatus (2) which is different from the first opening apparatus (1), wherein workpieces (WB), after being discharged, are introduced into a means (PQ) for hardening.
