Definitions
- the invention relates to a silicone composition containing organopolysiloxane, aluminum hydroxide and a platinum compound, a process for ceramifying the silicone composition and the ceramified silicone composition which can be produced using the process.
- the battery modules are developed and manufactured by automobile manufacturers themselves or their direct suppliers. Production takes place primarily in fully automated production lines. Material applications that can be dispensed or injected are preferred because they can significantly increase the degree of automation compared to manually inserting components.
- crosslinking polymer systems only low temperatures ( ⁇ 80°C) are permitted for the crosslinking reaction, as higher temperatures can permanently damage the battery cells. So far, constructive solutions have had to be found with steel and other solid components (mica plates) in order to ensure a fireproof shell for the battery modules. This However, solutions are difficult, expensive and can only be implemented in production with increased manual effort.
- Silicone formulations for fire-retardant molded parts are described, for example, in CN109762341 A for different applications, such as cable insulation. At least two, but mostly several different filler systems (silica, carbon black, mica, wollastonite, magnesium hydroxide, aluminum trihydrate) are necessary in these formulations in order to ensure the desired electrical insulation even in the event of fire. However, this leads to some undesirable properties.
- silicone formulations can only be used to produce molded parts with high crosslinking temperatures.
- the fire-retardant properties of the formulations described are determined using the LOI number and the classification made and described according to UL94. Neither is expedient for use in HV battery modules, since the thermal energy released and the thermal jet stress the fire-retardant materials many times more than is tested in these tests. In principle, these formulations can only ensure electrical insulation in the event of fire and not thermal or mechanical decoupling, for example between continuous battery cells and other nearby components or people.
- JP5304588B2 describes silicone formulations for the production of thermally conductive silicone rubbers in which only ATH is used as a filler.
- ATH filler contents of >70% are necessary to achieve the desired thermal conductivity. These high levels of filling significantly limit the processability of the products, as they result in a significant increase in viscosity and the material has no or only very poor flow properties.
- the invention relates to a silicone composition containing

- the silicone composition is a compound with good processability, which reacts to form a refractory ceramic that can permanently withstand temperatures in excess of 1500°C and direct flame exposure, comparable to the thermal jets of a continuous HV battery cell.
- the silicone composition does not require expensive and heavy metal oxides or other mineral fillers that adversely affect the rheology and/or the abrasiveness of the formulation.
- the filler content allows for a flowable or non-sag formulation that can be injected, cast and grouted.
- the strength of the ceramic gradually decreases. With a proportion of ⁇ 30%, the strength of the ceramic is no longer sufficient and the ceramic disintegrates.
- the hydrocarbon radicals R can be linear, cyclic, branched, aromatic, saturated or unsaturated.

Description
Keramifizierende Aluminiumhydroxid enthaltende Siliconzusammensetzung
A) Organopolysiloxan A der durchschnittlichen allgemeinen Formel I
