Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing a battery housing (4) of a battery, in which: a planar lateral surface (30) is provided; the lateral surface (30) is bent to form a tubular shell (10) in such a way that the long edges (12) of the lateral surface (30) running in the longitudinal direction of the tube (L) are facing one another; the long edges of the shell (12) are integrally bonded to one another so as to form a circumferentially closed tube (6); at one end of the tube (18) a circumferential stepped contour (38) having a radial contact surface (42) and an axial annular wall portion (44) is impressed on the interior wall; a housing base (8) is positioned on the contact surface (42); and a region of the annular wall portion (44) projecting from the housing base (8) is shaped, at least partially, to run round radially inwards in such a way that the housing base (8) is held interlockingly and frictionally on the tube (6).
