Specifically, the present invention relates to a system and method of the seat belt misuse prevention system which allows the driver to prevent the drivers from using their seat belts incorrectly by opening and closing an electrical circuit thanks to the movement of the belt, by acting as an electrical circuit switch connection of any conductive material on the seat belt fabric that can make contact on the surface.
The present invention relates to a system and method of seat belt misuse warning system that prevents vehicle drivers to pass the seat belt behind or in front of the vehicle seat (on the back of the driver or passenger) and to place an external seat belt buckle inside the seat belt slot (adapter) in order to silence warning system of the seat belt.
Moreover, the present invention relates to a system and method of seat belt misuse warning system that prevents drivers from using their seat belts incorrectly by processing in control box of situational displacement movement data of an anchor ring, which is obtained by means of a measurement element placed in a special movement mechanism to which the anchor ring is attached, producing an analog or digital value related to the motion.
Prior Art
Seat belts in vehicles are vital importance. It saves lives by preventing the driver from hitting various points in the vehicle or being thrown out of the vehicle by ensuring that the driver is fixed in the vehicle in cases such as the sudden stop of the vehicles in traffic or an accident. With the use of seat belts, it is prevented to reduce the concussion that occurs in the driver's body at the time of an accident, to distribute the impact effect by not collecting it at a single point, and to prevent damage to the head and spinal cord.
When the statistical data of the Directorate General of Security of Turkey, Traffic Department is examined, the risk of injury for drivers using three-point seat belts is reduced by 45% in cars and 60% in pick-up trucks. While it is seen that 24.8% of drivers using seat belts in fatal accidents survived the accident without any damage, this rate drops to 6.3% in those who do not use seat belts. It was determined that 66% of deaths and injuries in the back seat and 6% of deaths in the front seat were prevented when using seat belts of passengers. Generally, the death and injury rates in countries where the use of seat belts is mandatory was found 40% less than in countries where the use of seat belts is not mandatory. Despite all these statistical data, there are many vehicle drivers who do not use seat belts.
Thanks to the development of technology, the use of seat belts by drivers, which is of vital importance, can be detected by various methods with vehicle warning systems. The driver fastens the seat belt by fixing the loop of the seat belt buckle in the slot. It is assumed that the seat belt is installed correctly when the seat belt is inserted into the slot. Sensors such as RFID are used to detect seat belt buckle insertion to the slot. However, these methods cannot offer an economical and practical solution. In addition, drivers who do not want to use seat belts use an external seat belt buckle to silence the vehicle warning system. In another situation, driver pass the seat belt behind or in front of the seat, making the vehicle warning system perceived as if the seat belt is fastened. It is important to prevent the incorrect use of seat belts by the drivers and the current methods mentioned are insufficient.
This situation has revealed the need for a low-cost seat belt misuse warning system and a related method that allows vehicle drivers to prevent misuse of seat belts and to prevent drivers from deceiving the vehicle warning system with various methods.
The document DE102010023491 discloses a lock detection mechanism developed to detect the closing state of a seat belt lock. A belt information sensor detects the length of the belt straps of the seat belt. Accordingly, when a lock detection unit detects the closing status of the seat belt lock and the extension length of the belt, it is detected that the belt is fastened. However, there is no mention of a seat belt misuse warning system and related method for this, which allows any conductive material on the seat belt to form a contact on the surface, acting as an electrical circuit switch connection, by opening and closing the circuit thanks to the movement of the belt, and preventing the drivers from using their seat belts incorrectly.
The document JP2007083942A discloses a seat belt warning system. Depending on whether the seat belt is fastened or not, the user is alerted by starting a vibration motor for the seat belt. Therefore, there is no mention of a solution method that can prevent the seat belt warning system from being silenced by inserting only an external seat belt buckle into slot.
The document US10227057B2 discloses a method developed for detecting misuse of vehicle seat belts. A belt buckle sensor and an extension sensor signals are detected and a probability check is carried out for misuse. The system in question also includes a door sensor, a seat occupancy sensor, and a vehicle acceleration sensor. Therefore, a low-cost and practical seat belt warning system is not offered in the document, which allows drivers to misuse their seat belts and prevent drivers from misleading the vehicle warning system in various ways. In another situation, drivers pass the seat belt behind or in front of the vehicle seat, making the vehicle warning system perceived as if the seat belt is fastened. In order to solve this problem, there are systems in which the length of the seat belt fabric is measured and processed by means of sensors. However, measuring of the seat belt length alone is not enough. This situation has revealed the need for an anchor ring movement mechanism for a seat belt containing a measuring element that allows vehicle drivers to prevent misuse of seat belts and to prevent drivers from deceiving the vehicle warning system by various methods. In the existing anchor ring systems, the anchor ring cannot be fixed to the joint. In the existing anchor ring systems, the anchor ring cannot be fixed to the connection place. There is a free movement independent of the mechanism. In addition, it does not contain a bearing or a similar rotation mechanism. Therefore, the existing anchor ring does not have a structure that allows data to be taken from the anchor movement.
The document US6843143B2 discloses an apparatus that allows the measurement of the tension load on the seat belt of a vehicle. However, a seat belt warning system and a method that allows vehicle drivers to prevent misuse of seat belts such as passing the seat belt behind or in front of the vehicle seat in order to silence the seat belt warning system, placing an external seat belt buckle in the seat belt slot, and a method related to it are not mentioned in the document.

Detailed Description of the Invention
The present invention relates to a system and method of seat belt (10) misuse warning system that prevents vehicle drivers to pass the seat belt (10) behind or in front of the vehicle seat (on the back of the driver or passenger) and to place an external seat belt (10) buckle inside the seat belt (10) slot (adapter) in order to silence warning system of the seat belt (10).
The figures shown in figure 1 -6 (1 to 6) are the figures of the present invention seat belt (10) misuse prevention system configuration and other alternative embodiments thereof. In the present invention; the contact surface (20) formed by any conductive material such as conductive tape, conductive fabric, conductive thread placed on the seat belts (10) in the vehicles is integrated into the seat belt (10) audible warning system in the vehicles by making contact with the conductive contact tips (21 ). The circuit created by the fastening and removing of seat belts (10) is switched opened and closed, and information is obtained from the audible warning system according to incorrect use. In this way, vehicle drivers can be warned.
A seat belt (10) related to the prevention system, which is the subject of the invention, is shown in figure 1 . As can be seen in the figure, the system generally comprises; a seat belt (10) for the vehicle seat, a support plate (50) positioned behind of the seat belt (10), at least one conductive contact surface (20) located on the seat belt (10), an insulating part (24) fixed with mounting screws (25) on the support plate (50) behind of the seat belt (10), at least one conductive contact tip (21 ) fixed on the insulating part (24) and making contact with a conductive contact surface (20), a winding mechanism (30) connected to the seat belt (10) that allows the seat belt (10) to move.
In the present invention, firstly, the contact surface (20) formed with the conductive material is contacted with the conductive contact tips (21) and integrated into the seat belt (10) audio warning system in the vehicles. With the movement of the seat belt (10) on a winding mechanism (30), the audible warning system is switched, in other words, the warning system is switched on and off. In this way, misuse information is obtained from the vehicle and drivers are warned.
Detailed perspective views of the conductive contact surface (20) and contact tips (21 ) on the seat belt (10), which is the subject of the invention, is shown in figure 2. The conductive contact surface (20) in question; it covers all kinds of conductive substances such as conductive thread, conductive fabric, tape, etc. As seen in Figure 2a, there is an insulating part (24), which is fixed with mounting screws (25) on the support plate (50) behind of the seat belt (10). The contact tips (21 ) are fixed on the insulating part (24). The aforementioned contact tips (21 ) are integrated into an audio warning system of vehicles by forming a contact with the conductive connection (22) cable ends and a contact surface (20). The audible warning system is switched on and off with the movement of the seat belt (10) in the direction of the arrow, when the driver fastens and removes the seat belt (10). Figure 2c, shows the situation that occurs when the seat belt (10) is not used by the driver in the present invention. When the seat belt (10) is not fastened, a contact is formed with said contact surface (20), contact tips (21 ) and conductive connection (22) cable ends. However, the movement of the seat belt (10) in the direction of the arrow during the pull by the driver separates the connection between the contact surface (20), the contact tips (21 ) and the conductive connection (22) cable ends, becoming shown in figure 2b. In this way, the driver's seat belt (10) usage information is obtained.
Figure 3 shows a seat belt (10) for the system in question and alternative embodiments related to conductive substances on it. The present invention method is not limited to the examples in the figure, but by integrating the contact surface (20) and contact tips (21 ) consisting of all kinds of conductive substances and designs into the audible warning system in the vehicles by connecting, it is ensured that the driver’s seat belt (10) usage information is obtained.
The details of an alternative embodiment related to a seat belt and conductive substances related to the seat belt (10) misuse prevention system in question are shown in figure 4. As can be seen in Figure 4a, the contact tips (21 ) fixed on the insulating part (24) with mounting screws (25) on the support plate (50) behind of the seat belt (10), the conductive connection (22) cable ends and the contact surface (20) are formed contact and integrated into an audible warning system for the vehicles. Figure 4c shows the situation that occurs when the seat belt (10) is not used by the driver in the present invention. When the seat belt (10) is not fastened, a contact is formed with said contact surface (20) and contact tips (21 ). With the movement of the seat belt (10) in the direction of the arrow during the pull by the driver separates the connection between the contact surface (20) and the contact tips (21 ) becoming shown in figure 4b. In this way, the driver's seat belt (10) usage information is obtained. Details of the another alternative embodiment related to the present invention in question are shown in figure 5. As seen in Figure 5a, a contact is formed with the contact tips (21 ) on a cylindrical object fixed on the support plate (50) at behind the seat belt (10), fixed conductive contact tips (23), conductive connection (22) cable ends and a contact surface (20) are integrated into a vehicle audible warning system. The audible warning system is switched on and off with the movement of the seat belt (10) in the direction of the arrow, while the driver of the vehicle is fastening on and removing off the seat belt (10). Figure 5b, shows the situation of the seat belt (10) for the system in question when used by the driver. Figure 5c, shows the situation that occurs when the seat belt (10) is not used by the driver in the present invention. When the seat belt (10) is not fastened, a contact is formed with said contact surface (20), contact tips (21 ), fixed conductive contact tips (23) and conductor connection (22) cable ends. During the pulling of the seat belt (10) for use by the driver, the movement of the seat belt (10) in the direction of the arrow seen in figure 5c, and separates the connection between the contact surface (20), the contact tips (21 ), the fixed conductive contact tips (23) and the conductor connection (22) cable ends, and becomes as shown in figure 5b. If the driver removes the seat belt (10) while the seat belt (10) is fastened, the seat belt (10) released by the driver becomes in figure 5c with the arrow-direction movement seen in figure 5b. In this way, the driver's seat belt (10) usage information is obtained.
Details of the another alternative embodiment related to the present invention in question are shown in figure 6. As seen in Figure 6a, the contact tips (21 ) fixed on the insulating part (24) with mounting screws (25) on the support plate (50) behind of the seat belt (10), the conductive connection (22) cable ends and the contact surface (20) are formed contact and integrated into an audible warning system for the vehicles. Figure 6b, shows the situation that occurs when the seat belt (10) is used by the driver in the present invention. The situation that occurs when the seat belt (10) related to the system is not used by the driver is shown in figure 6c. When the seat belt (10) is not fastened, said contact surface (20) and contact tips (21 ) form a contact. During the pulling of the seat belt (10) for use by the driver, the movement of the seat belt (10) in the direction of the arrow seen in figure 6c and separates the connection between the contact surface (20) and the contact tips (21 ) becomes as shown in the figure 6b. If the driver removes the seat belt (10) while the seat belt (10) is fastened, the seat belt (10) released by the driver becomes in figure 6c with the arrow-direction movement seen in figure 6b. In this way, the driver's seat belt (10) usage information is obtained.
In addition to the contact data between the conductive contact surface (20) on the seat belt (10) and the conductive contact tips (21 ) are connected, the movement data of a seat belt (10) anchor ring (40) and a movement data of a seat can be interpreted to be used in the audible warning system. In this way, drivers are provided with warnings expressing the necessity to fasten seat belts (10) by visual, auditory or different methods. In addition, with the method subject to the present invention, a practical seat belt (10) warning system is provided by using the inventive system in the seat belts (10) for the fixed rear seats of vehicles, the seats of work or school buses, and intercity coaches.
The figures shown in Figure 7-12 (7 to 12) are figures of the present invention seat belt (100) misuse warning system configuration and other alternative embodiments thereof. In these figures, the seat belt (100) movement mechanism (200) that allows drivers to prevent misuse of seat belts (100) is provided.
The general structure of movement mechanism (200) regarding an anchor ring (300) is shown in figure 7. The situational displacement movement data of the anchor ring (300) obtained by a measuring element (400) that produces a motion-related analog or digital value, placed in a special movement mechanism (200) connected to the seat belt (100) with anchor ring (300), is processed in a control box to prevent drivers from using their seat belts (100) incorrectly.
The components of the movement mechanism (200) in question are shown in detail in figure 8. As can be seen; the system includes a seat belt (100) for the vehicle seat, an anchor ring (300) that allows the seat belt (100) to move, a mounting shaft (210) that secures the parts of the movement mechanism (200), a cocoon claw or flat washer (220), at least one drive transmission gear (230) that transfers the rotational motion, an adjustable resistance adjustment shaft (240), a bearing (250), a moving part (260) related to the seat belt (100) height adjustment mechanism (270), a seat belt height adjustment mechanism (270), a nut (280) for fixing the parts of the movement mechanism (200), an adjustment latch (290) for the height adjustment mechanism (270), at least one retaining ring (310) that allows the bearing (250) and the height adjustment mechanism (270) to be fixed to each other, a measuring element (400) that allows the movements of the anchor ring (300) to be converted to analog or digital value.
The mounting shaft (210); by connecting at least one washer (220), an anchor ring (300), a bearing (250), a height adjustment mechanism (270), at least one retaining ring (310) and a nut (280), a movement mechanism (200) is provided that acts as a single part that allows the anchor ring (300) to be situationally displaced. The outer ring of the bearing (250) is fixed to a moving part (260) related to the height adjustment mechanism (270) by means of the retaining ring ( (310) or by an suitable welding method. The inner ring of the bearing (250) is fixed to the mounting shaft (210). Thanks to the said bearing (250), the anchor ring (300) is provided to move. The drive transmission gears (230) can be parts in any structure used to transfer them to rotational motion. Data on the movement of the anchor ring (300) is obtained by means of the measuring element (400) connected to the drive transmission gear (230) and the adjustable resistance adjustment shaft (240). Value data is read by the measuring element (400) by taking drive from the adjustment shaft (240) and anchor ring (300) movements by means of the drive transmission gears (230), located in the adjustment shaft (240) and the mounting shaft (210) to which the anchor ring (300) is connected. The obtained values are processed into a seat belt (100) control unit.
The situations that occur after the seat belt (100) anchor ring (300) movement is shown in figure 9. Figure 9a shows the situation when the seat belt (100) is not fastened. When the driver fastens the seat belt (100), the movement in the direction of the arrow shown in figure 9b occurs, and the position of the anchor ring (300) of the seat belt (100) changes from the situation in figure 9a to the situation shown in figure 9b. Other situations that occur after the seat belt (100) anchor ring (300) movement are shown in figure 10. Figure 10a shows the situation when the seat belt (100) is not fastened. When the driver fastens the seat belt (100) from the back of the seat, the seat belt (100) moves in the direction of the arrow shown in figure 10b, and the position of the seat belt (100) anchor ring (300) changes from the situation in figure 10a to the situation shown in figure 10b. The aforementioned seat belt (100) anchor ring (300) movements are measured by a measuring element (400). The measuring element (400) sends the motion data of the anchor ring (300) to a seat belt (100) control unit. Flere, the movement data of the anchor ring (300) is processed to determine whether the driver is fastening the seat belt (100) correctly. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the situational displacement movement data of the anchor ring (300) obtained by the measuring element (400) of a movement mechanism (200), the seat position data from a vehicle memory unit, by combining with the data obtained as a result of contact surface (500) on the seat belt (100) contacting the conductive part (600) that performs switching function, it is determined by processing in the control unit whether the seat belt (100) is fastened, and whether the seat belt (100) is passed behind the driver or not.
In cases where vehicle seat position information cannot be obtained from a vehicle memory unit, it is provided to be obtained with a measurement element (400). An alternative embodiment of the measuring element (400) regarding the seat belt (100) misuse warning system, which is the subject of the invention, is shown in figure 11. As can be seen, a measuring element (400) is placed at the bottom of the vehicle seat in order to enable the displacement of a vehicle seat to be converted into analog or digital values. The aforementioned measuring element (400); various analog or digital values are produced by sensing the movement of the seat or anchor ring (300) with variable resistors such as a potentiometer or trimmer potentiometer (trimpot), variable capacities such as variability or transducer types. The measuring element (400) can be connected directly to the seat belt (100) control units, as well as by using an adaptor (electronic/mechanical module) suitable for the equipment of the vehicles.
The switching function of a conductive part (600) with a contact surface (500) is shown in figure 12. The contact surface in question consists of any conductor. The contact surface (500) in question consists of any conductor. With the pulling motion of the seat belt (100) coming out of the winding mechanism (700), the contact surface (500) and the conductive part (600) are disconnected or connected, by switching, the information that the seat belt (100) is fastened by the driver is obtained.
The situational displacement movements of the anchor ring (300) are converted into a digital or analog value with a robust movement mechanism (200) developed in the method of the invention, which consists of different parts but acts as a single part. Thus, this system can be used with various combinations; movement data of the anchor ring (300) for a movement mechanism (200), position data for a seat, data from the electrical circuit generated by conductors on the seat belt (100), and the height ramp (800) measurement data are processed in a vehicle's seat belt (100) control unit in order to inform the driver of whether the seatbelt has been misused by the driver and to warn the driver of different warning methods. The data received from the measurement element (400) is combined with the seat movement or seat belt (100) movement (data to be obtained from the seat belt (100) pulling and/or releasing movement), a switching that can be contacted with the seat belt (100), a length tracking information, information obtained from the types of sensors (900) on the seat belt (100), and similar data. It is processed in the seat belt (100) control unit (ECU) and the driver is warned.
