Description

A REMOTE INSPECTION SYSTEM
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a remote inspection system developed for providing an uninterrupted inspection in a vehicle like an aircraft, a ship or at a location like a plant by means of a video conference meeting realized between an inspector, who exists at a far location, and personnel who exists in said vehicle or at said location.
PRIOR ART
As technology develops, new systems are developed which facilitate lives of people and which provide time-saving for people. One of the developed systems is video conference meetings which provide audible and/or visual communication of at least two persons, who exist at different locations, by means of the connection provided in between via mobile devices. Recently, in various sectors and primarily in business sector, meetings are realized by means of video conference meetings. In video conference meetings, persons can communicate with each other remotely without having to go from one place to another place.
Video conferences can also be realized in the form of “see what I see” video conference meetings. In this manner, at least one person provides capturing of the images of the medium where he/she exists, and he/she provides the captured images to be sent to the person or persons who exist(s) at the other end of the meeting. Thanks to the video meetings realized in this manner, a factory, a house, a ship, etc. can be inspected remotely.
In the present art, by means of “see what I see” video conference meetings, remote inspection can be realized for instance in ships. An inspector provides capturing of the images of a ship by means of a mobile device shown around inside said ship by the ship personnel and provides inspection of the ship by means of the captured images. However, the power of the internet connection of the mobile device in the ship is not the same at every point of the ship. Particularly in ships including metal and in places which are close to machine room, tank, etc., connection problems may occur due to the decrease in the reception power. In this case, the video images which are being sent to the inspector may be interrupted at points where the reception power of the connection is low. The interrupted images are captured again afterwards by the personnel and are sent to the inspector. There is no proving criterion about the timeliness of the images which are sent afterwards. This condition decreases the reliability of the inspection. An unfavorable condition, which may occur in the regions where the inspection process cannot be completed, can lead to both monetary loss and intangible loss for the ship personnel.
As a result, because of the abovementioned problems, an improvement is required in the related technical field.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a remote inspection system, for eliminating the abovementioned disadvantages and for bringing new advantages to the related technical field.
An object of the present invention is to provide a remote inspection system which provides inspection in a remote and uninterrupted manner in a vehicle or in a plant.
In order to realize the abovementioned objects and the objects which are to be deducted from the detailed description below, the present invention is a remote inspection system for providing remote inspection of a predetermined location by means of a video conference meeting realized in a remote and uninterrupted manner between an inspector, who exists at a far location from said predetermined location, and a personnel who exists at said predetermined location and who has a mobile device. Accordingly, the improvement of the present invention is that the subject matter remote inspection system comprises an image sensor for providing capturing of images during said video conference provided to said mobile device; a processor unit provided in a manner taking data from said image sensor; a memory unit associated with said processor unit in a manner reading and/or writing data; a communication unit where the processor unit is connected in a manner providing data transfer to a remote server; the processor unit is configured to provide capturing of images instantaneously from the image sensor by the mobile device shown around by personnel who exists in said location during video conference; to provide recording of the data, received from the image sensor, to the memory unit instantaneously; to provide sending of the images, received from the memory unit, to the server by means of the communication unit in cases where the connection is not limited. Thus, in case the inspector is at a location which is far from the location which is subjected to inspection, the inspector realizes an uninterrupted real-time inspection by means of video conference. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, the processor unit is configured to send the data, recorded to the memory unit in cases where the connection between the communication unit and the server is limited, to the server by means of the communication unit at the first instant, where the connection is not limited, such that said data includes the time and hour information. Thus, as the images, which exist at the instant when the connection is broken, are sent to the inspector such that said images include time and hour information, the inspection is completed in a correct and uninterrupted manner.
In another possible embodiment of the present invention, the processor unit is configured to provide decrease of the amount of images sent from the memory unit to the server in unit time for providing protection of image quality and thereby provide high image quality. Thus, the images, sent to the inspector, are clearer and have higher quality.
In another possible embodiment of the present invention, in cases where the connection is limited, the processor unit is configured to provide photograph capturing while video record is being realized by means of the image sensor at the same time.
In another possible embodiment of the present invention, the processor unit is configured to provide recording of the data, received from the image sensor, to the memory unit in cases where the connection is limited and/or where there is no connection. Thus, all images captured from the image sensor are first of all recorded in the memory unit, and in case the connection is broken, the video images, captured as from the instant when the connection is broken, are sent to the inspector as soon as the connection is reestablished.
In another possible embodiment of the present invention, a user terminal, connected to the server, is provided to the inspector. Thus, the inspector can connect to the server in a remote manner and can access the images.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
In Figure 1 , a representative view of the remote inspection system is given.
In Figure 2, a representative view of the operation scenario of the remote inspection system is given. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a remote inspection system (10) designed with an innovative architecture in order to provide remote inspection of a predetermined location (20) by means of a video conference meeting realized in a remote and uninterrupted manner between an inspector (30), who exists at a far location, and a personnel (40) who exists at said predetermined location (20).
As shown in Figure 1 , said remote inspection system (10) comprises a mobile device (100) for providing realization of video conference meeting of said personnel (40) with said inspector (30). In a possible embodiment of the present invention, said mobile device (100) can be a smart phone, a tablet, etc. and an electronic device provided in a manner realizing video meeting. Said mobile device (100) comprises an image sensor (110) embodied to provide capturing of images during video conference meeting. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, said image sensor (110) can be a camera, etc. provided to the mobile device (100). There is a processor unit (120) configured to receive data from the image sensor (110). There is a memory unit (130) embodied to allow data reading and writing by said processor unit (120). There is a communication unit (140) embodied to provide sending or receiving data to/from a server (200), which exists remotely, by the control unit. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, as said communication unit (140), a WiFi module, etc. is used which is embodied to provide internet connection. There is a user terminal (300) which provides access to said server (200) and embodied to provide realization of video conference meeting of the inspector (30) with said personnel (40). In a possible embodiment of the present invention, as said user terminal (300), an electronic device can be provided like a smart phone, a tablet, a computer, etc. embodied to provide supporting and displaying of the images taken from the communication unit (140).
With reference to Figure 1 and 2, the processor unit (120) provides instantaneously capturing of the images of the location (20) from the image sensor (110) by means of the mobile device (100) shown around by the personnel (40) who exist at said location during video conference. The images, captured by means of the image sensor (110), are recorded to the memory unit (130) in a manner including time and hour data instantaneously by means of the processor unit (120). The processor unit (120) provides recording of the data, captured from the image sensor (110), to the memory unit (130) for each condition where the internet connection is limited and/or where there is no internet connection. The processor unit (120) provides sending of the data, received from the memory unit (130), to the remote server (200) instantaneously by means of the communication unit (140) in cases where the internet connection is not limited. The inspector (30) can display the images, captured by the personnel (40), by means of the user terminal (300) connected to the server (200). In cases where the internet connection between the communication unit (140) and the server (200) is not limited, said process steps are instantaneously repeated and the video images are transferred to the user terminal (300) instantaneously. In cases where the connection between the communication unit (140) and the server (200) is limited, the processor unit (120) provides sending of the data, recorded in the memory unit (130) in a manner including time and hour data, to the server (200) by means of the communication unit (140) at the first instant when the connection is provided. The data is sent in a delayed manner but the data includes the real time data. The video records sent in delayed manner are displayed in a playback manner and the data, which exists at the instant when the connection is limited, is prevented from being lost. The processor unit (120) is moreover configured to provide the image quality to be high by providing decrease of the amount of images sent from the memory unit (130) to the server (200) in unit time for providing protection of the image quality. The processor unit (120) is moreover embodied to provide photographing at the same time while video record is being captured by means of the image sensor (110) by the processor unit (120) in cases where the connection is limited.
An exemplary operation scenario of the present invention is described below;
Inspection is realized by means of video conference between ship personnel (40) who exist in a ship and an inspector (30) who exists at a remote location from the ship. Video meeting is realized during the duration, where internet connection is provided, by means of a mobile device (100) by the ship personnel (40) and by means of a user terminal (300) by a user. The ship personnel (40) shows around said mobile device (100) inside the ship and shows the places, where inspection shall be realized, to the inspector (30) by means of video during the video conference. For instance, the ship personnel (40) provides showing of the necessary places of the ship like deckhouse of the ship and the machine room, pump room, bilges, ballast tanks, cargo tanks, ship’s holds and similar parts, which exist at the bottom part of the ship, to the inspector (30) by means of video. In case the internet connection is not limited, video images are captured by means of the image sensor (110) provided to the mobile device (100) shown around by the ship personnel (40). The image sensor (110) moreover provides photographing during capturing of video images. The video images and/or photographs, captured from the image sensor (110), are recorded to the memory unit (130) by means of the processor unit (120) in a manner including time and hour data instantaneously. The communication unit (140) provides the internet connection. In both cases where the internet connection is limited or not limited, the processor unit (120) provides recording of the video data and/or photographs to the memory unit (130). The processor unit (120) provides sending of the images, recorded to the memory unit (130), to the remote server (200) by means of the communication unit (140). The inspector (30) can instantaneously access the video images by means of the user terminal (300) connected to the server (200).
In case the internet connection is broken while the ship personnel (40) is showing around in the ship, the processor unit (120) provides recording of the data, received from the image sensor (110), to the memory unit (130). Afterwards, the images, recorded in the memory unit (130), are sent to the server (200) by means of the communication unit (140) at the first instant when the connection is provided and said images are transferred to the user terminal (300) from the server (200). Thus, even in case of internet disconnection, the images are taken in a real-time manner, and these images are transferred to the inspector (30) at the first instant when the internet connection is provided. This provides the inspector (30) to display the location in an uninterrupted and complete manner even in mediums where there is no internet connection or even in case of internet connection interruptions.
In an exemplary operation scenario of the present invention, inspection is made by means of video meeting realized between a captain, who is in a ship in open sea, and an inspector (30) who is at a central unit which is ashore. Video conference meeting is realized between electronic mobile devices (100) by means of a first mobile application provided in the smart phone of the captain and by means of a second application provided in the computer of the inspector (30). The captain is provided to show around the smart phone as from the deck of the ship until the machine room during the video conference started by means of mobile applications. The inspector (30) instantaneously monitors the video and provides inspection of the ship. The connection between the mobile devices (100) is provided through internet. The internet connection weakens as from the upper parts of the ship towards the lower parts of the ship. There is no internet connection at some points. The video meeting is recorded, when the internet connection is broken, by means of the remote inspection system (10) provided to the mobile device (100) of the captain. The recorded data is kept in the memory unit (130). The images recorded in the memory unit (130) are transferred from the phone of the captain to the computer of the inspector (30) in case internet connection is provided. Thus, the inspector (30) can remotely inspect the parts of the ship where there is no internet connection particularly the lower inner parts of the ship. The protection scope of the present invention is set forth in the annexed claims and cannot be restricted to the illustrative disclosures given above, under the detailed description. It is because a person skilled in the relevant art can obviously produce similar embodiments under the light of the foregoing disclosures, without departing from the main principles of the present invention.
