Abstract

The present invention relates to a system (1) for determining that subscribers - who are connected to private networks - are in roaming by detecting their locations from their link address locations and information such as location/tracking area code, cell ID.

Description

A SYSTEM FOR DETECTING THAT SUBSCRIBERS ARE IN ROAMING
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a system for determining that subscribers -who are connected to private networks- are in roaming by detecting their locations from their link address locations and information such as location/tracking area code, cell ID.
Background of the Invention
Today a lot of services providing service in different fields need the information whether users are located in the country where they get service or in another country, i.e. abroad. This is due to the fact that calls for fraud purposes are made abroad in the banking sector or telecom operators determine the services they will offer to their subscribers, the benefits they will provide and change the pricing. Even though detection of roaming is performed in case of a differentiation by country code (CC) and mobile network code (MNC) today, there may be cases wherein country and mobile network code does not vary. Therefore, today there is need for a solution which enables to detect the roaming status in cases where subscribers are in roaming but the country and mobile network code does not vary.
The European patent document no. EP1448013A2, an application in the state of the art, discloses a system for realizing a wireless network connection by establishing connection with infrastructures of wired and wireless telecommunication networks. In the system subject to the said invention, it is enabled to try alternative bands in cases where audio and data communication cannot be provided by using an end-user wireless communication device operating in a plural band and plural mode. In the said invention, the end-user wireless communication device connects to a public land mobile network comprising components of mobile switching center, base station controller, base station transceiver and local/visitor location register. Location information, mobile identification number, electronic serial number, mobile directory number, roaming information and service shape information of the end user wireless communication device are stored within the local/visitor location register in the current invention and it is ensured to regulate communication of an end-user wireless communication device by realizing data sharing through query of data related to incoming calls.
Summary of the Invention
An objective of the present invention is to realize a system for detecting that subscribers are in roaming by determining the roaming status in private networks which have no country code or are international extension of an operator, and their locations from their link address locations and information such as location/tracking area code, cell ID.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system for using the VLR (Visited Location Register) address or the MME (Mobility Management Entity) address and the location area code of service (LAC - Location Area Code) and the cell identifier (Cell ID) information in order to detect the roaming in private networks.
Another objective of the present invention is to realize a system for sharing the information of roaming being carried out in private networks, with third persons.
Detailed Description of the Invention “A system for detecting that subscribers are in roaming” realized to fulfil the objectives of the present invention is shown in the figure attached, in which:
Figure 1 is a schematic view of the inventive system for detecting that subscribers are in roaming.
The components illustrated in the figure are individually numbered, where the numbers refer to the following:
1. System
2. Database
3. Network
4. Server
The inventive system (1) for detecting the roaming status in private networks which have no country code or are international extension of an operator comprises: at least one database (2) which is configured to store at least one of the VLR (visitor location register) and the MME (mobility management register) address information, the location area code (LAC) / the tracking area code (TAC), the cell identifier (Ci-Cell Id), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI - Enhanced Cell ID) information of private networks; at least one network (3) which is configured to ensure that query is made on it by the MSISDN information and to reply the query; and at least one server (4) which is configured to be in communication with the database (2) and the network (3); to realize data exchange over this communication established; to create a roaming query with the MSISDN information the roaming status of which is requested to be learnt; to query the last logged in the MME and/or VLR address by the MSISDN data; to decide that the subscriber is in roaming when it is determined that the MME and/or VLR address is different than the home network address; to query the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI) of the base station whereby the subscriber establishes connection, the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) whereto the base station whereby the subscriber establishes connection belongs when it determines that the MME and/or VLR address is identical with the home network address; to compare the obtained information of the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI), the location area code (LAC) and the tracking area code (TAC) with the records kept in the database (2); and to decide that the subscriber is in roaming when at least one of the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI), the location area code (LAC) and the tracking area code (TAC) is included in the database (2).
In the inventive system (1), the database (2) is configured to be in communication with the server (4); to store the VLR (visitor location register) and the MME (mobility management register) address information, the location area code (LAC) / the tracking area code (TAC), the cell identifier (Ci-Cell Id), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI - Enhanced Cell ID) information of private networks that have no country code or are international extension of an operator; and to share these information with the server (4). Thus, the server (4) can decide that the subscriber is in roaming in the event of a match by comparing the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI) of the base station wherefrom the subscriber gets service or the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) of the base station whereby the subscriber establishes connection with the data in the database (2) in order to determine whether the subscriber is in roaming or not in case that the MME and/or VLR address is identical with the home network address. In the inventive system (1), the network (3) is configured to be in communication with the server (4) and to provide the MME and/or VLR address information to the queries made by the server (4) with the MSISDN information over this communication established. By means of the MME and/or VLR address information provided by the network (3), the server (4) can decide whether the MSISDN information queried gets service from the home network address and thus the subscriber is in roaming or not.
In the inventive system (1), the server (4) is configured to realize data exchange with the database (2) and the network (3) and to query the VLR and/or MME address in the network by the MSISDN information; to access the VLR and/or MME address information whereby the subscriber logs in; to compare the accessed MME and/or VLR address information with the home network address; to decide that the subscriber is in roaming when it determines that the MME and/or VLR address is different than the home network address and that the subscriber is not in roaming when determines that the MME and/or VLR address is identical with than the home network address. The server (4) is configured to query the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI) of the base station whereby the subscriber establishes connection or the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) whereto the base station whereby the subscriber establishes connection belongs in the event that the MME and/or VLR address whereby the subscriber logs in is identical with the home network address; to query the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI), the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) information obtained following the query in the database (2); to decide that the subscriber is in roaming when at least one of the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI), the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) information is included in the database (2) and that the subscriber is in roaming when at least one of the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI), the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) information is not included in the database (2) following the query.
In the inventive system (1), the server (4) is configured to make a query in the network (3) via certain combinations by using the MME address information, the cell identifier (CI), the enhanced cell identifier (ECI), the location area code (LAC) or the tracking area code (TAC) information. The server (4) is preferably configured to make a query in the database (2) via by MME-TAC-ECI or VLR- LAC-CI combinations. The server (4) is configured to decide that the subscriber is in roaming when it accesses at least one of the combinations in the database (2).
In the inventive system (1), the server (4) is configured to provide a query interface in order to ensure that the information of roaming being carried out in private networks are shared with third persons, and to enable third persons to log in. Thus, the server (4) makes a query of roaming information by the MSISDN information input over the interface and provides reply to third persons over the interface.
With the inventive system (1), international roaming can be detected in private networks which do not have their own country code or an operator extension. Therefore, international roaming information is detected in private networks by collating the VLR (Visited Location Register) address or the MME (Mobility Management Entity) address and location area code of service (LAC - Location Area Code) and the cell identifier (Cell ID) information as well, not information such as CC or MNC.
Within these basic concepts; it is possible to develop various embodiments of the inventive system (1) for detecting that subscribers are in roaming; the invention cannot be limited to examples disclosed herein and it is essentially according to claims.
