Abstract

The invention provides an underwater cleaning device, which includes a body onto which at least one rotatable scouring device is mounted, arranged to project from a working face of the body, at least one motor drivingly connected to the at least rotatable scouring device and a suction intake positioned proximate the at least one rotatable scouring device for collecting fouling displaced from a submerged surface by the at least one rotatable scouring device, when in use. The invention further described an underwater cleaning system, whereby the underwater cleaning device is adherable onto a surface of an underwater object in order to detach fouling therefrom and to capture the fouling-water suspension by means of the suction intake and a water treatment plant connected downstream and in flow communication with the suction intake, operable to purify the fouling-water suspension being collected from the suction intake.
