Abstract

The present disclosure provides a disinfectant composition for textiles comprising a quaternary ammonium compound, a solvent media and an essential fragrance, and a method of preparation thereof. The present disclosure also provides a method for disinfecting a textile substrate. Furthermore, the present disclosure provides use of a disinfectant composition as an antiviral & anti-microbial finishing agent in textile industry. The disinfectant composition of the present disclosure is organic and biodegradable and environment friendly and has antiviral property up to 99.99 %.

Description

DISINFECTANT COMPOSITION, PROCESS OF PREPARATION THEREOF AND
METHOD FOR DISINFECTING A TEXTILE
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present disclosure relates to a disinfectant composition for textiles. The present disclosure also relates to a method for disinfecting a textile substrate. The present disclosure also relates to a process for preparing a disinfectant composition. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to the use of a disinfectant composition as an antiviral & anti-microbial finishing agent in textile industry.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Looking to the current scenario of year 2019 to 2020, the SARS-COVID-2 becomes a pandemic. From this situation and being into future perspective, it can be expected such more number of infected cases in the upcoming time. To keep the human society protected and carry on, it seems a requirement of an essential protective solution to make textile clothing protective against viral infection as to make the human society carry on.
As per US20200154712A1 the disinfectant composition for treating textiles and other substrates for humans and pets in e.g. apparel and hospitals, comprises substrate, disinfecting agents, antiviral agents, antifungal agents, emulsifying agents and vehicle. A disinfectant textile composition having antimicrobial, wash durable, optionally enhanced with multifunctional properties. The textile substrate treated with a combination of one, several or all of a quaternary ammonium organosilane compound, and/or silver chloride and/or other types of silver salts, and/or Poly-glucosamine, and/or propiconazole, and/or bio-coated silver particles and/or poly-hexa-methylene-biguanide that the entire cross section of the substrate becomes antimicrobial, anti-fungal and anti-viral in nature and meets the prescribed standards to qualify as disinfecting. The method comprises applying a disinfecting treating composition using one or more of an exhaust, padding, coating or spraying process. US 6962608 teaches about a process for preparing an antimicrobial fiber, said process comprising a) immersing a textile in an aqueous treating solution comprising an organic acid, wherein said organic acid has at least two carboxyl groups, b) treating said fiber with an oxidizing agent to produce a peroxycarboxylic acid function, thereby preparing an antimicrobial textile containing an average of 6 weight percent of the organic acid, which not laundered at all demonstrated over 99% reduction of E. Coli.
CN111549533A depicts an anti-viral and anti-bacterial finishing solution useful for high-density polyester/nylon composite fiber fabrics, comprises e.g. anti-viral and anti-bacterial agent, ethanol and water, and anti-bacterial agent is e.g. guanidine compounds.
US2791518 patent describes a method of importing microbial properties of articles such as textiles by immersing the article in a first aqueous solution containing a water soluble base nitrogen compound (ammonia) and a monovalent silver salt soluble in a said solution, followed by a second immersion in a second solution containing a second salt capable of ion exchange with the silver salt.
US6962608B1 provides durable and regenerable antimicrobial fibers and methods for preparing the same. These fibers have excellent colorfastness and wash fastness, and are environmentally friendly. The antimicrobial fibers of this invention are suitable for a variety of purposes, including medical uses, sportswear, and uniforms.
The developments of the prior art are non-biodegradable and metal oxide based. No statement found in the literature regarding soft feel, good durability and 99.99% anti-viral property.
Thus, to avoid the risk of infection through textile apparels, there is a need for a disinfectant composition that is organic, bio-degradable, skin-friendly, applicable to textile and possesses antiviral and anti-microbial properties. OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION
The objective of present disclosure is to provide a disinfectant composition which is applicable to textile and possesses antiviral and anti-microbial properties.
Another objective of present disclosure is to provide a method for disinfecting a textile substrate.
It is a further objective of the present disclosure to provide a disinfectant composition having antiviral property up to 99.99 %.
Further, the objective of present disclosure is to provide a disinfectant composition that can withstand to multiple washes of textile.
It is also an objective of the present disclosure to provide a use of a disinfectant composition as an antiviral & anti-microbial finishing agent in textile industry.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
An aspect of present disclosure provides a disinfectant composition for textiles comprising: 5- 15 wt. % of a quaternary ammonium compound; 1 - 5 wt. % of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol and 1- 3 wt. % of an essential fragrance.
Another aspect of present disclosure provides a method for disinfecting a textile substrate, the method comprising: processing a textile substrate to obtain a processed textile; and soaking the processed textile in a disinfectant composition comprising 5- 15 wt% of a quaternary ammonium compound; 1- 5 wt% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol; and 1- 3 wt.% of an essential fragrance at a temperature in the range of 35 - 40 °C for a time period in the range of 30 - 45 minutes to obtain a disinfected textile. Further an aspect of present disclosure provides a process for preparing a disinfectant composition comprising: adding 5- 15 wt.% of a quaternary ammonium compound in 1-5 wt% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol while stirring for a time period in the range of 45 to 60 minutes to obtain a solution; and adding 1- 3 wt. % of essential fragrance to the solution under conditions to obtain a disinfectant composition.
Another aspect of the present disclosure provides a use of a disinfectant composition as an antiviral & anti-microbial finishing agent in textile industry.
The disinfectant composition of the present disclosure can be applied to various textile substrates such as cotton, viscous, polyester, nylon and their blends at pad dry cure method in textile industry, also can be used as fabric conditioner while washing clothes.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present disclosure provides a disinfectant composition for textiles comprising: 5- 15 wt. % of a quaternary ammonium compound; 1 - 5 wt. % of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol and 1- 3 wt. % of an essential fragrance.
The quaternary ammonium compound disclosed in the present disclosure is selected from the group consisting of benzalkonium chloride, benzothonium chloride, alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, alkyl didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, dialkyl dimethyl ammonium chloride and Cetylpyridinium chloride. The essential fragrance as disclosed in present disclosure is primarily an essential oil selected from the group consisting of Lavandula angustifolia, Nyctanthes arbor-tristis, Cananga odorata or a combination thereof. The essential oil used in the present disclosure has been obtained commercially.
Lavandula angustifolia is a native to countries bordering the Mediterranean. While, the ancient Romans used lavender in their baths, also it was used to flavor beverages and sweets and has a number of applications in herbal medicine. Nyctanthus arbortristis (Parijata) commonly known as night jasmine, a wonderful plant is described in Ayurveda with its enormous medicinal value. It is mostly found in sub-tropical Himalayas of Nepal and southern parts of India and widely cultivated in tropical and sub-tropical regions in all over the world. Conventionally, the flowers of the plant are known to be effective as stomachic, carminative, astringent, antibilious, expectorant, and hair tonic and are used in the treatment of piles and various skin diseases and are a source of an essential oil for perfumes. Cananga odorata which is commonly called ylang- ylang and found natively in tropical Asia such as Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and some other islands of Indian Ocean, mainly the Comoro, Nossi Be, and Madagascar islands. It is important source of the perfume ylang-ylang and its essential oils have already been widely utilized in the food industry as well as in the perfume industry and aromatherapy. The essential oil is antipruritic, antifungal, antiseptic and sedative, relieving tension, lowering blood pressure and reducing fever.
In the present disclosure, the solvent media is consisted of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in a weight ratio in the range of 1-2:1- 3:l-5: l-3.
The present disclosure also provides a method for disinfecting a textile substrate, the method comprising: processing a textile substrate to obtain a processed textile; and soaking the processed textile in a disinfectant composition comprising 5- 15 wt% of a quaternary ammonium compound; 1- 5 wt% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol; and 1- 3 wt.% of an essential fragrance at a temperature in the range of 35 - 40 °C for a time period in the range of 30 - 45 minutes to obtain a disinfected textile.
In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the processing of textile substrate is done by washing the textile substrate with a detergent to obtain a washed textile substrate. This washed textile substrate is then subjected to rinsing with water to obtain the processed textile. Further, the washing of textile can be done with any commercially available detergent.
The textile substrate in the present disclosure is selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, rayon, nylon and their blends.
The present disclosure further provides a process for preparing a disinfectant composition comprising: adding 5- 15 wt.% of a quaternary ammonium compound in 1-5 wt% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol while stirring for a time period in the range of 45 to 60 minutes to obtain a solution; and adding 1- 3 wt. % of essential fragrance to the solution under conditions to obtain a disinfectant composition.
In an embodiment of present disclosure, the quaternary ammonium compound is dissolved in demineralized water while magnetically stirring at a temperature in the range of 25 to 60 °C for a time period in the range of 15 to 30 minutes prior to addition of the solvent media.
In another embodiment of present disclosure, the essential fragrance is added under conditions which include stirring the solution for a time period in the range of 15 to 30 minutes followed by cooling down to a temperature in the range of 20 to 27 °C to obtain the disinfection composition.
Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol, Polyethylene glycol (PEG) & Glycerol which is a humectant type emollient are preferred for the topical composition of the present disclosure. Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol, Polyethylene glycol (PEG) & Glycerol are pleasant to use, readily available and economical. In the present formulation, it has the role of conditioner for textile fabric. US 2010/0029780 Al studied the concentration for topical composition.
Essential fragrance is primarily an essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia. Further, a combination essential oils of Lavandula angustifolia, Nyctanthes arbor-tristis and Cananga odorata can be used in a weight ratio of 2:2: 1 or 3:2:1. It is an additional ingredient to improve the aesthetic properties of textile fabric upon application.
The quaternary amine salt itself in exhaustion with fabrics distributed uniformly in the fiber and the solvent media comprising Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol, helps to deposit the salt on the fabric for multiple washes, where these solvents intact with the OH group of the cellulose and forms a week hydrogen bond with solvents and quaternary amine. This is the synergistic effect obtained by the combination of quaternary amine salt with above solvents.
The present disclosure also provides a use of a disinfectant composition as an antiviral & antimicrobial finishing agent in textile industry to produce a disinfected textile which can withstand multiple washes.
EXAMPLES
The following examples are given by way of illustration of the present invention and should not be construed to limit the scope of present disclosure. It is to be understood that both the foregoing general description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory only and are intended to provide further explanation of the subject matter.
The detergent used for washing the textile substrate in below examples can be chosen from any commercially available standard detergents like Ariel, Surf excel, Rin, Nirma, etc.
The essential fragrance used in below examples can be an essential oil of lavandula angustifolia, Nyctanthes arbor-tristis or Cananga odorata, which are commercially available. Further the essential fragrance can also be a combination of essential oils of lavandula angustifolia, Nyctanthes arbor-tristis and Cananga odorata in a weight ratio of 2:2:1 or 3:2: 1.
Example 1 (According to invention):
An exact quantity of 20 g (10 wt% ) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 176 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 4CJ C. Further, 2 g (7 wt% ) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 1:1:1 :1 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 2.0 g (1.0 wt%) essential fragrance were added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring the solution was cool down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 grams per liter (gpl) (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters’ water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be 98.15 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 2 (According to invention):
20 g (10 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 172 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 4 O’ C. Further, 4 g (2 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 0:0: 1 : 1 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 4.0 g (2.0 wt%) essential fragrance was added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring, the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be greater than 98.15 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 3 (According to invention): 10 g (5 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 186 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 40s C. Further, 2 g (1 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 1:1:1:1 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 2.0 g (1.0 wt%) essential fragrance were added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring, the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be greater than 96.85 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 4 (According to invention):
30 g (15 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 162 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 40 C. Further, 4 g (2 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 1: 1 : 1 : 1 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 4.0 g (2.0 wt%) essential fragrance were added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring, the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be greater than 99.87 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 5 (According to invention):
20 g (10 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 168 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 40 C. Further, 10 g (5 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 1: 1 : 1 : 1 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 2.0 g (1.0 wt%) essential fragrance were added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring, the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be greater than 99.25% as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 6 (According to invention):
20 g (10 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 172 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 4 O’ C. Further, 2 g (7 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 1:1:1:1 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 6 g (3 wt%) essential fragrance was added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring, the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters’ water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be greater than 99.07 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 7 (Comparative):
8 g (4 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 188 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 40s C. Further, 2 g (7 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 0:0: 1:0 were poured into above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further 2.0 g (1.0 wt%) essential fragrance were added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes. After completion of stirring, the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be 90 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 8 (Comparative):
8 g (4 wt%) quaternary ammonium compound was weighted carefully in a 500 ml conical flask and 184 ml of demineralized water was added solely into it. The solution was then magnetically stirred for 30 minutes at a temperature of 4(T C. Then, 4 g (2 wt%) of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in the ratio of 1:1: 1: 1 were poured into the above solution while stirring for another 5 minutes. Further, 4.0 g (2.0 wt%) essential fragrance were added to the solution and kept remain in stirring for 5 minutes after completion of stirring the solution was cooled down to room temperature. From the solution, 2 gpl (2000 ppm) was applied at room temperature for 30 minutes soaking of 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 liters water. The antiviral and antimicrobial effect was observed to be 95.55 % as per test method AATCC 100.
Example 9: The developed disinfectant composition in Example 2 was applied to 135 GSM plain weave cotton fabrics after washing with 4 gpl Ariel detergent followed by rinsing with 4 Itr. water and soaking at room temperature for 30 minutes with 2.5 gpl, 5gpl and 10 gpl.
From the Table 1, it was found that the fabric soaked with 2.5 gpl, 5 gpl & 10 gpl solution possess 99.93, 99.96 & 99.98 % reduction of Virus (MS2 Bacteriophage) in 2 hrs. while, 99.98 % in 24 hrs. respectively. While, un-soaked shows antiviral activity of 9.03 % and 5.32 % in 2 hrs. and 24 hrs. respectively as per test method AATCC 100-2019.
Antimicrobial activity against S. Aureus and K. pneumonia was observed to be 99.98 & 99.28 % with 2.5 gpl, > 99.99 & 99.95 % with 5 gpl and >99.99 & 99.98 % with 10 gpl respectively w.r.t test method AATCC 100-2012. Antibacterial activity w.r.t. test method JIS L 1902: 2015 (Quantitative Absorption Method for textile) against S. Aureus and K. pneumonia was 99.99 % for all three soaked sample & 99.93 % with 2.5 gpl, 99.99 % with 5 gpl & 10 gpl respectively.

Example 10: The sample soaked with 10 gpl solution in Example 9 was accessed for wash durability as per method ISO 6330 and the antiviral and antimicrobial test result is presented in Table 2 and found 99.98% antiviral activity at 5th washing cycle where, antimicrobial activity was 99.45% and 99.33 % against S. Aureus & K. Pneumoniae respectively.

The disinfectant composition of the present application is organic and biodegradable and environment friendly. Effectiveness of anti-viral activity can withstand to multiple washes. Its skin friendly property makes it user comfort and luxury. ADVANTAGES OF THE DISINFECTANT COMPOSITION OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
1 . 99.99% effective against non-enveloped virus.
2. Skin-friendly (as it is silver/cupper/zinc ion free) and soft touch such that fabrics are comfortable to wear and aesthetically pleasing.
3. Biodegradable
4. Easy to handle
5. Organic in nature
6. Don’t interfere with the colored fabrics (no leach out of color)
7. Can be applicable to all types of fabrics like cotton, polyester, CO-PES blend, rayon, nylon etc.
The disinfectant composition of the present disclosure has potential application as an antiviral & anti-microbial finishing agent in textile industry, which can be used in medical and healthcare garment as well protective garments for health workers. It can apply to mask for protective antiviral layer. It also has potential application as an antiviral & anti-microbial fabric conditioner to general consumers during washing as sanitizer or after washing in rinsing cycle as fabric antiviral & anti-microbial conditioner. Hygiene, homecare bath care textile can use it as antiviral & microbial fabric smart application in office and home. As there is a need of antimicrobial textile for inner and intimate garment, so this could be suitable solution.
Although the subject matter has been described in considerable detail with reference to certain preferred embodiments thereof, other embodiments are possible. As such, the spirit and scope of the subject matter should not be limited to the description of the preferred embodiment contained therein.

Claims

WE CLAIM:
1. A disinfectant composition for textiles comprising:
5-15 wt.% of a quaternary ammonium compound;
1-5 wt.% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol; and
1-3 wt.% of an essential fragrance.
2. The disinfectant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the quaternary ammonium compound is selected from the group consisting of benzalkonium chloride, benzothonium chloride, alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, alkyl didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, dialkyl dimethyl ammonium chloride and Cetylpyridinium chloride.
3. The disinfectant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the essential fragrance is an essential oil selected from the group consisting of Lavandula angustifolia, Nyctanthes arbor- tristis and Cananga odorata or a combination thereof.
4. The disinfectant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the solvent media is consisted of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol in a weight ratio in the range of 1-2: 1-3: 1-5: 1-3.
5. A method for disinfecting a textile substrate, the method comprising:
- processing a textile substrate to obtain a processed textile; and
- soaking the processed textile in a disinfectant composition comprising 5- 15 wt.% of a quaternary ammonium compound, 1-5 wt.% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol and 1- 3 wt.% of an essential fragrance at a temperature in the range of 35 - 40 °C for a time period in the range of 30 - 45 minutes to obtain a disinfected textile.
6. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the processing of textile substrate includes washing of the textile substrate with a detergent to obtain a washed textile substrate.
7. The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein the washed textile substrate is subjected to rinsing with water to obtain the processed textile.
8. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the textile substrate is selected from a group consisting of cotton, polyester, rayon, nylon and their blends.
9. A process for preparing a disinfectant composition comprising:
- adding 5-15 wt.% of a quaternary ammonium compound in 1-5 wt.% of a solvent media consisting of Hexylene glycol, Polypropylene glycol (PPG), Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and Glycerol while stirring for a time period in the range of 45 to 60 minutes to obtain a solution; and
- adding 1-3 wt.% of an essential fragrance to the solution under conditions to obtain a disinfectant composition.
10. The process as claimed in claim 9, wherein the quaternary ammonium compound is dissolved in demineralized water while magnetically stirring at a temperature in the range of 25 to 60 °C for a time period in the range of 15 to 30 minutes prior to addition of the solvent media.
11. The process as claimed in claim 9, wherein the conditions include stirring the solution for a time period in the range of 15 to 30 minutes followed by cooling down to a temperature in the range of 20 to 27 °C to obtain the disinfection composition.
