Description

SUPPORT DEVICE FOR CELLPHONES AND THE LIKE
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a support device for cellphones and the like.
As is known, current cellphones, and in particular the so-called “smartphones”, are almost universally equipped with a camera that allows photographs to be taken and video recordings to be made.
To facilitate and improve shooting, various support devices such as tripods, grips, rods, etc. are available on the market.
However, the known devices have several drawbacks: they can be bulky, inconvenient to use and in any case constitute separate accessories which must be carried around.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The aim of this invention is to provide a support device for a cellphone or the like which overcomes the drawbacks of known support systems.
Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a device, suitable for supporting a smartphone and the like in a simple and practical way, even in the most varied positions, in order to allow calibrated video recordings to be made.
Another object of the invention is to provide a support device which allows the smartphone to be attached to any support of ferrous material or suitable for cooperating with a magnet, such as street furniture poles, for example.
A further object of the invention is to provide a support device for a smartphone, allowing it to be used particularly for carrying out interviews, video calls, video recordings, etc., in a variety of positions.
Another object of the invention is to provide a support device of the above type which allows the smartphone to be supported on surfaces having widths of even just a few millimeters.
A further object of the invention is to provide a support device for smartphones and the like, which has extremely reduced weight and dimensions, so as to be easy to handle and not bulky.
The present device, due to its particular constructional characteristics, is capable of offering the most extensive guarantees of reliability and safety in use.
These and other objects are achieved by the device of claim 1 . Preferred embodiments of the device of the invention will be apparent from the remaining claims.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
With particular reference to the numerical symbols of the abovementioned figures, the device of the invention for supporting cellphones and the like, indicated as a whole with the numeral 1 in Figure 1 , comprises a base plate 3 and a magnetic plate 2, both having a substantially quadrangular shape.
As better shown in Figures 10 and 11 , the base plate 3 is formed by a body 8, an insert 9 integral with the body 8 and a double-sided adhesive tape 10, applied on one side to the surface of the insert 9 and, on the other side, to the smartphone 100 or its cover, so as to be able to fix to the latter the base plate 3 of the device 1 .
According to the invention, the base body 8 of the base plate 3 is made of a ferrous metal, suitable for receiving the magnetic action of the plate 2 which, in this way, can be fixed to the same base plate 3 in different positions, either edgewise or flat and with a variety of reciprocal angles.
For its part, the insert 9 is instead made of a material shielding or insulating against the magnetic force of the plate 2, preferably a Permalloy 80 (mumetal) which, in combination with the double-sided adhesive layer 10, guarantees the insulation of the smartphone from the magnetic action of the plate 2.
As said before, the base plate 3 of the device of the invention is preferably fixed to the smartphone cover at about 1 .5 cm from the bottom of the phone cover, to ensure the absence of interference with the internal sensors, normally present in the lower part of the phone. This also allows a wider support angle to be attained in the tripod mode of use.
In its preferred embodiment, shown in Figures 3 to 8, the plate 2 of the device 1 of the invention has a substantially quadrangular shape having, at the edge of its three sides, seats 2a, 2b, 2c for respective magnets 4a, 4b, 4c, preferably magnets of n52 neodymium with parallel magnetization. Thanks to this arrangement, and as better shown in Figure 3, the abovementioned magnets are placed on the edges of the plate 2, thus making their magnetic action available towards the outside of this plate 2, both in the direction of the base plate 3 and in that of a ferrous support 11 supporting the phone 100 (Figure 16).
For the sliding insertion of the magnetic plate 2 on the base plate 3, as shown in Figure 1 , the plate 2 is equipped with a cover 5, with relative cap 6, provided with a shaped guide 7 slidingly cooperating with the corresponding edges of the base plate 3 (Figure 2), with reciprocal insertion in the direction of the arrow F1 in Figure 1. In this position the device 1 is in the rest or non-use condition, with the plate 2 integral with the base 3 due to the action of the magnets 4a, 4b, 4c, substantially forming a single-body support device.
The plate 2 is preferably made of AISI 430 steel and iron, the combination of which with the magnets 4a, 4b, 4c of neodymium n52 guarantees a considerable magnetic effect which, in tripod use mode on posts, allows a weight of up to 0.5 kg to be supported (the heaviest smartphone on the market today is the Apple iPhone 11 pro max weighing 226 g).
Use of AISI 430 steel to make the plate 2 is advantageous because it amplifies the magnetic effect of magnets 4a, 4b, 4c by extending it to all the metal parts of the cover 5. Where it is desired to attenuate the magnetic effect on the outer face of the cover 5, a different steel may be used, that does not amplify the magnetic effect, such as AISI 316 steel. Another possibility is to provide a shielding layer.
According to the embodiment shown in Figure 4A, the cover 5 comprises a shaped guide 7 consisting of a gap in the shoulder on the long side of the plate 2, of a length corresponding to the short side of the base plate 3, so that base 3 and cover 5 can work in sliding mode, even intersecting each other at 90°. According to the present invention, the magnetic plate 2 can be magnetically associated with the base 3 and is configured so as to constitute a support, suitable for positioning the smartphone 100 in various ways, to act as a tripod or other attachment and support system for the smartphone device to a support means 11 of material suitable for receiving the action of the magnets 4a, 4b, 4c, or in a condition of simply resting on a support surface 12 (Figures 13 to 16). For this purpose, the support device 1 is arranged with the plate 2 partially extracted from the base plate 3, in the direction of the arrow F2 of Figure 12.
The magnets inserted in the plate 2 allow the smartphone to be positioned comfortably and effectively for calibrated video shooting, moving the plate 2 on the surface of the base plate 3 if necessary, either in vertical or horizontal use.
A particular advantage of this invention is constituted by the possibility of fixing the smartphone to any object made of ferrous material, for example street furniture poles, and adjusting it at the desired height, to carry out interviews, video calls or video recordings, with a smartphone either vertically or horizontally arranged.
Thanks to the thickness of the plate 2, about 3 mm, the smartphone can be attached to surfaces that are only a few millimeters wide. Portability is the strong point of the apparatus according to this invention. With a thickness of about 3 mm and a weight of about 40 g, the device 1 of the invention turns out to be, both at rest and in use, an accessory that is almost imperceptible to the eye and very compact. The variety of colors provided puts it in line with the fashions of the moment.
By way of example, the device of the invention has rectangular shape and measures approximately 64 x 42 mm with a thickness of approximately 3.2 mm.
The magnets present on the plate 2 are preferably three in number, but this number can vary according to use. Thus, for example, in the use shown in Figures 13 to 15 just one magnet is sufficient, whereas in that illustrated in Figure 16, two are required.
According to a variant of the device of the invention, the plate 2 could also be made entirely of magnetic material, and therefore without the need to use auxiliary magnets yet still performing the same functions as the preferred embodiment, described above and shown in the Figures of the appended drawings.
