Description

A DECORATIVE PANEL ASSEMBLY
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to air conditioners. More specifically, the invention relates to a decorative panel assembly for effortless interchanging of decorative panels onto split air conditioners' indoor units.
Background of the invention
One's common desire to personalize interior spaces per individual preferences is being challenged by the standard industrial design of mass-produced furniture and domestic appliances such as split air conditioners having an indoor unit.
The design of modern indoor units of split air conditioners is extensively developing through the last two decades, where multiple existing solutions offer interchangeable panels of differently designed being fastened or clamped to the indoor units' frame. While allowing the user to choose and replace between several optional panels, the replacement thereof requires basic technical skills and/or using hand tools.
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a decorative panel assembly, suitable for effortless interchanging decorative panels onto split air conditioners' indoor units, not requiring technical skills or special tools.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the description proceeds.
Summary of the Invention
A decorative panel assembly for a split air conditioner's indoor unit, comprising: a first set of peripheral magnets embedded into a frame of said split air conditioner's indoor unit; a cover comprising a second set of peripheral magnets corresponding to said first set of peripheral magnets, a third set of magnets, and a protruding rail, wherein said cover is coupled to said frame of said split air conditioner's indoor unit, by said first and second sets of peripheral magnets; and a metallic plate magnetically coupled to said cover by said third set of magnets, forming a relatively flat magnetic surface, onto which magnetic decorations can be detachably placed, wherein said third set of magnets further providing magnetic coupling force being distributed by said metallic plate.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the decorative panel assembly is provided with a decorative panel, wherein said decorative panel is similarly shaped as the metallic plate.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the third set of magnets is distributed along the center of the cover.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, the decorative panel assembly further comprises suitable means (e.g., apertures) for enabling the projection of information onto the magnetic decorations detachably placed onto the metallic plate.
Brief Description of the Drawings
Fig. 1 schematically illustrates an exploded view of a split air conditioner's indoor unit adapted with a decorative panel assembly, according to an embodiment of the present invention;
Figs. 2A-2B schematically illustrates an optional configuration of magnetic coupling, according to an embodiment of the present invention.
A detailed description of the drawings
The present invention relates to a decorative panel assembly, adapted for effortless interchanging decorative panels of split air conditioners' indoor units. ln the following detailed description, references are made to the accompanying drawings that form a part hereof, which are shown by illustrating specific embodiments or examples. These embodiments may be combined, other embodiments may be utilized, and other changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention.
Fig. 1 schematically illustrates an exploded view of a split air conditioner's indoor unit 100 provided with a decorative panel assembly 110, according to an embodiment of the present invention. The decorative panel assembly 100 illustrated in this figure is particularly convenient because it can be applied as an add-on device to existing indoor units without the need to carry out major alterations in the structure. Indoor unit 100 can be in the form of a common split air conditioner's indoor unit adapted to receive the proposed decorative panel assembly 110 of the invention. Indoor unit 100 comprises an internal air conditioner's apparatus 101, a display module 101a, a frame 102, a decorative panel assembly 110, and a first set of peripheral magnets 111 embedded in frame 102.
In this embodiment, a cover 112 of frame 102 is coupled to frame 102 by a second set of magnets corresponding to the first set of magnets 111 (shown in detail in Figs. 2A-2B). Cover 112 comprises a peripherally protruding rail 112b, into which a metallic plate 113 is fitted within rail 112b, with the support of suitable ledges 113b on its extremity. According to an embodiment of the invention, metallic plate 113 forms a relatively flat surface (i.e., with rail 112b), onto which a decorative panel 114 is removably attached by the distributed magnetic force of a third set of magnets (illustrated in Figs. 2A-2B), thereby enabling an effortless placement and replacement of panel 114 with similarly designed interchangeable panels, for which no special tools nor technical skills are required.
The flat magnetic surface formed by cover 112 and plate 113 enables endless decorative designs of indoor unit 100 (i.e., or any other common air conditioner's indoor unit) provided with assembly 110. One may use many alternative magnetic decorations to be easily placed (i.e., in conjunction or in lieu of panel 114) onto plate 113. According to an embodiment of the invention, decorative panel assembly 110 may comprise apertures 112a (of cover 112) and 113a (of plate 113), that are suitable for enabling the projection of displayed information by display module 101a onto a fully/partially transparent panel 114 (i.e., or any other decoration placed onto plate 113) where applicable by unit 100 and desirable by its user. Of course, assembly 110 can be effortlessly adapted for use with any indoor unit having various displays or not having a display unit at all.
Figs. 2A-2B schematically illustrates a configuration of magnetic coupling, according to another embodiment of the present invention. In this configuration, frame 102 is provided with peripheral magnets 111, to which a corresponding set of peripheral magnets 201 of cover 103 is coupled. Cover 103 comprises a third set of magnets 202 that enables magnetic coupling force to be distributed by metallic plate 113 (of Fig. 1), onto which a magnetic decoration is placed (e.g., panel 114, similarly designed panel, or any other suitable magnetic decoration).
A person skilled in the art will readily appreciate the multiple arrangements and shapes of coupling magnets 111, 201, and 202, which will suit specific embodiments of the proposed decorative panel assembly without departing from the principles claimed by the present invention.
Although embodiments of the invention have been described by way of illustration, it will be understood that the invention may be carried out with many variations, modifications, and adaptations without exceeding the scope of the claims.
