Definitions

  • the invention is in the field of cosmetics and relates to O/W emulsions for cleaning and caring for keratin fibers, comprising vegetable and/or mineral oils, C10-C24 acyl lactylates, zwitterionic and/or amphoteric surfactants and trimethylglycine.
  • the invention also relates to the use of the O/W emulsions for cleaning and caring for human hair.
  • Cosmetic hair cleaning products such as shampoos have been known for a long time and are regularly adapted to the changing needs of consumers.
  • Shampoos primarily serve the purpose of cleaning the hair. To do this, they must have a viscosity suitable for the application, good foaming properties and high detergency. At the same time, consumers want caring shampoos that prevent degreasing of the scalp and leave the hair supple, shiny, soft and easy to comb after cleaning.
  • Good foam properties are understood to mean good foaming ability even when the hair is heavily soiled (such as greasy dirt, hairspray residues, etc.) and high foam volume, foam stability and the ability to be rinsed out.
  • a large number of hair care components have a negative effect on the foam behavior, the setting and/or maintenance of viscosity and the long-term stabilization of shampoos.
  • particulate (polymeric) stabilizers that have been customary up to now have recently been subsumed under the term "microplastic” by environmental organizations and are considered environmentally harmful and undesirable.
  • WO 2020/052914 proposed emulsion shampoos which, in addition to an emulsifier mixture of glyceryl partial esters and alkali metal salts of fatty acids, contain fatty alcohols, sulfate-free surfactants and care polymers.
  • the emulsion shampoos have good foam qualities and a low potential for irritation.
  • the object of the present invention was to provide cleaning emulsion shampoos with very good foaming and care properties.
  • the aim was in particular to provide cleaning emulsion shampoos that are simple and energy-efficient to produce, have a creamy look and feel, can be applied well to the hair and are easy to distribute, do not cause a built-up effect, and include a high proportion of ingredients from natural sources , do not contain any additives (such as solid or liquid microplastic components) for stabilization or viscosity adjustment that are viewed as critical by consumers or NGOs, have high care performance (in particular an improved feel of wet hair compared to comparable products).
  • additives such as solid or liquid microplastic components
  • O/W cleaning emulsions (so-called emulsion shampoos) obtainable in this way have the advantages of a mild shampoo with excellent care performance. They can be easily distributed in the hair and rinsed out.
  • O/W cleansing emulsions according to the invention do not exhibit any built-up effect and show improved volume in dry hair.
  • Another advantage is that higher amounts of different care oils can be incorporated into the emulsions without the presence of sulphate surfactants being necessary (for example to optimize the foam volume).

Description

Emulsionsshampoos' emulsion shampoos'
The invention is in the field of cosmetics and relates to O/W emulsions for cleaning and caring for keratin fibers, comprising vegetable and/or mineral oils, C10-C24 acyl lactylates, zwitterionic and/or amphoteric surfactants and trimethylglycine.
The invention also relates to the use of the O/W emulsions for cleaning and caring for human hair.
Cosmetic hair cleaning products such as shampoos have been known for a long time and are regularly adapted to the changing needs of consumers.
Shampoos primarily serve the purpose of cleaning the hair. To do this, they must have a viscosity suitable for the application, good foaming properties and high detergency. At the same time, consumers want caring shampoos that prevent degreasing of the scalp and leave the hair supple, shiny, soft and easy to comb after cleaning.
Good foam properties are understood to mean good foaming ability even when the hair is heavily soiled (such as greasy dirt, hairspray residues, etc.) and high foam volume, foam stability and the ability to be rinsed out.
A large number of hair care components have a negative effect on the foam behavior, the setting and/or maintenance of viscosity and the long-term stabilization of shampoos.
In the past, this problem was usually solved by increasing the surfactant content and/or by incorporating crystalline, polymeric and/or alkoxylated stabilizers.
Above all, some of the particulate (polymeric) stabilizers that have been customary up to now have recently been subsumed under the term "microplastic" by environmental organizations and are considered environmentally harmful and undesirable.
But consumers are also increasingly demanding more natural hair care shampoos that have excellent foaming properties, a rich texture and a visually appealing appearance.
WO 2020/052914 proposed emulsion shampoos which, in addition to an emulsifier mixture of glyceryl partial esters and alkali metal salts of fatty acids, contain fatty alcohols, sulfate-free surfactants and care polymers.
The emulsion shampoos have good foam qualities and a low potential for irritation.
There is nevertheless a need for emulsion shampoos with good cleaning power, the use of which does not cause the hair to become undesirably weighed down (avoiding a so-called built-up effect), and which in particular improve the feel of wet hair. In addition, there is a need for improvement with regard to satisfactory application of emulsion shampoos to the hair.
The object of the present invention was to provide cleaning emulsion shampoos with very good foaming and care properties.
The aim was in particular to provide cleaning emulsion shampoos that are simple and energy-efficient to produce, have a creamy look and feel, can be applied well to the hair and are easy to distribute, do not cause a built-up effect, and include a high proportion of ingredients from natural sources , do not contain any additives (such as solid or liquid microplastic components) for stabilization or viscosity adjustment that are viewed as critical by consumers or NGOs, have high care performance (in particular an improved feel of wet hair compared to comparable products).
Surprisingly, it has been shown that the aforementioned objects can be achieved by combining vegetable and/or mineral oils with Cio-C24 acyl lactylates, zwitterionic and/or amphoteric surfactants and trimethylglycine.
O/W cleaning emulsions (so-called emulsion shampoos) obtainable in this way have the advantages of a mild shampoo with excellent care performance. They can be easily distributed in the hair and rinsed out.
Compared to existing market products, O/W cleansing emulsions according to the invention do not exhibit any built-up effect and show improved volume in dry hair.
Another advantage is that higher amounts of different care oils can be incorporated into the emulsions without the presence of sulphate surfactants being necessary (for example to optimize the foam volume).

It has been found that even small amounts of these specific acyl lactylates increase the stability of the emulsion shampoos according to the invention, even in the event that different oils of different polarity are used in the emulsion shampoos. In addition, as mild surfactants, acyl lactylates support the foaming properties of the emulsion shampoos according to the invention and increase their moisturizing and thus care properties.
These effects are particularly pronounced when using sodium stearoyl lactylate.

Alkyl (oligo)glycosides for the purposes of the present invention are compounds of the general formula RO-[G] X , where R is an alkyl or alkenyl radical having 6 to 24 carbon atoms, G is a sugar radical having 5 or 6 carbon atoms and x stands for numbers between 1 and 10. They can be obtained by relevant methods of preparative organic chemistry.
The preferred alkyl and alkenyl oligoglycosides are thus alkyl and alkenyl oligoglucosides.
The index number x in the general formula RO-[G] x indicates the degree of oligomerization (DP), ie the distribution of mono- and oligoglycosides, and represents a number between 1 and 10. While x in the individual molecule must always be an integer and can assume the values x=1 to 6 in particular, the value x for a specific alkyl oligoglycoside is an analytically determined arithmetic quantity which usually represents a fractional number. Als typische Beispiele für die kationischen Proteinhydrolysate und -derivate seien die unter den INCI - Bezeichnungen bekannten und im Handel erhältlichen Produkte genannt: Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Cocodimopnium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Casein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Silk Amino Acids, Hydroxypropyl Arginine Lauryl/Myristyl Ether HCl, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Gelatin, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Casein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Conchiolin Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed keratin, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein, Hydroxyproypltrimonium Hydrolyzed Silk, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein/Siloxysilicate, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein/Siloxysilicate, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Casein, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Casein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Steartrimonium Hydroxyethyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Quaternium-76 Hydrolyzed Collagen, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Collagen, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Keratin, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Silk, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein. Cationized protein hydrolyzates can also be used, the underlying protein hydrolyzate being from animals, for example from collagen, milk or keratin, from plants, for example from wheat, corn, rice, potatoes, soybeans or almonds, from marine life forms, for example from fish collagen or algae, or from biotechnologically obtained protein hydrolyzates. The protein hydrolyzates on which the cationic derivatives are based can be obtained from the corresponding proteins by chemical, in particular alkaline or acidic hydrolysis, by enzymatic hydrolysis and/or a combination of both types of hydrolysis. The hydrolysis of proteins usually results in a protein hydrolyzate with a molecular weight distribution of about 100 daltons up to several thousand daltons. Preference is given to those cationic protein hydrolyzates whose underlying protein fraction has a molecular weight of 100 to 25,000 daltons, preferably 250 to 5,000 daltons. Furthermore, quaternized amino acids and mixtures thereof are to be understood as cationic protein hydrolyzates. The quaternization of the protein hydrolysates or of the amino acids is frequently carried out using quaternary ammonium salts such as, for example, N,N-dimethyl-N-(n-alkyl)-N-(2-hydroxy-3-chloro-n-propyl)-ammonium halides. Furthermore, the cationic protein hydrolyzates can also be further derivatized. Typical examples of the cationic protein hydrolyzates and derivatives are the products known and commercially available under the INCI designations: Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Cocodimopnium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Casein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Hair Keratin, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin , Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Silk Amino Acids, Hydroxypropyl Arginine Lauryl/Myristyl Ether HCl, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Gelatin, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Casein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Conchiolin Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed keratin, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Silk, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein/Siloxysilicate, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein/Siloxysilicate, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Casein, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Lauryldimonium Hydroxypropyl, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Casein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Collagen, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Silk, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Steardimonium Hydroxyethyl Hydrolyzed Collagen -76 Hydrolyzed Collagen, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Collagen, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Keratin, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Silk, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Quaternium-79 Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein.
