Abstract
A method of closing a package or box is described, wherein the package or box is closed with a label constituted of gummed paper printed with water-based ink.
Description
LABEL OR TAPE FOR BOXES OR PACKAGES
The invention relates primarily to a label or tape for closing packages or boxes, and to the method of obtaining it.
The impulse that e-commerce has given to the shipments of parcels via mail or courier is well known. The convenience of buying in internet and receiving the goods at home without moving is unlikely to be a habit that people would willingly abandon.
The convenience of the service is not without its problems.
Very felt customers' and suppliers' needs are to avoid theft of packages during their travel by different means of transport, to be sure that the box or package will not be opened during "mistreatment" by couriers. It goes without saying that the box or package must not be easily opened and closed by ill-intentioned people, whose theft would be discovered only after delivery to the recipient.
The main object of the invention is to improve this state of the art by solving at least one of the aforementioned problems.
Another object is to propose an improved label to close a package or box.
A first aspect of the invention relates to a method of closing a package or box, wherein the package or box is closed with a label consisting of gummed paper printed with water-based ink.
Another aspect of the invention relates to a label or tape for closing a package or box, wherein the label or tape consists of gummed paper printed with water-based ink.
Another aspect of the invention relates to a method of printing or creating a label or tape, useful particularly for sealing a package or box, wherein water-based ink is printed over the gummed paper.
Another aspect of the invention relates to the use of a label or tape consisting of gummed paper printed with water-based ink to close a package or box.
In the following, some favorite variations for each aspect of the invention.
The step of closing a package or box means that the gummed paper is applied to the package or box to hold together already closed parts of the package or box (e.g. such as the flaps of a cardboard box); that is, the parts remain already closed in place and the gummed paper only secures them in place, and/or
to close parts of the package or box together (e.g. such as the flaps of a cardboard box); that is, the parts do not remain already closed in position and the gummed paper works to bring them and hold them in the closed position, and/or to seal a package or box that structurally already remains closed on its own. The seal can be an additional form of protection against the opening or the affixing of a distinctive sign printed on the paper.
If a package closed with the above-mentioned paper is tampered with, there is immediate evidence of fraud, e.g.
• the paper is not intact at the edges, and/or
• the print looks with smudged color and blurred lettering.
These conditions constitute immediate evidence of tampering. Indeed, the gummed paper printed this way assumes the role of a security tape.
Gummed paper has many advantages, including being a natural anti-fraud and recyclable, tamper-proof product. It also reinforces the package (e.g. cardboard) and is immune to changes in temperature, humidity and dust.
The aforementioned gummed paper can be made of kraft paper (paper or cardboard produced from chemical pulp by well-known Kraft process) or recycled paper, and vegetable glue. The glue is produced from potato starch or corn and/or cassava starch.
The gummed paper may also contain reinforcing threads, made either out of fiberglass or PE (polyethylene).
Other advantages of gummed paper are, in particular, that it is a low-cost printed paper, as it is possible to print on it, for example, the brand of a company, its address, various references, etc. In addition, the strength of gummed paper is remarkable, since it can hold weights of up to 80 kg without breaking and thus compromising the contents of the box.
Reinforced gummed paper has the "strengthened" function of a warranty seal and is particularly suitable for the security of luxury goods.
Gummed paper is not only not afraid of humidity or too low or too high temperatures, but is also not afraid of the weather, and the contents remain protected for up to 20 years.
As another structural or usage variation for gummed paper, gummed paper can be used to seal cardboard corners, edges, and/or uneven surfaces.
The paper can be produced in rolls, and then cut to create the desired size for the closure label or tape. For example, one can start with rolls that are 50 mm, 60 mm, 70
mm, or 80 mm wide.
For the water-based ink, it is preferable to choose it with the following values for best results:
Viscosity: 25 - 75 Zahn2;
PH 8.0 - 9.0;
Solid Content 30-60 %;
Dilution 05 -15 %.
