Abstract
In the present invention, disclosed is a method for producing low-viscosity dimer acid having a low content of aromatic dimer acid. The dimer acid production method provides a method for producing dimer acid, comprising the steps of: preparing fatty acid raw materials having a polyunsaturated fatty acid content of 25 wt% or less relative to 100 wt% of unsaturated fatty acids, by hydrolyzing and distilling vegetable oils selected from the group consisting of palm oil, palm kernel oil and PFAD (Palm Fatty Acid Distillate); synthesizing dimer acid by polymerizing the fatty acid raw materials; and isolating the dimer acid by distilling the reactant containing the synthesized dimer acid.
