Abstract

An image retargeting method and apparatus for increasing or reducing an image ratio are disclosed. The present embodiment provides an image retargeting method and apparatus for: increasing an image ratio by acquiring an image in which a line extracted from an energy map for an area, that excludes the area to be preserved in an input image, is inserted; or reducing the image ratio by acquiring a line deletion image extracted from an energy map for an area that excludes the area to be preserved in a correct answer image.
