Description

BREAST FEEDING APPARATUS
Technical Field
The invention relates to a breast feeding apparatus which improves the success of breast feeding process for users who experience problems or difficulties during breast feeding and increases the breast feeding ratio.
The invention specifically relates to a breast feeding apparatus for new mothers who recently start breast feeding and users who cannot perform breast feeding or experience difficulties due to problems such as nipple problems, inadequate milk production and alike and it enables an improvement of breast feeding to these users when feeding their babies as well as providing an increase in the breast feeding ratio.
State of the Art
It is widely accepted that using breast milk to feed newborn babies is one of the most important factors for mental and physical development of the babies. In terms of health of the babies and the mothers, World Health Organization advises that the newborn babies must be fed only breast milk for the period of first six months after birth and breast feeding needs to be continued for two years in order to provide breast milk to the child. Breast feeding can be divided into two periods as lactation and post - lactation and both periods provide various benefits both to the health of the mother and the baby. During the lactation period of breast feeding, positive effects such as a decrease in postpartum uterus bleedings in mother, an improvement of psychological state of the mother, a decrease in the risks of occurrence of cardiovascular diseases in the mother and an increase of psychological and emotional connection with the baby are seen. In the post lactation period, again regarding the mother, a decrease in the risk of breast and ovary cancer, occurrence of positive effects on osteoporosis, a decrease in the occurrence of rheumatismal diseases and type 2 diabetes and increased weight loss after birth are seen. In a similar manner, breast feeding has numerous positive effects on babies' health as well. Among these effects; an increased chance of living of the newborn, ensured natural growth and development, a decreased risk of occurrence of respiratory and gastrointestinal system diseases, a decreased occurrence of otitis media, a decreased occurrence of necrotising enterocolitis in preterm babies, a decreased occurrence of sudden infant death syndrome and a positive contribution to the psychological and emotional development of the baby can be mentioned. In addition, it is observed that babies who are breast - fed have a lower risk of developing diseases such as allergies, type 1 diabetes, cancer, multiple sclerosis and atherosclerosis in the following years.
Nonetheless, especially for mothers who recently start breastfeeding, negative cases such as not being able to breastfeed or experiencing difficulties in breastfeeding can occur due to nipple problems, insufficient milk amount, delaying or rejecting breastfeeding due to psychological or emotional reasons can occur or in special cases such as adoption etc. the production of milk can stop. In order to cope with these negative cases, various devices to help breastfeeding are developed in the current state of art.
In utility model document with number CN202179707U a feeding device which is developed as a solution to the problems mentioned above and which especially helps feeding sick babies is described. The said device comprises a breast feeding cap similar in structure to a nipple, a liquid material reservoir into which milk, formula and medication can be put and a transmission pipe which enables the liquid material being received from the said reservoir and transmitted to the breast feeding cap. Due to holes located on the tip of the breast feeding cap, the baby gains access to the formula or milk inside the liquid material reservoir by sucking the breast feeding cap. However, due to the fact that the said feeding device does not create a skin contact between mother and baby, a positive effect on the psychological and emotional states of the mother and baby cannot be achieved. Again, a contribution to the milk amount of the mother experiencing breast feeding difficulty cannot be provided because only formula, milk or medication which is put into the said reservoir is being used for the purpose of feeding the baby. In addition to that, the mother requires need from a second person during the breast feeding process due to the manner of usage of the device. This, in turn, limits the area and time of use of the said device. In patent document with number US6669064B2 in current art, a breast feeding apparatus which enables increasing the skin contact between mother and baby as well as enabling the baby being fed is described. The said breast feeding apparatus comprises a hanging member which is attached to shoulder in order for the user to perform the breast feeding process and a breast feeding fastener which is positioned on the hanging member in a manner to correspond to the breast level of the user. It is provided that the milk or formula which is put into the liquid reservoir inside the breast feeding fastener is transmitted through the holes located on tip of the breast feeding cap. By this way, the baby in mother's embrace can be fed in a manner similar to being fed from the breast. However, the said apparatus operates with a logic of feeding bottle and cannot provide a solution regarding increasing the milk amount or easing the milk production for mothers who experience difficulties in breast feeding due to various reasons.
As a consequence, there is a need of development for a breast feeding apparatus which increases the success of breast feeding and ratio of breast feeding for mothers who recently start breast feeding and cannot perform breast feeding or experience difficulties during breast feeding due to reasons such as nipple problems of insufficient milk production, improves the psychological and emotional connection between mother and baby and in addition increases the milk amount of the mother or eases the milk production.
Aim of the Invention
The present invention relates to a breast feeding apparatus which fulfills the needs mentioned above as well as eliminates the possible disadvantages and provides some additional advantages. The main aim of the breast feeding apparatus of the invention is to provide a breast feeding apparatus which provides a success in breast feeding process with the purpose of the baby being fed and an increase in the amount of milk produced by the mother.
Another aim of the invention is to provide a breast feeding apparatus which enables the mother to perform the breast feeding process without needing help from a second person. Another aim of the invention is to provide a breast feeding apparatus which enables a stronger connection between the mother and the baby by enabling both to be psychologically and physically relaxed and increase the amount of breast milk being released from the breast. Another aim of the invention is to provide an efficient, yielding and practical breast feeding apparatus which enables the an increased amount of feeding provided to the baby by enabling a supply of natural breast milk from the breast together with the formula.
Another aim of the invention is to enable completion of an easy breast feeding process for both of the mother and the baby by only using massage and / or heat and or music function, without using the breast feeding cap for mothers who are in normal breast feeding process.
In order to obtain the aims mentioned above in the most general terms, the breast feeding apparatus; which enables the performance of the breast feeding process, which is done for the purpose of the baby to be fed, by a user suitable for the breast feeding without needing any help and which increases the success of the breast feeding process as well as the amount of breast milk production; comprises at least one carrying member, which is wearable onto body, including at least one opening to perform the breast feeding process easily, at least one formula reservoir which has a suitable structure into which a liquid material of milk and / or formula can be put in order to feed the baby, at least one transmission member which enables the transmission of the liquid material in the formula reservoir, at least one breast feeding cap which covers the nipple of the breast of the user and is suitable to be located onto the nipple in a fixed manner by a vacuuming effect and has a form compatible with the physical form of the nipple for the purpose of feeding the baby in a similar manner to natural breast feeding process and at least one hole which enables the breast milk coming from the breast and / or the milk and / or formula transmitted from the transmission member to be sucked by the baby.
