L'invention concerne une paire d'écouteurs et un procédé de commande pour les écouteurs, comprenant : l'acquisition en temps réel ou à intervalles réguliers d'un signal audio de sortie, le signal audio de sortie comprenant un signal audio délivré en sortie par des haut-parleurs d'une paire d'écouteurs ; l'acquisition du niveau de pression sonore du signal audio de sortie ; lorsque la pression sonore dépasse une plage de niveaux de pression sonore confortable prédéfinie, le traitement, sur la base d'une amplitude cible correspondant à la plage de niveaux de pression sonore confortable, d'un signal audio devant être lu ; et la commande des haut-parleurs pour délivrer en sortie le signal audio traité devant être lu. La présente invention, lorsque le niveau de pression sonore du signal audio collecté dépasse la plage de niveaux de pression sonore prédéfinie, ajuste le signal audio à délivrer de sorte que le signal audio délivré en sortie tombe dans la plage de niveaux de pression sonore confortable, ce qui réduit ainsi les dommages auditifs causés par les écouteurs aux oreilles d'un utilisateur.
