本考案の『サイクルボトムガード』のガード板（１）は長時間の外力負荷や連続運動に耐えられるよう繊維強化プラスチックで作られており、繊維の素材としては、ガラス繊維、カーボン繊維、アルミナ繊維、チタン繊維などの無機繊維のほか、芳香族ポリアミド繊維、芳香族ポリエステル繊維、ポリオレフィン繊維などの有機繊維などを用いることが出来、プラスチック素材としては不飽和ポリエステル樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、フェノール樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂などの熱硬化型樹脂や熱可塑性樹脂を用いることが出来る。従来のクッション材等による衝撃吸収パットだけでは、サドルから伝わる外力や吸収しきれない負荷が一点集中的にパット越に人体に伝わることが多く、長時間走行時においてはその箇所に痛みが更に徐々に増してしまう。そこで『サイクルボトムガード』の主要部材は繊維強化プラスチックの硬質な層とゴムや発砲プラスチック、ウレタン等のクッション層（２）で重ね合わせて装着する。自転車の振動衝撃や運動負荷をガード板（１）の面全体に分散させ、更にクッション（２）で吸収させることが出来る。これにより、走行時に会陰部周辺の痛みを緩和させるのである。『サイクルボトムガード』の装着は主にパンツの中側に装着するタイプ（インナー）とパンツ外側に装着する（アウター）の二通りの方法がある。インナータイプは『サイクルボトムガード』を両足の太ももの付け根部分と腰周りに固定する専用バンド（３：長さ調整が可能な平ロープ等）で装着する方法がある。ガード板（１）は装着者の体格や好みに応じて会陰部のみをガードする幅の狭いタイプから、お尻を大きく包み込む幅の広いタイプまで選ぶことが可能としている。
