Description

Novelty In Relation to a Hair-dryer
Technical Field:
This invention refers to a novelty in blow dryers capable of both drying and blow-drying hair.
Our invention refers to a blow dryer which is capable of blow-drying by means of applying the hot and pressurized air to be applied on the dryer brush through the air outlet that is parallel to the lateral edge of the concentrator/diffuser of the blow dryer instead of through the air outlet located at the end of the blow dryer.
Prior Art and Technical Problems Encountered:
Blow dryers are electrical home appliances that are used for hair styling by blowing much hotter air in comparison to standard hair dryers. Blow dryers are capable of performing both normal drying and blow-drying processes.
Existing blow dryers consist of a simple motor fan, heating mechanism and a dryer brush on which the hair to be dried is placed. In these blow dryers, when the on/off button is pressed, a fan electrically connected to the electric motor draws in the air from the outside and it pushes the air from the center towards the sides. Said air moves toward the air outlet of the machine and outward over the spiral shaped and thin heating resistance located inside the machine where it is heated up and it exits through the air outlet located at the end of the blow dryer and is blown to the dryer brush located at the end of the air outlet.
On this device, the end of the blow dryer is used both for the purposes of drying and blow drying. Wet hair normally requires normal drying for a length of time until it is moist enough for blow drying. After drying the hair in a way that it is moist to a degree, the blow drying process will be applied. When hair drying and blow drying is applied from the end of the blow dryer, the air outlet will be in contact with the hot and pressurized air for a considerable length of time during drying and blow drying which will soon lead to deformities on these parts of the device. As these two processes take longer periods of time, the expected life of the blow dryer will also be shorter. Although the tips of blow dryers are produced from heat-resistant material, this cannot increase the expected lifecycle of the blow dryers considerably. Furthermore, production from heat-resistant material increases the production costs.
Also, the process of drying wet hair can be carried out with less pressurized air unlike blow-drying. Existing blow dryers are capable of both drying and blow drying with hot pressurized air whereas on these devices, the drying process causes excessive power consumption. It is possible to eliminate excessive power consumption by attaching a temperature adjustment apparatus; however, as both drying and blow drying processes have to be performed through the same air outlet channel, this requires a larger interior space inside the blow dryer. Not only does this increase the costs of production and workmanship, it also makes the blow dryer less user-friendly. For these reasons, most blow dryers are used merely for blow drying and an additional hair dryer is needed for drying hair.
While existing blow dryers style hair by heating the hair placed between the dryer brush and the blow dryer, the hair has to be kept a certain distance away from the end of the blow dryer. Otherwise, there is a possibility that the hair will burn. In blow dryers that blow hot air, the place where the heat is at the highest is the air outlet, through which the hot air leaves the device. The blow drying process is performed by placing slightly moist hair to be styled, on the dryer brush and then directly bringing it closer it to the end of blow dryer. However, users of the blow dryer may accidentally hold the dryer brush too close to this hot part which may cause the hair to burn due to heat. As the person who performs the blow-drying and the person on whom this process is performed on are two different people, hair is irreparably damaged before the person performing the blow-drying notices that the hair is burning.
In existing blow dryers, as the person performing the blow-drying has to hold the blow dryer vertically to the hair when the dryer brush is attached to the front, it can soon cause discomfort to the hands. The attachment of the dryer brush with hair placed on it to the end of blow dryer makes it even more difficult to perform the blow drying process.
Furthermore, as a result of the search conducted in this field we have encountered the prior art utility model application document numbered TR 2017/16507 which discloses a blow dryer configuration. This document refers to a configuration developed for the purpose of resolving the issue of noise coming from the motor when the blow dryer is being used. In this document, the solution for the noise issue is described as forming a separate closed compartment for the motor which does not invalidate the novelty step of our invention.
For home use, users require at least two devices for blow drying: a blow dryer and a dryer brush. However, as it is difficult to handle these two devices, blow-drying is generally performed in hair salons rather than at home. This causes significant loss of time and expense. And those who cannot do blow drying at home commonly use hair straighteners and similar tools which are easy to use but are harmful to hair. These types of devices can cause serious hair burn, breakages and damages.
Solutions to Technical Issues and Advantages Offered by our Invention:
As for the blow dryer that is the subject of our invention, unlike in the prior art wherein the hot and pressurized air is released through the air outlet on the end of the blow dryer, the air is released through the air outlet channel located on the lateral edge of the concentrator/diffuser of the blow dryer. This allows for blow-drying closer to the heater resistance without causing any damage to the hair and hot air can be applied to the hair placed on the dryer brush in a more effective and controlled way. As the users can hold the blow dryer more easily, this will cause less discomfort to the hand in comparison to existing blow dryers which will allow them to perform the blow drying process more comfortably. This will therefore allow the blow drying process to be performed with more care.
In our invention, the hot air outlet (180) can be closed and the blow drying can be performed through the air channel located in the lateral edge; and with the ability of 180 degree rotation, the air channel can be closed for blow drying and opened again for hair drying. This way, users can perform both the hair drying and blow drying process through the air channel on the lateral edge according to requirement.
Another advantage of our invention is that, instead of blow drying by point heating from a single outlet in existing blow dryers, a better quality blow drying process can be performed by applying hot air throughout the entire length of hair placed on the dryer brush. The problem of hot air not being distributed evenly to all parts of the hair as the air is received from a single point, namely a single air outlet that is therefore resolved. This saves both time and power consumption.
With our invention, the hot air can flow through different outlets located on the blow dryer during drying and blow drying processes, the parts through which the hot air passes are in contact with hot air for shorter periods of time which extends its expected life.
The blow dryer that is the subject of our invention provides an electronic mechanism that supplies less hot and less pressurized air for hair drying processes and hotter and more pressurized air for blow drying processes. Pressing once on the button starts the hair drying process, pressing twice on the button starts the blow drying process and a pressing for the third time turns off the blow dryer. By means of our invention, the users no longer have to use at least two devices for hair drying and blow drying. The invention also enables easy hair styling at home which eliminates the loss of time and expenses caused by the prior art and eliminates the necessity of using tools that pose serious risks to hair health.

Detailed Description of the Invention:
Our invention refers to a blow dryer which is capable of blow-drying by means of applying hot and pressurized air to be applied on the dryer brush through the air outlet that is parallel to the lateral edge of the drying/blow-drying diffuser of the blow dryer instead of through the air outlet located at the end of the blow dryer.
Our invention involves air intake through the air inlet grill (7) as the fan (3) connected to the motor (2) shaft starts rotating. The air that enters the device is heated when passing over the resistance (10) and it reaches a certain pressure. The air that reaches this level of heat and pressure exits through the diffuser (4). For the normal hair drying process, the air that reaches a certain heat and pressure exits through air outlet (12) to be applied on hair. When blow drying moist hair, hot and pressurized air exits through the air outlet channel (13) located on the lateral edge of the concentrator/diffuser (4) and is applied toward the dryer brush (5) which is located parallel or near-parallel to the air outlet channel (13) and on which the hair to be blow dried is placed.
Our invention features an electronic circuit (16) that supplies less hot and less pressurized air for hair drying processes and hotter and more pressurized air for blow drying processes. When the electronic circuit (16) is in blow drying position, it automatically increases power when the dryer brush handle is pulled after the hair is placed between the dryer brush and blow drying air outlet thereby completing the blow drying process. The electronic circuit (16) can also be adjusted for normal hair drying by pressing the hair drying button (14) and for blow drying moist hair by pressing the blow drying button (15) in order to adjust the temperature and pressure accordingly. The diffuser (4) that is the subject of invention is characterized in that it has an air outlet channel (13) on the lateral edge opposite the dryer brush on the side, and an air outlet (12) on the end for normal hair drying. Inside the concentrator diffuser (4) a drying/blow-drying switching apparatus (11) is provided. This switching apparatus (11) is semi- cylindrical and capable of 180 degree rotation around its own axis. When this switching apparatus rotates 180 degrees around itself, it opens the air outlet channel (13) located on the concentrator diffuser (49) and closes the air outlet (12); when it rotates 180 degree in the opposite direction, it closes the air outlet channel (13) and opens the air outlet (12).
In our invention, the dryer brush (5) is attached to the body (1) of the blow dryer parallel or near-parallel to the concentrator/diffuser (4) via the dryer brush handle (6).
