BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A cutter bar assembly of an agricultural harvesting machines includes an auger and reel assembly. The auger has a pick-up attachment that usually extends the full width and is provided with oppositely wound auger flights for collecting the harvested crop plant from reel and consolidating the crop material in the central region of the auger from where the crop is conveyed towards a processing means such as trashing unit. The augur may have plurality of retractable cups like attachment spread across the auger surface for assisting the transfer of crop material from the pick-up device to the crop processing machine or to storage.
Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of a prior art cutter bar assembly (10). The cutter bar assembly (10) has an auger assembly (12) and a reel assembly (14). The auger assembly (12) has a pick-up attachment (16) and a plurality of retractable cups like attachment (18) evenly spread across the auger (12) surface. Figure 2 illustrates an isometric view of a prior art retractable cups like attachment (18). As illustrated, the retractable cups like attachment (18) has a base plate (20), a cup shaped plate (22) resiliently hinged to the base plate (20) through a resilient member (24) such as a torsion spring. Due to multiple parts, the retractable cups like attachment (18) are prone to damage. Multiple parts in known retractable cups like attachment (18) design results in increase in weight and complexity. During operation, the breakage in the known retractable cups like attachment (18) may lead to serious damages to the machine and may increase the down time of a machine. Hence there is a requirement for an improved an auger attachment for the cutter bar assembly of a crop harvester.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION According to an embodiment of the invention, an auger assembly of a harvester is disclosed. The disclosed auger assembly includes a plurality of guide bracket attachment spread across the auger assembly surface. The guide bracket attachment has a first curve surface and a second curve surface such that the first and second curved surface defines a substantially“S” shaped body.
