Abstract

A method for encoding a video sequence into a bitstream using motion refinement video coding tools for bi-prediction, wherein the method comprises determining whether a plurality of slices pertaining to one or more pictures comprises at least one slice that allows inter bi-prediction,and inserting information related to the motion refinement video coding tools for bi-predictioninto the bitstream in case at least one condition is satisfied, wherein the at least one condition comprises the presence of at least one slice of the plurality of slices that allows inter bi-prediction.
