Description

TITLE
Security system allowing electricity power transfer from a fixed panel to a mobile platform composed of a hose cuff set in a coaxial cable and /or of power (variable voltage) and/or mass, that is inserted through an interlocking system of a mechanic junction finalized to the prevention of accidents deriving from the accidental detachment of the supporting cable
DESCRIPTION
The present invention has as its object a mechanical joint which, combined with a cuff, allows the cables used for electric power transfer to be joined to a pre-existing support.
The invention is designed to be used in platforms and shipyards. In particular, in such places, in order to allow the operators to carry out their welding and carpentry tasks, it is necessary to transfer the electric power from the pre-existing fixed panel to the place of intervention. The connections known so far have the disadvantage of not allowing a strong and efficient anchoring and, in case of accidental movement of the joint, they do not guarantee a constant flow of energy, necessary to carry out complete welds. In addition, the connectors on the market, precisely because of the system used, only allow the use of ground wires and therefore very bulky.
Often during welding operations, the technician has to overcome the problem of accidental unhooking of the cuff, either due to the method of attachment to the mobile platform, or due to the obstruction of the voluminous cable used, by means of approximate mechanisms and with fallback devices that do not guarantee safety at work and in the yard (even from vibrations).
The junctions on the market cause accidents, unhooking with particular ease, having in use simple- beating interlocking systems. These systems are in fact constrained by the weight and size of the ground wire connected by means of a hose cuff, which makes it not easy - if not impossible - to rotate and interlock with any joint.
The invention overcomes this inconvenience by applying a bayonet coupling system with semi- rotation combined with a lock and release by means of safety snap buttons equipped with harmonic spring that allow to join coaxial cables used for electric power transfer to the support.
In an advantageous situation, this system prevents accidental detachment of the power cable from the supports or other cable trunks. In fact, the release takes place after manual and voluntary operation by the operator who, pressing simultaneously the two keys, must rotate the sleeve for its complete disconnection. The system also allows the transfer by means of coaxial cables which by their nature are much more manageable than those used until now.
In particular, the invention makes it possible to connect the sleeve to the mechanical joint installed on the support by means of a rotating ring nut in the blocking direction marked by the word‘close’ on the cuff. Once the two pieces are engaged, the security of the power transfer is guaranteed as well as the impossibility of the closing mechanism accidentally detaching.
Precisely, once the two pieces have been engaged, in order to separate them again, it is necessary to press the two buttons equipped with harmonic spring on the sleeve. The locking mechanism illustrated in this way, once engaged, does not allow the connector to turn in the ring nut to be extracted, except through the voluntary intervention of the technician who must press the keys and simultaneously turn in the direction of release (open).
The invention will now be explained with reference to the attached drawings, which show its details in the form of assembled item and also in the individual form of each component.
Table 1 (with A-B-C-D figures) shows the components of the invention.
The lateral projection of the entire assembled sleeve is represented in figure B.
The axonometric figure D shows the sleeve and the mechanical joint before engagement. In the same figure it is shown the coupling mechanism by means of rotation of the ring nut that engages in the joint.
Table 2 shows the two-dimensional sections of the sleeve.
In figure E, detail 2, the teeth of the button and the snap-on harmonic springs that allow the sleeve to be locked are highlighted.
In section F, it is shown the locking mechanism as engaged when the operator inserts the sleeve into the mechanical joint. From the same figure, it is possible to understand the mechanism of engagement of the invention and in particular how, rotating the ring nut in the indicated locking direction (close), it is engaged, by means of the double bayonet system and snap teeth of the keys, to the joint.
In figure E, table 2, component 5 is represented, which acts as a button and overhangs a harmonic spring, technically giving the sleeve the possibility to disengage only by voluntary intervention of the mechanical joint.
Figure E, position 7, shows how the system allows all its components and the pre-existing support to be locked and held firmly together, guaranteeing greater efficiency of power transfer during the welding use phase.
The aforesaid section E must also be compared with that of table 4 in order to understand the operating mechanism of the locking system, and in particular how, by fixing the central body of the connector, in which the cable is housed, in position 1 and engaging it in position 2 with locking effect, the screw named VI (figure E table 2) enters position 7 until it reaches the body in position 1 previously named (table 4 ) determining the lock.
In figure E it is also visible the snap button that allows, thanks to the spring that presses it, to hold the position 3 together with the position 7, definitively locking the piece in the anti-blocking position (close) and guaranteeing ergonomics to the grip and safety in the unlocking engagement phase, by inserting the position 1 in the position 2 that in its internal diaphysis has a stop, definitively locking the components.
In figure M, in detail 4 of table 3, it is shown how the mechanical joint that makes up the security system can be quickly mounted, by means of a threaded screw system, on control panels already on the market, on pre-existing welding generators as well as on possible mobile supports for different industrial sectors, in particular the naval one, thus allowing the rapid installation of the security system.
