Description
A Sliding Feeder and Broiler Cage with Plastic Base
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to broiler cages used in broiler breeding cages.
The present disclosure, in particular, relates to a broiler cage configuration where a plastic base, which is suitable for quality poultry production, and a sliding feeding system, which reduces the feed waste by preventing spilling of feed from poultry feeders, are brought together.
State of the Art
Poultry farming is one of the most heavily emphasized livestock industries against the food security problem of the world's rapidly growing population, which allows supplying valuable and cheap animal food with perspective of suitable for industrial production, high feed conversion rates and rapid production cycles.
The increase in production in the poultry sector is closely related to qualitative (improvement in performance) and quantitative (increase in number and capacity of enterprises) developments. Improvement in performance both in egg poultry and broiler breeding is a result of implementation of appropriate care-feeding health protection programs, developments in feed and feed technology and becoming widespread of yield-enhancing biotechnological products (feed additives), in addition to use of high-efficiency lines.
Today, spiral feeding model is used as the current feeding system in broiler cages. In the spiral feeding model, feed is filled into a plastic feed bowl attached to a feed pipe, by rotating the spiral spring inside the feed pipe. This system is mounted inside cage compartments. In other words, both the pipe-spring system and the feed bowls are located inside the cage compartment. In spiral feeding systems, broiler chicks and pullets in cage compartments may enter the dish parts of the feed bowls and cause the feed inside the bowl to spill outside the bowl.
The poultry production costs are increased since spilled feed increases the amount of feed consumed per produced broiler. In addition, chicks and pullets that enter into the feed bowl may defecate into the bowl and therefore, in terms of health concerns, they contaminate the feed they are consuming.
In order to produce quality broilers in broiler cages, cage compartment floors must be made of plastic, as it is in the current state of the production. The plastic base prevents breast meat marks in broiler production. When cage compartment floors are manufactured using centre wire mesh, the wires leave marks on the breast meat of the broilers. In addition, frequent sole burns are encountered in broilers. Wire floors are difficult to remove from the cage base. However, the plastic floors are placed on a sliding rail and can be removed by simply being pulled out by hand. Easy removal of the base provides great convenience in cleaning of the cages.

Detailed Description Of The Invention
In this detailed description, the sliding feeder and the broiler cage with plastic base which subject matter of the invention and its preferred embodiments are only given for a better understanding of the subject with no limiting effect.
The invention is a broiler cage configuration where a plastic base, which is suitable for quality poultry production, and a sliding feeding system, which reduces the feed
waste by preventing spilling of feed from feeders, are brought together, wherein, in a preferred embodiment comprises;
• a slide arm (2) which allows the slide to move back and forth on the mesh curtain inside the feeding channel,
• a feed bucket (3), which allows the feed to be distributed to feed channels, which are located on the side of the cage, along the cage,
• a feed hanger (4), which is the apparatus that carries the feed channels,
• a bottom weft (5) which connects the cage framework poles from their lower portions,
• a pole (6), which is the main column carrying all the components of the cage framework,
• a sheet metal slide (7) which is the mechanism that opens and closes the holes through which chicks put their heads, on the feeder sheet metal curtain located on the side of the cage,
• a cover (8) which has a sliding and spring operated opening structure located in front of the cage compartments in order to allow access into the compartments,
• a sheet metal mesh curtain (9) which is a mesh sheet metal component mounted on the cage side of the feeder in order to allow the chicks to put their heads out and feed,
• A feeder (10) which is a sheet metal component carrying the feed that is to be consumed by chicks and broilers, which is filled with feed by the moving feed bucket and mounted on the lateral sides of the cage,
• a rear drum (1 1 ) which is the mechanism for turning polypropylene band carrying the excrements of broilers in the cage and thus throwing the excrement from the coop to the outside environment,
• dividing wire (12) which is the wire component that separates the cage compartments each other located on the right and the left sides of the cage,
• a plastic base (13) which is the plastic component with holes on which the broiler chicks can stand from the 1 st day to the day of slaughter,
• a feed cart (14) which is the mechanical component that enables the movement of the feed buckets that carry the feed to the feeders located on the side surfaces of the cage,
• an apron (15) which is the sheet metal component introduced between the cage feeding system and the plastic base in order to prevent the feet of the chicks to get trapped,
• a base rail (16) which is the sheet metal component or the plastic component or the wire component over which the plastic bases are drawn and which carries the plastic bases.
The invention is designed by using the base plastic and sliding feed system together in the cage broiler breeding.
Figure 1 shows the sliding feeder and the broiler cage with a plastic base (1 ). In the established cage system, the cage framework is set up by compounding the poles (6) with the bottom wefts (5). In the cage framework, right and left compartments are separated from each other by attaching the dividing wires (12) to the wire rods which are drawn into the holes in the bottom wefts. In addition, the covers (8), which are mounted to the wire rods drawn from the holes on the poles (6), allows access into the cage compartments. The covers (8) are capable of moving on the wire rods.
The excrement of broilers is shed onto the polypropylene fertilizer band, located below the plastic base (13) through the holes of the base plastic. The polypropylene fertilizer band is turned by the rear drum (11 ) driven by an electric gearmotor in order to carry the excrement out of the coop.
The feeder hangers (4), which are illustrated in detail in Figure 3, are mounted on the cage poles in order to ensure the feeder arrangement to be fixed on the side of the cage. The feeders (10) that are attached to the feeder hangers are feeding chambers for the broilers. Feed is kept inside. Sheet metal mesh curtains (9) are
mounted on the cage pole side of the feeders. The chicks put their head through the holes of the sheet metal mesh curtain to reach the feed during their first 15 days. When broilers reach a certain size (around 15 days), sheet metal slides (7), a detailed view of which is given in Figure 2, which is mounted on the sheet metal mesh curtain (9), are drawn to the front of the sheet metal mesh curtain, by means of the slide arm (2), a detailed view of which is given in Figure 4. Therefore, the holes of the sheet metal mesh curtain is closed and broilers are able to feed by putting their heads through a gap between the top of the sheet metal slide and the cover wire rods. It is impossible for the broilers to reach the feeders with their entire bodies. Therefore, spilling feed from the feeders is prevented. Thus, more meat can be produced with less feed.
In the cage system, the feed inside the feed bucket (3) is distributed to the feeders as a result of driving the feed cart (14) to which the feed bucket is attached, by electric gearmotor. Inside the cage compartments, the base rail (16) and the apron (15), which are shown in Figure 5 in detail, and which are attached to the feeders, prevent the chick feet being trapped between the feeder and the plastic base. Aprons (15) also fix the reaching distance of the broilers to the feeders.
The base rail (16) gives a solid structure to the framework of the cage in addition to carrying the base plastic (13). The base plastics placed on the base rail can be removed by pulling them from under the feeder. Thus, it becomes easy to clean the cage after slaughtering the broilers. Due to its flexible structure, plastic base (13) prevents meat defects that negatively affect meat quality of broilers such as foot burns, chest burns and breast meat marks.
In the embodiment of the said invention, the broiler cage feeding system is a sliding feeding model which is mounted on the side surfaces of the cage framework. In this feeing system, chicks form 1 day to 15 days old are able to reach the feed by putting their heads through holes of 3 cm * 3.5 cm dimensions on the side of the feeder. During this time, the slide, on the side surface of the feeder is above the hole compartments. After the 15th day, the feeding of the chicks reaching the sufficient size is made from the gap left between the side surface of the feeder which is mounted on the cage framework and the front cover slide wire. In this process, using the slide arm on the edge of the feeder, the holes
with dimensions of 3 cm * 3.5 cm located on the side surface of the feeder is closed by slide. Now chicks can feed from the side surface of the feeder. Sliding type feeder mounted on the side surfaces of the cage and the removable plastic base are used together. The removable plastic base increases the quality of the white meat produced, while the sliding feeder model reduces the amount of feed that broilers consume per kg of meat.
