Abstract

The invention is related to a system and application thereof where cover plates that are to be placed on the ground can be laid quickly and rapidly using a very low number of workers and low manpower in the cases where (military action, military landing, in cases of natural disasters, or where it is impossible to lay asphalt due to economic reasons or if there is not enough time to carry out asphalt paving) the land conditions are desired to be made suitable to the vehicle motion following the formation of holes and landslips etc. on roads.

Description

MODULAR ROAD CARTRIDGE SYSTEM AND APPLICATION
METHOD THEREOF
Technical Field The invention is related to a system and application thereof which comprises using cover plates to cover holes and landslips etc, on existing roads or to build completely new roads by placing said plates which be laid on the ground, quickly and rapidly using a very low number of workers and low manpower in the cases where (military action, military landing, in cases of natural disasters, or where it is impossible to lay asphalt due to economic reasons or if there is not enough time to carry out asphalt paving) the land conditions are desired to be made suitable to the vehicle motion.
The invention is particularly related to a system and application method which enables plates to be rapidly laid down on the ground by means of the plates which are connected to each other and a cartridge in which the said connected plates have been placed.
Prior Art
In the prior art cover plates enabling traffic flow by temporarily covering holes or cavities that are formed on roads in cases of hole formation or landslips that occur on roads.
Similarly also in the military field, such plates are used when the land conditions are desired to be made suitable to the vehicle motion in cases of military action, military landing, in cases of natural disasters, or where it is impossible to lay asphalt due to economic reasons or if there is not enough time to carry out asphalt paving. As such plates are large in size and are quite heavy, the alignment of these plates side by side are carried out by means of heavy duty vehicles and this takes a lot of time. As the plates are placed one at a time onto the ground in said cover plate systems, loss of time and energy cannot be prevented. Although the road covering or plate systems are serially connected to each other as the coupling elements are located on the plate, any damage received on the plates can also damage the coupling elements.
Any kind of application relating to the serial and rapid laying down of such plates is not present. Only applications regarding the connection or coupling of the plates to each other have been ascertained in the art.
In the United States Patent document numbered US20020092100 of the known state of the art, a temporary guard plate is described which comprises a series of cover elements made of prefabricated or mass metal construction, a coupling element having a male end and a grooved female end in order to couple the similar cover elements during mounting is mentioned. The alignment of the covers one by one is described in the invention.
In the English Patent document numbered GB2321486 of the known state of the art, it has been mentioned that a coupling can be formed between the adjacent covers along the end lines of the opposite ends of the cover used to cover trenches, preferably between the articulated covers by means of a partially circular tongue.
In the United States Patent document numbered US2005072094 of the known state of the art a constructional panel having a generally rectangular central section and two opposed end sections, each having an isosceles trapezoid part, its short edge conjoined to an edge of the central section and its long edge conjoined to a rectangular part is mentioned. In the United States Patent document numbered US2005072094 of the known state of the art an invention which comprises plates or slats that can be connected to each other having connection means that enable to control the collection and opening of a series of slats in order for them to be rapidly assembled, stored or delivered is described.
When the systems present in the prior art are examined, it can be seen that placing the plates of the prior art over holes on the road one by one, creates loss of time and manpower. Due to this reason a system and application method has been required to be developed that can be laid on the ground rapidly to cover holes, trenches etc. that may occur on the road.
Brief Description of the Invention and its Aims
The aim of the invention is to provide a system and application thereof where cover plates that are to be placed on the ground can be laid quickly and rapidly using a very low number of workers and low manpower in the cases where (military action, military landing, in cases of natural disasters, or where it is impossible to lay asphalt due to economic reasons or if there is not enough time to carry out asphalt paving etc.) the land conditions are desired to be made suitable to the vehicle motion following the formation of holes and landslips etc. on roads.
In the system subject to the invention the cover plates are coupled to each other by means of resilient coupling elements. The plates which are thus coupled to each other are aligned inside the cartridge. The plates are delivered to the area where the application is to be carried out together with the cartridge by means of a vehicle, preferably a truck or lorry. After the rear lid of the cartridge is opened the first plate is lowered to the ground and mounted onto the ground. This mounting procedure can be carried out by means of a pole in order to fix the plate onto the ground or it can be carried out by a different method. As all plates are coupled to each other, after the first plate is mounted, the vehicle is moved forwards slowly and the plates are lowered one after the other onto the ground by means of this motion and said plates are aligned side by side.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The modular road cartridge system and application method thereof carried out in order to reach the aims of the invention has been illustrated in the figures.
Figure 1: Top view of the plate of the system subject to the invention.
Figure 2: The view of the plates of the system subject to the invention such that they are coupled to each other.
Figure 3: The view of the plates of the system subject to the invention such that they are disposed inside the cartridge.
Figure 4: The view of the plates of the system subject to the invention when they are being laid on the application area.
Figure 5: The view of the plates and the cartridge of the system subject to the invention located on the vehicle shown during the laying down procedure. The parts in the figures have each been numbered and their references have been listed below.
1. Plate,
2. Connection hole,
3. Coupling element,
4. Fixing element
5. Cartridge,
The invention is a modular road cartridge system application method comprising the steps of; - Coupling the plates (1) from their ends using a coupling element (3),
- Aligning, the plates (1) that have been connected to each other, side by side inside the cartridge (5).
- Loading the cartridge (5) containing the plates (1) therein, onto a vehicle,
- Lowering down the first plate (1) to the area to be covered by opening the lid of the cartridge (5) when the area that is to be covered is reached,
- Fixing the first plate (1) first of all onto the area to be covered,
- Following this the automatically laying down of the coupled plates (1) over the area that is to be covered rapidly by moving the vehicle forward.
In the application method subject to the invention first of all connection holes (2) are opened onto the plates (1) in order for other plates (1) to be able to be coupled thereon. The end sections of the coupling element (3) are inserted into the connection holes (2) that have been opened and the coupling element (3) is fixed onto the plate (1) by means of the fixing element (4).
The coupled plates (1) can be aligned onto thin sections side by side by means of the resilient coupling provided by the coupling element (3). Following this the plates (1) that have been connected to each other, are aligned inside the cartridge (5). The cartridge (5) containing the plates (1) are loaded onto a vehicle.
In an alternative embodiment of the invention the plates (1) can be placed directly into the rear end of the vehicle by ensuring that the rear section (for example truck bed) of the vehicle is configured like a cartridge (5) without having the need to dispose said plates into the cartridge (5). Alternatively, the cartridge (5) can primarily be fixed to the rear end of the vehicle and it can be ensured that the plates (1) are directly aligned at the rear section of the vehicle.
When the area to be covered or the area or the area on which the application is to be carried out is reached the lid of the cartridge (5) is opened and the first plate (1) is lowered over the hole to be covered. The first plate (1) is fixed to the initial section of the hole. This fixing procedure can be carried out by means of a pole coupled to the plate (1) and it is also possible to fix the plate with different fixing means. As the plates (1) are heavy they may not need to be fixed onto the ground. When the vehicle is moved forward, the coupled plates (1) can be laid over the hole rapidly.
