L'invention concerne un système et un processus pour produire un produit torréfié à partir de biomasse, le système comprenant un broyeur de biomasse pour réduire la taille de la charge de biomasse; une chambre d'alimentation pour recevoir la biomasse; un transporteur relié à la chambre d'alimentation; conçu pour introduire la biomasse dans la chambre; un système de chauffage conçu pour chauffer la biomasse avec un gaz inerte à l'intérieur de la chambre; un réacteur à tambour rotatif pour conduire la torréfaction; un cyclone pour la libération de gaz et séparer un gaz inerte de la biomasse; un conduit de recirculation pour rediriger le gaz inerte vers le système de chauffage comprenant une soufflante; un analyseur de gaz pour les gaz de production libérés du processus de combustion pendant le chauffage; un transporteur à vis double enveloppe refroidi à l'eau avec un liant d'injection; et un granulateur pour produit torréfié.
