Abstract
A method by which a decoding apparatus performs image decoding, according to the present document, comprises the steps of: acquiring, from a bitstream, prediction mode information about a current block and information related to a block vector difference; deriving a prediction mode of the current block as an intra block copy (IBC) prediction mode on the basis of the prediction mode information; deriving a block vector difference of the current block on the basis of the information related to the block vector difference; deriving a block vector of the current block on the basis of the block vector difference; and generating prediction samples of the current block on the basis of restoration samples in a current picture indicated by the block vector, wherein the information related to the block vector difference includes a syntax element about whether the absolute value of the block vector difference is greater than 0 and a syntax element about the sign of the block vector difference.
