Abstract

A robotic device includes a user interface, one or more sensors, a processor, and a non¬ transitory computer readable medium. The robotic device is configured to receive, via the user interface, a selection of a mode corresponding to a viitual boundary. The virtual boundary may delineate an avoid area to be avoided by the robotic device during navigation in the environment. The robotic device is also configured to identify at least one detectable boundary in the environment for defining the virtual boundary, and define the virtual boundary relative to the at least one detectable boundary based on the mode. The robotic device may move in the environment without crossing the virtual boundary to enter the avoid area.
