Definitions

  • the present invention is in general related to an apparatus for carrying and transporting infants and small children. More particularly, the present invention relates to a baby carrier of a type which is adapted to be worn by an adult and serve to support a baby or an infant in a variety of carrying positions both on the front of the wearer and the back of the wearer.
  • Wearable infant carriers enable the baby or infant and parent to be near each other, whereby the baby or infant may feel the parent’s warmth, closeness and smell, and the baby or infant will also be“involved” or present in the parent’s duties and get impressions in a completely different way than if the infant were sitting in a stroller or the like. Moreover, the parent does not have to carry the baby or infant in her/his arms thereby maintaining freedom of hand and arm movement in order to be able to perform other activities.
  • US 5.224.637 A relates to an infant carrier adapted to be worn about the waist of an adult for supporting and transporting an infant on the hip region of the wearer.
  • such carrier comprises a fabric belt and an integral fabric seat portion which is adapted to receive and support an infant who is positioned facing the adult wearer with legs straddling the wearer's waist.
  • the integral seat portion is defined by a section of the belt, a loop of fabric extending away from and back to the belt section at spaced locations, and a pair of spaced gussets, positioned one above the other and connecting the belt section and the loop portion.
  • a compressible member such as polyurethane, foam rubber, or a bladder of air, is disposed in the volume defined by the aforementioned seat-defining members.
  • EP 2.967.231 A1 relates to a child carrier having a waist belt, an upper torso support, a hammock coupled to the waist belt and to the upper torso support, and a thigh support strap extending to each side of the hammock.
  • Each thigh support strap has an inward end portion proximate to the hammock and an outward end portion configured for selective coupling to the upper torso support in multiple positions.
  • the hammock and the thigh support straps form a seat to support a child in an ergonomic spread- squat position in inward and outward facing orientations.
  • the shape of the seat adjusts depending on the positions in which the outward end portions of the thigh support straps are coupled to the upper torso support.
