Description
AN OVEN COMPRISING A HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE RAIL
The present invention relates to an oven that comprises a telescopic rail whereon the tray is placed.
In ovens, the trays, whereon the foods are placed, are supported by various methods inside the oven cavity. For example, the trays, that are supported by support units having guides, mounted to the side walls of the oven cavity and positioned at cooking levels predetermined by the producer, are known in the technique. Before starting the cooking process the user places the tray onto the guide suitable for the foodstuff therein and then starts the cooking process. However, the foodstuffs at the upper side of the tray may sometimes be cooked less or more compared to those at the lower side or the user may place the tray on the wrong guide by oversight. In such cases the tray should be placed to the guide at a different level while the cooking process continues. In this case the user must hold the hot tray during the cooking process and remove the same from the current guide and replace to a more suitable guide for the cooking process. This causes the user to put an effort or to burn his/her hand due to contact with the hot tray. In order to overcome this problem the use of rails with adjustable heights whereon the tray is placed is known in the state of the art ovens. However, said state of the art rails have very complex movement mechanisms and this causes said mechanisms to be high cost and to jam.
In the state of the art German Patent Document No. DE202014106052, a device is disclosed, which is disposed on the side walls of the cooking cavity and which moves the rails in the vertical direction whereon the tray is placed, thus providing the adjustment of the rails and hence of the tray.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of an oven wherein the height of the rails in the cooking cavity can be changed before the cooking process or
during the cooking process, thus allowing the realization of the cooking process at the suitable height.
The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof and comprising rails of which the height in the cooking cavity can be adjusted, comprises two connection plates which are oppositely placed onto the side walls of the cooking cavity; at least one housing which is provided on each of the connection plate; at least one carrier of which the opposite ends are inserted into the housings provided on the opposite connection plates; at least two rails which are placed onto the carrier and which can support a tray thereon; at least one fixing element which is disposed onto each connection plate so as to surround the housing and which is configured to keep the carrier in a predetermined first position and to keep the end of the carrier in the housing so as to allow the carrier to make rotational movement around the axis of the housing such that the carrier move from said first position to at least one predetermined secondary position when a force applied onto the carrier, and at least one holder which is disposed on each connection plate and which keeps the carrier in said secondary position. In the oven of the present invention, when the height of the rail, thus of the tray containing the foodstuffs to be cooked or foodstuffs already cooked is desired to be changed before or after the cooking process or during the cooking process, a force is applied onto the carrier and the carrier is enabled to make rotational movement around the axis of the housing to shift from the first position to at least one secondary position and/or from at least one secondary position to the first position. The first position of the carrier corresponds to a first rail position wherein the rail, hence the tray is at a predetermined level in the cooking cavity and the secondary position of the carrier corresponds to a secondary rail position wherein the rail, hence the tray is at a different level than the first rail position in the cooking cavity.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing element provided on each connection plate comprises a channel which maintains at least one part of the
carrier when the carrier is kept in the first position. By means of said channel, the carrier is enabled to be kept at the first position, hence at the first rail position wherein the rail is at a predetermined level in the cooking cavity.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing element comprises at least one slit which is provided on the surface thereof facing the holder and which joins with the channel provided in the fixing element. In this embodiment, as a force is applied on the carrier which is in the first position wherein a part thereof is maintained in the channel, the former starts to make rotational movement around the axis of the housing and at least one section of the part of the carrier in the channel makes rotational movement to be positioned in the slit. Thus, the carrier is enabled to be brought from the first position to the secondary position. Moreover, the walls limiting said slit allow the carrier to move in the slit for a predetermined amount and this allows the carrier to be rotated around the axis of the housing up to a predetermined angle.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing element further comprises at least one intermediate wall which extends on the surface where the channel and the slit join. Said intermediate wall stretches when a force is applied thereon. By means of the intermediate wall, when no force is applied on the carrier which is in the first position wherein a part thereof is maintained in the channel or no force is applied at a level sufficient to stretch the intermediate wall, the part of the carrier in the channel cannot pass over the intermediate wall to leave the channel, thus the carrier is prevented from making uncontrolled rotational movements around the axis of the housing. By applying a force which is at least sufficient to stretch the intermediate wall onto the carrier when the carrier is desired to be brought from the first position to a secondary position to change the level of the rail in the cooking cavity, the intermediate wall is enabled to stretch and with this stretching, the part of the carrier which is maintained in the channel is enabled to move through the opening from the channel towards the slit such that the carrier makes rotational movement around the axis of the housing.
In an embodiment of the present invention, each connection plate comprises two holders one of which is positioned higher than the fixing element and the other lower than the fixing element. In this embodiment, the rail can be positioned in the cooking cavity at three different levels which is a middle position wherein the carrier is the first position wherein the latter is held by the fixing element, a high position wherein the carrier is kept in a secondary position by the holder which is located above the fixing element, in other words close to the top wall defining the cooking cavity, and a low position wherein the carrier is kept in a secondary position by the holder, which is located below the fixing element, in other words close to the bottom wall defining the cooking cavity.
In an embodiment of the present invention each rail comprises at least one connection element which grasps at least one part of the carrier so as to allow fixing onto the carrier. Said connection element grasps the carrier so as to allow the carrier to make rotational movement therein around its axis. Thus, even if the carrier makes rotational movement around the axis of the housing, the rail does not make any rotational movement and always extends almost parallel to the top wall and the bottom wall which define the cooking cavity. Thus, the rail supporting the tray is prevented from making rotational movement and the foodstuffs in the tray are prevented from falling off while the carrier is rotated around the axis of the carrier to adjust the level of the rail in the cooking cavity, and moreover even if the tray is on the rail, the level of the rail in the cooking cavity can be changed.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the holder is a flexible clip which grasps at least one part of the carrier to keep the carrier fixed in at least one secondary position. In this embodiment, when the carrier is rotated around the axis of the housing to be brought from the first position to a secondary position, a force is applied on the carrier to enable the latter to apply pressure onto the clip and thus, the clip is enabled to stretch allowing a part of the carrier to enter the clip. When the pressure being applied onto the clip is interrupted, the clip returns
to the initial position thanks to its flexible structure and firmly grasps the part of the carrier entering therein and safely keeps the carrier fixed in said secondary position.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier is in the form of a tube, in other words has a round cross-section, and comprises two first extensions of which one end each enters one housing provided on the connection plates, a second extension which extends between the ends of the first extensions, which do not enter the housings, parallel to the first extensions such that a distance remains between the second extension and the first extensions, and two third extensions which join the second extension and the ends of the first extensions which do not enter the housings. In an embodiment of the present invention, the third extensions make an angle of almost 90 degrees with the first extensions and the second extension. In this embodiment of the present invention, in order to bring the carrier from the first position to at least one secondary position by making rotational movement around the axis of the housing, the first extensions are inserted into the housings on the connection plates from the ends thereof not connected to the third extension such that at least part thereof remains in the housing and are kept in said housings by means of the fixing element. When the carrier is in the first position, at least one part of the third extensions is maintained in the channel provided in the fixing element. Thus, as long as a force is applied onto the carrier so as to stretch the intermediate wall extending on the surface where the channel and the slit intersect, the parts of the third extensions in the channel cannot leave the channel and thus the carrier is prevented from making rotational movement around the axis of the housing in an uncontrolled manner. The fixing element which enables the rail to be fixed onto the carrier is connected onto the second extension, and in the preferred embodiment of the present invention the fixing element is connected onto the second extension at a point close to the juncture where the second extension and the third extension join. Moreover, the second extension supports the tray placed onto the rail from below,
thus serving as an extra support for the tray. When the carrier is desired to be moved from the first position to a secondary position in order to the change the level of the rail in the cooking cavity, a force is applied onto the carrier. When the force reaches a level which allows the part of the third extension maintained in the channel to stretch the intermediate wall, the intermediate wall stretches and allows at least one section of the relevant part of the third extension maintained in the channel to move towards the slit and thus enabling the carrier to make rotational movement around the axis of the housing. As the force is continued to be applied onto the carrier, the third extension continues moving and at least one part of the third extension contacts the walls limiting the slit and in this case the rotational movement of the carrier around the axis of the housing ends. Then, at least one part of the third extension is grasped by the holder, thus enabling the carrier to be kept in the relevant secondary position. Thus, with the rotation of the carrier around the axis of the housing, the rail connected onto the carrier by means of the connection element and the tray placed onto the rail are positioned at a level different in the cooking cavity then a first level corresponding to the first position of the carrier.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the rail has a telescopic structure. In this embodiment, by means of a pulling force applied onto the rail when the rail is in any level in the cooking cavity, the rail is enabled to move out of the cooking cavity. Thus, the tray is enabled to be easily placed onto the rail outside the cooking cavity and/or the tray on the rail is enabled to be taken out of the cooking cavity.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the oven of the present invention comprises at least one fixing means, such as screw, etc., which enables the fixing element to be fixed onto the connection plate. In this embodiment of the present invention, during the assembly of the oven, when the relevant ends of the carrier are properly fitted into the housings provided on the connection plates, the fixing element which prevents the carrier ends from leaving the housing is fixed onto the
connection plate by means of at least one fixing means. Thus, the assembly is easily performed, and thanks to the proper placement of the carrier ends into the housings, any problems such as getting caught, etc. during the movement of the carrier are prevented.
By means of the present invention, by rotating a carrier supporting the rail whereon the tray can be placed around the axis of the housings provided on the connection plates disposed onto the side walls, the level of the rail and hence of the tray placed onto the rail in the cooking cavity can be easily changed. Thereby, by means of a fixing element said carrier is enabled to be safely kept in a first position where the rail is positioned at a certain level in the cooking cavity and by means of at least one holder the rail is safely kept in a predetermined secondary position in the cooking cavity at another level than the level when the carrier is in the first position. In the oven of the present invention, moreover, by means of the telescopic structure of the rail, the rail is enabled to move out of the cooking cavity with a pulling force applied independently of the level thereof in the cooking cavity.

The oven (1) comprises a cooking cavity (5) which is defined by two opposite side walls (2) and a top wall (3) and a bottom wall (4) which connect said walls (2) and wherein the cooking process is performed (Figure 1).
The oven (1) of the present invention comprises two connection plates (6) which are oppositely placed onto the side walls (2); at least one housing (7) which is provided on each of the connection plate (6); at least one carrier (8) of which the opposite ends are borne in the housings (7); at least two rails (9) which are placed onto the carrier (8) so as to be almost parallel to the top wall (3) and the bottom wall (4) and which allows the placement of the tray thereon; at least one fixing element (10) which is disposed onto each connection plate (6) so as to at least partially surround the housing (7) and which is configured to keep the carrier (8) in a predetermined first position and to keep the end of the carrier (8) in the housing (7) in order to enable the carrier (8) to make rotational movement around the axis of the housing (7) such that the carrier (8) moves from said first position to at least one secondary position when a force applied onto the carrier (8), and at least one holder (11) which is disposed on each connection plate (6) and which keeps the carrier (8) in at least one secondary position (Figure 2). In the oven (1) of the present invention, with the rotation of the carrier (8) around the axis of the housing (7), the level in the cooking cavity (5) of the rail (9) supporting the tray containing the foodstuffs to be cooked or already cooked can be changed. The first position of the carrier (8) corresponds to a first rail (9) position wherein the rail (9) is at a predetermined level in the cooking cavity (5) and at least one secondary position of the carrier (8) corresponds to a secondary rail (9) position wherein the rail (9) is at a different level than the first rail (9) position in the cooking cavity (5).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing element (10) comprises at least one channel (12) which maintains at least one part of the carrier (8) when the carrier (8) is kept in the first position. Thus, the carrier (8), hence the rail (9)
placed onto the carrier (8) and the tray placed onto the rail (9) are enabled to be safely kept in the first position.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing element (10) comprises at least one slit (13) which is provided on the surface thereof facing at least one holder (11) and which joins with the channel (12). In this embodiment of the present invention, when a force is applied onto the carrier (8) which is in the first position wherein at least one part thereof is maintained in the channel (12), the carrier (8) makes rotational movement around the axis of the housing (7) and at least one section of the carrier (8) reaches the slit (13). Thus, the carrier (8) is enabled to be brought to a position different than the first position by means of a rotational movement. Moreover, by means of the walls limiting the slit (13), the carrier (8) is allowed to make the rotational movement only up to a predetermined angle, and this ensures the controlled movement of the carrier (8).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the fixing element (10) comprises at least one intermediate wall (14) which extends on the surface where the channel (12) and the slit (13) join. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, said intermediate wall (14) may stretch if a certain amount of force is applied thereon and may return to its initial state when the force is removed. By means of said intermediate wall (14), while the carrier (8) is in the first position wherein at least one part thereof is maintained in the channel (12), the carrier (8) is prevented from involuntarily moving towards the slit (13) and the carrier (8) is prevented from starting to make rotational movement. In other words, by means of said intermediate wall (14), the part of the carrier (8) remaining in the channel (12) in the first position is prevented from leaving the channel (12) in an uncontrolled manner and the carrier (8) is prevented from making rotational movement around the axis of the housing (7). When the carrier (8) is desired to be brought from the first position to another secondary position, the force applied onto the carrier (8) stretches the intermediate wall (14) so as to allow a part of the carrier (8) to enter the slit (13). Thus, the carrier (8) starts to make rotational movement and at least
one section of the part of the carrier (8) maintained in the channel (12) leaves the channel (12) and enters the slit (13).
In an embodiment of the present invention, each connection plate (6) comprises two holders (11) one of which is positioned higher than the fixing element (10) and the other lower than the fixing element (10). Thus, by keeping the rail (9) whereon the tray is placed at an intermediate level wherein the carrier (8) is kept in a first position by the fixing element (10) (Figure 3), at a high level wherein the carrier (8) is held by the holder (11) positioned above the fixing element (10) as the carrier (8) in the first position is rotated in a first direction so as to be brought to a secondary position (Figure 4), and at a low level wherein the carrier (8) is held by the holder (11) positioned below the fixing element (10) as the carrier (8) in the first position is rotated in a direction opposite to the first direction so as to be brought to another secondary position (Figure 5), the cooking process is enabled to be performed at three different levels in the cooking cavity (5).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the rail (9) comprises at least one connection element (15) which grasps at least one part of the carrier (8) so as to allow the carrier (8) to rotate therein and which provides the connection to the carrier (8). By the connection element (15) allowing the carrier (8) to rotate therein, the rail (9) is prevented from rotating during the rotational movement of the carrier (8) around the axis of the housing (7), and thus the rail (9) is enabled to always extend almost parallel to the top wall (3) and the bottom wall (4).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the holder (11) is a flexible clip which grasps at least one part of the carrier (8). In this embodiment of the present invention, when the carrier (8) is rotated around the axis of the housing (7) to be brought from the first position to another position, the carrier (8) is pressed on towards the holder (11) which is the clip and thus the relevant part of the carrier (8) is enabled to be inserted into the clip. After the relevant part of the carrier (8) is inserted into the clip, the pressure on the clip is interrupted and the clip returns
to its initial state and grasps the relevant part of the carrier (8), thus keeping the carrier (8) in the relevant position in a safe manner.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the carrier (8) is in the form of a tube and comprises two first extensions (16) which enter the housing (7) provided on the connection plate (6) from one end, a second extension (17) which extends between the ends of the first extensions (16), which do not enter the housings (7), parallel to the first extensions (16) such that a distance remains between the second extension (17) and the first extensions (16), and two third extensions (18) which join the relevant ends of the second extension (17) and the ends of the first extensions (16) which do not enter the housing (7). In this embodiment of the present invention, the first extensions (16) are inserted into the housings (7) from the ends thereof not connected to the third extension (18) such that at least part thereof remains in the housing (7) provided on the connection plates (6). While the carrier (8) is in the first position, at least one part of the third extension (18) remains inside the channel (12). The connection element (15) is connected onto the second extension (17) and grasps at least one part of the second extension (17), thus enabling the rail (9) to be fixed onto the carrier (8). In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the connection element (15) is connected onto the second extension (17) at a point where the second extension (17) and the third extensions (18) are in contact. Moreover, the second extension (17) supports the tray placed onto the rail (9) from below, thus enabling the tray to be safely held. When a force is applied onto the carrier (8) to move the carrier (8) from the first position to a secondary position in the cooking cavity (5), the part of the third extension (18) remaining in the channel (12) starts to apply pressure onto the intermediate wall (14) and when the force acting on the intermediate wall (14) reaches a level sufficient for stretching the intermediate wall (14), the part of the third extension (18) remaining inside the channel (12) leaves the channel (12). As the force is continued to be applied onto the carrier (8), the carrier (8) rotates around the axis of the housing (7) and at least one part of the third extension (18)
moves from the channel (12) towards the slit (13). When at least one part of the third extension (18) remaining inside the slit (13) gets in contact with the wall limiting the slit (13), the carrier (8) stops its rotational movement around the axis of the housing (7). In this case by pressing at least one part of the third extension (18) onto the holder (11), the holder (11) is enabled to firmly grasp the relevant section of the third extension (18) and the carrier (8) is enable to be kept in the relevant secondary position. Thus, with the rotation of the carrier (8) around the axis of the housing (7), the rail (9) supported on the carrier (8) and hence the tray placed onto the rail (9) are enabled to be positioned at a level different in the cooking cavity (5) then a first level corresponding to the first position of the carrier (8).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the rail (9) has a telescopic structure. Thus, by applying a pulling force onto the rail (9), the rail (9) is enabled to extend from inside the cooking cavity (5) towards the outside of the cooking cavity (5). Thus, the user is not required to put his/her hand into the very hot cooking cavity (5) to take away the tray on the rail (9) for example during the cooking process or after the cooking process.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the oven (1) of the present invention comprises at least one fixing means (19) which enables the fixing element (10) to be placed onto the connection plate (6). In an embodiment of the present invention said fixing means (19) is for example a screw. In this embodiment of the present invention, any problems such as getting caught, etc. during the movement of the carrier (8) are prevented by properly inserting the relevant ends of the carrier (8) into the housings (7) provided on the connection plate (6) during the assembly process before the fixing element (10) is mounted thanks to the fixing element (10) being fixed onto the connection plate (6) with at least one fixing means (19).
By means of the present invention, by rotating a carrier (8) supporting the rail (9) whereon the tray is placed around the axis of the housings (7) provided on the connection plates (6) disposed onto the side walls (2), the level of the rail (9) and
hence of the tray placed onto the rail (9) in the cooking cavity (5) can be easily changed. Thereby, by means of a fixing element (10) said carrier (8) is enabled to be safely kept in a first position where the rail (9) is positioned at a certain level in the cooking cavity (5) and by means of at least one holder (11) the rail (9) is safely kept in a predetermined secondary position in the cooking cavity (5) at another level than the level when the carrier (8) is in the first position. In the oven (1) of the present invention, moreover, by means of the telescopic structure of the rail (9), the rail (9) is enabled to move out of the cooking cavity (5) with a pulling force applied independently of the level thereof in the cooking cavity (5).
