  • the lid tongue 131 is then inserted into the aperture 112 to close the container 110.
  • matches 150 are glued to the inner face of holding portion front panel 141 F, which is folded by a right angle towards the inner face of holding portion bottom panel 141 B, which is in turn folded by a right angle towards the inner face of flap front panel 140F so that the matches lie against it.
  • the completely closed packaging has the flap 140 wrapped around the container 1 10 with the flap left side panel 140LS overlying the container left side panel 1 10LS, the flap front panel 140F overlying the lid front panel 130F (which in turn overlies the container front panel 11 OF), with the holding portion front panel 141 F sandwiched therebetween, the flap right side panel 140RS partially overlying the container right side panel 1 10RS and the flap tongue 142 partially underlying the container rear panel 11 OR, trapped between the inner face of container rear panel 1 10R and the rear side of the cigarettes 120.
  • Packaging 100 can be made from the blank of Figure 1 C by folding alone.

  • the flap blank of Figure 2A comprises a flap rear panel 240R articulated along a fold line on one of its sides with respect to a flap right side panel 240RS.
  • a flap front panel 240F is in turn articulated along a fold line with respect to the edge of the flap right side panel 240RS opposite that articulated along the flap rear panel 240R.
  • a flap tongue 242 is in turn articulated along a fold line with respect to the edge of the flap front panel 240F opposite that articulated along the flap right side panel 240RS.

  • one or more items are affixed to the inner face of holding portion front panel 241 F, which is then folded by almost 180° up against the inner face of the flap front panel 240F to sandwich the items therebetween.
  • the inner face of the flap rear panel 240R is affixed to the outer face of the container rear panel 21 OR.
  • the flap tongue 242 is folded by a right angle towards the inner face of the flap front panel 240F, which is in turn folded by a right angle towards the inner face of the flap side panel 240LS, which is in turn folded by a right angle towards the inner face of the flap rear panel 240R.
  • the flap blank is wrapped around the container and, at the same time, the flap tongue 242 is tucked into the slit 270 to lie between the consumer goods in the container and the inner face of the container left side panel 210LS.
  • the flap right side panel 240RS overlies the container right side panel 210RS and the flap front panel overlies the lid front panel 230F (which in turn overlies the container front panel 21 OF, which in turn overlies the container front left and right side panels 210FL and 210FR), with the items sandwiched therebetween.
  • a slit is provided in a side edge of the container for securing a tongue portion of the flap.
  • a flap securing feature is optional. If a flap securing feature is included, other types could be used, for example a magnetic closing mechanism, an elastic loop for hooking over a button, or a resealable adhesive.
