Description

AN INNOVATIVE PACKAGING
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a packaging assembly which comprises two chambers in which substances (liquid-liquid, liquid solid, etc.) are disposed and is used for mixing the substances therein when the cap thereon is opened. Background of the Invention
In pharmaceutical industry and other similar sectors, a powder product should be mixed with a solvent (mostly water) before use. In the state of the art, the substance and the solvent that will be mixed are stored in separate containers and, when intended to be used, the two substances are placed in a separate container to mix them. After being mixed, the product to be used must be stored under suitable climatic conditions (cold) to prevent degradation thereof for purposes of reuse. An example of this is mixing the powder product with solvent (mostly water) before use which is already employed in the pharmaceutical industry. The mixing process in this example enables to obtain a dosage of at least 5 days, and the said product in a single package must be stored in the refrigerator after being dissolved for use so that the product remains stable without degrading for 5 days until the end of the last dose. When dissolving the powder product (mainly drugs), which must be diluted with its solvent before use, at least a five-day dose is reconstituted. With this application, preparation of all doses at a single time may result in loss of efficacy of the product by the fifth day, which is the final dose, and the user must carry the entire drug package with her/him for each dose which creates an unnecessary burden and the risk of contamination is high due to the opening and closing of the package for each dose. The invention of the European Patent document numbered, in the state of the art, relates to a container having two chambers used for storing and mixing of substances such as medicaments. The invention of the said document comprises a lower container and a cap which is preferably secured to the lower container by screwing and which has a covering body extending from the middle part thereof onto the lower container. In the said document, the volume space is formed at the part remaining between the lower container and the cap, but since there is no volume space on the cap, the user cannot drink the formed solution via the cap.

A packaging assembly (1), which can separately store the substances (liquid- liquid, liquid solid, etc.) to be mixed, and is used for mixing the said substances during use, comprises
at least one chamber (2), which has an aperture- shaped opening (21) on one side thereof to allow entry and exit of the substances, and which includes a volume space therein, at least one separating wall (3), which extends from the base of the chamber (2) to the opening (21) of the chamber (2) or is disposed at the part located between the base of the chamber (2) and the opening (21) of the chamber (2), and which separates the chamber (2) into at least two parts,
at least one cap (4), which is used by being attached onto the chamber (2), and which has a hollow inner part so as to be used for mixing and as a cup, and which comprises
• a side wall (41) for being disposed on the outer surface of the chamber (2), and
• a base part (42) for covering the opening (21) of the chamber (2).
The packaging assembly (1) of the present invention comprises a chamber (2) including a separating wall (3) which preferably separates its hollow inside into two parts, and a cap (4) which is used to cover the chamber (2) and is used for mixing the substances (liquid-liquid, liquid solid, etc.) separated by the separating wall (3) by means of its hollow inner space. The chamber (2) is in the form of a hollow container/package and has an opening (21) in the form of an aperture for entry and exit of the substances placed therein. In the chamber (2) there is provided a separating wall (3), which extends from the base of the chamber (2) to the opening (21) of the chamber (2), and which separates the interior of the chamber (2) into at least two parts. The cap (4) piece comprises a base portion (42) for covering the opening of the chamber (2) and a side wall (41) which completely covers the outer surface of the chamber (2) from outside.
In the cap (4) provided in the packaging assembly (1) of the present invention, the base part (42) of the cap (4) covers the opening (21) of the chamber (2) when it is completely in closed position (position wherein the substances are stored separately), and the base part (42) contacts the separating wall (3) thereby preventing mixing of the substances provided in different compartments in the chamber (2). The packaging assembly (1) is inverted (turned upside down) after it is filled such that the base part of the cap (4) faces the ground surface. By slightly removing the base part (42) of the cap (4) from the opening (21) of the chamber (2) (preferably by the inversion movement of the chamber), the substances travel through the opening (21) of the chamber (2) into the inner volume of the cap (4) and are mixed therein (the mixing position of the substances in the cap). By means of the sealing between the side wall (41) of the cap (4) and the outer wall of the chamber (2), the mixture is prevented from leaking out from between the cap (4) and the chamber (2). When the cap (4) is separated from the chamber (2), the solution which is mixed within the cap (4) can be easily drunk or used by the user by using the cap (4) as a cup.
In the packaging assembly (1) of the present invention, substances are placed in different compartments of the chamber (2) while the opening (21) of the chamber (2) is facing upwards, and the cap (4) is closed over the chamber and tightened (sealed). Upon sealing the cap (4), the substances can be stored in the chamber (2) without mixing with each other. When the substances in the chamber (2) are desired to be mixed, the chamber (2) is inverted (turned upside down) such that the opening (21) faces downwards, and upon pulling the cap (4), the base part (42) of the cap (4) is moved away from the opening (21) of the chamber (2) and the substances flow/fall into the volume in the cap (4) and mix with each other. When the cap (4) is fully opened (detached from the chamber), the solution contained in the cap (4) becomes drinkable/usable by the user. Here, the cap (4) can be used as a cup with its hollow inner volume.
In one embodiment of the invention, the outer surface of the chamber (2) and the cap (4) are connected to each other by a slot-thread connection. Upon inversion of the cap (4) or the chamber (2), the cap (4) can be opened, closed or slightly moved away from the chamber (2).
In one embodiment of the invention, at least one connecting groove (22) is provided on the outer surface (outer wall) of the chamber (2). In one embodiment of the present invention, there is provided a connection thread (43), which is compatible with the connection slot (22), on the inner surface (inner wall) of the side wall (41) of the cap (4). With a rotational movement, the cap (4) can be moved back and forth over the chamber (2) by means of a thread-slot connection. In another embodiment of the present invention, there is a slot path consisting of interconnected connection slots (22), and as the rotational movement is greater, the opening time will be increased.
In one embodiment of the invention, the chamber (2) is in the form of a cylinder with one open end. In one embodiment of the invention, the cap (4) is in the form of a cylinder with one open end.
In one embodiment of the present invention, at least one bevel (23) is provided at the outer comer portion of the opening (21) of the chamber (2), wherein the bevel is obliquely cut and the bevel corresponds to the intersection of the side wall (41) and the base part (42) of the cap (4).
In one embodiment of the present invention, there is provided at least one stopper (24) which is in the form of a protrusion extending from the base of the chamber (2) and is adapted to contact the end of the side wall (41) of the cap (4). When the cap (4) is in the fully closed (sealed) position, the end portion of the side wall (41) of the cap (4) contacts the stopper (24).
In one embodiment of the present invention, there is provided at least one groove (44) which is in the form of a flow path (trough) at the end portion of the side wall (41) of the cap (4) and which facilitates the user to drink the mixture contained in the cup.
In one embodiment of the present invention, at least one sealing member is provided, which is located at the end portion of the separating wall (3) at the aperture, and which provides sealing between the separating wall (3) and the base part (42) of the cap (4). In another embodiment of the invention, the sealing member (4) is rubber or a gasket.
In one embodiment of the present invention, the packaging assembly (1) is used in the pharmaceutical sector for storing and mixing the drug.
