Abstract
A thermal mate cup with electrically assisted heating comprising a thermal conductive container to keep the yerba hot; a thermal insulator; at least one electrical resistor arranged between the container and the thermal insulator; and at least one power supply means that allows an electric current to pass through the resistor. Preferably, the entire assembly is protected by a layer of thermal insulating material. The electrical resistor generates enough heat to transmit it to the wet yerba, preventing it from cooling and thus delaying the loss of flavour and preserving the properties of the yerba leaves for longer than is usual in other types of mate cups. The thermal mate cup also comprises a uniformly shaped straw which is substantially straight to facilitate extraction from the mass of wet yerba without breaking it up, thus preserving of the flavour of the infusion and the structure of the mass of wet yerba in the container.
