Description

SMART BOOKMARKER
Technical Field
Invention relates to bookmarkers that are placed between pages of all books and similar products with pages in order to mark the reader’s place.
Invention particularly relates to bookmarker once placed between a book to be read in order to keep reader’s place by keeping the unread pages tightened together and releasing read pages free while the reader turns pages
State of the Art
Current bookmarkers used today are usually cartoon boards that are placed between the pages manually, and they are transferred to other page manually when a page is read.
Bookmarker used as mentioned in prior art comes out of the book when book is dropped and thus the reader’s last read page becomes very difficult to find.
In the related art, in case of urgent situations the book is closed immediately and as there is no time or it is forgotten to put bookmarker, the page where stopped is lost.
In the related art, when taking a break while reading, the book is directly closed by mistake and again the page where stopped is lost.
In the related art, the next page is turned without taking bookmarker out and thus changing page becomes quite difficult.
Another method used in the related art is to mark the page where stopped with the help of a strip fixed to book binding. In such a case, again the disadvantages given in former paragraph continue.
In brief, moving bookmarker at each and every page manually causes extra effort and loss of time.
In the patent search in the prior art, the file numbered US8701588 B2 is encountered. The bookmarker disclosed there under is a clipped apparatus. The mentioned apparatus is clipped and fixed onto the page being read from sides or top. However, when turning a page, it needs to be removed and inserted again to the other page.
When the related art is searched, another patent application numbered US2018001577 A1 has been found. This application discloses a bookmarker in the form of a paper inserted to the read page to mark the stopped page. This also has to be removed when it is needed to turn the page.
We encountered several embodiments related to the mentioned bookmarkers as we searched through the literature. One of them is the utility model entitled“Functional bookmarker” numbered TR2007/05761. Unclassified B42D 3/12 invention states that “invention is a bookmarker characterized in comprising a lightning unit like torch and a marking unit like a pen on tip part.” This invention, which is originated in Turkey, is put between the last read page, and the bookmark is mainly provided with a lightning and writing function. This is to be displaced each time as the page is turned by the reader.
The disadvantages of the applications for the related techniques are given above. Therefore, the aforementioned applications can be given as example for above mentioned disadvantages.
In conclusion, developments have been made in bookmarkers in parallel to the technology and, therefore, new embodiments eliminating the above disadvantages and offering solutions to existing systems are needed.
Aim of the Invention
The invention relates to a bookmarker different from the embodiments used in the related art and is developed to solve the aforementioned disadvantages and also providing some additional advantages.
The aim of the invention is to place an elastic strip onto one of four corners far from binding of the book and thus elastic strip holds the remaining pages as the page is turned by the reader and thus display last read page automatically.
Another aim of the invention is to enable marking of the page thanks to the elastic strip where reading is stopped when a book falls down by mistake or closed urgently. Thus when a page is turned, the page where reading is stopped remains unforgotten indicated. A further aim of the invention is to enable reading book easily without any need to change the bookmarker’s place each time when a page is turned by the reader.
In order to achieve above purposes, a bookmarker is developed which can be attached to the corners of all kinds of book and similar paged products and allows to move to the next page automatically to show the reader’s last read page, without any further need to intervene. The bookmarker has flexible surfaces which can automatically adjust its height according to thickness of the book thanks to its elasticity feature. There are“adherence surfaces” providing an easy grasp of the corners of the book page which are produced uniformly to be on the sides of the said flexible surfaces. It contains page marker surface indicating the read page, which is adjacent to elastic surface in order to remain in mid-section of said flexible surfaces.

Detailed Description of the Invention Structure principle:
Mentioned bookmark (10) is designed in 3 different models, namely; sticky, magnet and hole bookmarker.
Said bookmarker (10) in general comprises of flexible surfaces (11 ), an adherence surface (12) and a page indicator surface (13). Combination of all those sections can be defined as a uniform elastic member (15). Figure 1 shows perspective view of magnetic model of bookmark (10) of which both open ends are joined together. The adherence surface (12) seen on the upper part of the figure comprises by joining the two ends of the bookmarker (10).
Figure 10 shows perspective view of bookmarker (10) designed in magnetic model. This model consists of two wide embodiment connected to uniform elastic member (15) making read page separation from lower and upper sides. Part remaining in upper section is called the upper magnet (124) the one in lower section is called the lower magnet (123). The upper magnet (124) and the lower magnet (123) function as holding surface (12). These two structures are placed as lower and upper part onto lower cover or lower pages of book (K) desired to be held. After placement, the uniform elastic member (15) is held and inserted onto the read page and thus the page intended to be marked is bookmarked.
Figure 4 shows two-dimension view of the inner side of bookmark (10) consisting of sticky part (121 ) on holding surfaces (12) and connected to each other with the support of the glue.
There is side surfaces that are extendable as per thickness of the book and have flexible surfaces (11 ) enabling use for books of any size. It enables the remaining pages to be held and kept tightly.
A page indicator surface (13) on lower part is of flat nature and provides indication of read pages.
Figure 2 shows perspective view of bookmark (10). Flowever, this bookmarker (10) is fixed by means of sticking open ends of adherence surface (12) or sticking directly onto back surface of the book.
Figure 3 shows open form of bookmarker (10) from front surface. As it can be seen, bookmarker (10) is a flat and two-open ended structure. When desired to be put onto a book (K), adherence surfaces (12) with open end is inserted onto corner of the book (K) and thus connected. Figure 5 shows perspective view of bookmarker (10) when attached to a book (K) corner.
Hole model of bookmarker (10) is given in figure 7. This structure is passed through the holes (141 ) that exist on the binder or inner pages of the book (K) and is in uniform elastic unit (15) consisting of page indicator surface (13) and adherence surface (12). A protective layer (14) is inserted onto the corner of book (K) so as to prevent holes from being worn off (141 ). This protective layer (14) has holes (141 ) thereon in a manner they match the holes provided on the book corner.
3 holes (141 ) are made on the book (K) corner in a manner having perpendicular angle with each other as shown in Figure 7. Starting from sides close to each, uniform elastic unit (15) is inserted into holes (141 ) facing each other and thus joined from the ends. As shown in C detail, 3 uniform elastic units (15) are inserted into holes (141 ) mutually, and the structure is formed. Having 3 units is for purpose of use for books in different thickness. Here one single hole can be used with one elastic unit (15) and number of holes can be 3, 4 or any desired number as it is mentioned above. In addition to all, the uniform elastic unit (15) with one single hole (141 ) is made widely and passed through such hole (141 ) with a higher width.
An alternative for hole-structure is the one wherein holes are provided on facing corners on side of book (K) and the long uniform elastic member (15) is passed through them. Thus contrary to view shown in figure 8, marking is made by means of the uniform elastic unit (15) placed not on corner of book (K) but longitudinally.
Said holes (141 ) can be both made on the binder cover of the book and the last page of book (K) and protective layer (14) can be inserted thereto. Thus those wishing not to see anything other than the book (K) can also use this alternative.
Figure 8 shows the back surface view of book (K) after mounting the structure. As it can be seen, part called holding surface (12) wraps the back surface of book (K) and keeps the structure fixed to the book (K).
Figure 9 shows the uniform elastic member (15) placed onto a certain page of book (K). Thanks to elastic structure, the uniform elastic member (15) selected as per thickness of book (K) with page to be indicated is made flexible and thus desired page is turned. Uniform elastic member (15) has a handle (131 ) placed in mid-part of page indicator surface (13). The handle (131 ) is the part providing easy placement of the uniform elastic unit (15) onto book and also helping marking of page after placement thereof. It can move to the right and left on the uniform elastic unit (15).
How to mount;
Detail A shown in said figure 5 shows how to insert the bookmarker (10) onto the corner of the book (K). The seen part is the page indicator surface (13) corresponding to inner part of book in upper part of book (K) and indicating the read page.
The flexible surfaces (1 1 ) seen on side parts are automatically adjusted according to the thickness of book by stretching.
Figure 6 shows rear view of bookmark (10) when inserted onto book (K) corner. As clearly seen in B detail of this picture, adherence surfaces (12) on the rear surface of book (K) are stuck onto each other and connected. As sticky parts forming inner parts of the holding surfaces (12) are of sticky nature, the joining is provided easily. Depending on size of the book (K) sticking onto book (K) surface also provides fixing.
For the mounting, the adherence surfaces (12) are connected to the very back cover of book (K) or mid-pages when book is thick. The holding surface (12) has sticky or magnet alternatives for this connection.
A protective gelatin (122) is provided on the mentioned sticky part (121 ) in order to prevent the loss of sticky nature while not in use.
Flow to use:
Way of using bookmark (10) by a person after attaching the bookmarker (10) onto the book (K) corner as mentioned above is described in figure 5.
When the person needs to turn page while reading book (K), s/he does not touch bookmarker (10) but only turns the page by removing it from the bookmarker (10).
Thanks to its flexible surface (1 1 ), there is not a lot of pressure on the pages. Thus turned page leaves the bookmark (10) very easily. When a new page is turned over, the page indicator surface (13) of bookmarker (10) indicate last read page automatically. Same process is repeated for each page.
Thus while reading a book (K) reader does not forget the last read page where stopped in case of immediate need to close the book or the book is closed by itself by mistake.
In hole bookmark (10) shown in figure 7, as described in principle of model structure, after mounting, one of the uniform elastic members (15) is placed onto page to be read . Flexing is performed by help of elastic structure of the uniform flexible member (15). One of 3 different uniform elastic members can be used subject to according to the current thickness of book (K). While the longest one can be used in the thickest form, the smallest one can be used in the thinnest form.
Figure 9 shows perspective view of uniform elastic member (15) placed on last read page.
Figure 10 shows perspective view of bookmark (10) designed in magnetic model. Figure 1 1 shows the rear view of book (K) when inserted on the book (K). The lower magnet (123) and the upper magnet (124) are placed on outer cover or inner pages of the book (K) in such manner that the holding page remains in the middle. Thus book mark (10) is held onto book (K). Thereafter, uniform elastic member (15) is pulled and placed on read page. Figure 13 shows the case when uniform elastic member (15) is placed on last read page.
Flere the lower magnet (123) and the upper magnet (124) are placed on inner page or binding cover of book (K) and uniform elastic member (15) marks the read page. In addition, read page can also be indicated by the upper magnet (124). If book (K) will not be read for a long time, the lower magnet (123) and upper magnet (124) can be placed more inner pages of the book (K) or desired page. Thanks to the uniform elastic member (15) combining these two components, the lower magnet (123) and the upper magnet (124) are distanced from each and can be placed in different places in the book (K).
Figure 12 shows perspective view of the lower magnet (123) and the upper magnet (124) inserted onto back cover of the book (K) after mounting.
