Attention is now directed to the drawings, where like reference numerals or characters indicate corresponding or like components.
In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is an illustration of the apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention;
FIGs. 2A and 2B are front and back views of the indicator of the apparatus of
FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a top front left view of the apparatus of FIG. 1; FIG. 4 is a front view of the apparatus of FIG. 1; DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
The present invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangement of the components set forth in the following description. The invention is capable of other embodiments, or of being practiced or carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
The present invention provides an apparatus for maintaining a hygienic and clean environment around sinks and food handling areas.
FIG. 1 is an illustration of the apparatus 100. The apparatus 100 includes a body 102 having a base 104, an external envelope 106 extending substantially vertically from the base 104 and surrounding it, and one or more inner walls 108 extending substantially vertically from the base 104 creating inner cavities that may be fully or partially separated from one another. The external envelope 106 is made of several walls that may have different or same heights as do the inner walls 108.
The apparatus 100 further includes an internal lining or cover 110 shaped to be placed within the body 102 and fully or partially cover the interior of the body 102. The internal lining or cover 110 allows the absorption of liquid drops released for products, for example, cleaning brushes, bottles of dishwashing liquids, scrub brushes, scrubbing pads, steel wools and the like positioned on top of it. The internal lining or cover 110 filters the dirt in the liquid drops, prevents dampness and allows the measurement of bacteria accumulated on it. The internal lining or cover 110 is made of, for example, organic and/or ecological biodegradable material with anti bacterial properties. The anti-bacterial properties of the internal lining or cover 110 prevent and/or inhibit the growth and reproduction of bacteria on it. The internal lining or cover 110 may be replaceable or constant and may be designed for short or long term use. The internal lining or cover 110 includes, for example, a main portion 112, adjusted to cover a portion of the apparatus 100, for example, the base 102, and an extended portion 114 connected to main portion 112 by, for example, extending substantially vertically from it. The extended portion 114, best seen in FIGs. 2A and 2B, includes, for example, an indicator or a scale bar 116 for identifying the level or amount of bacteria on the internal lining or cover 110. The indicator or scale bar 116 can also be positioned on the body 102. The indicator or scale bar 116 is, for example, a physical, chemical (e.g. pH meter) or biological indicator that identifies the level of bacteria by, for example, measuring the pH level, measuring the number of bacteria accumulated on the internal lining or cover 110, measuring and/or identifying the presence of specific chemical products on the internal lining or cover and the like. The vertical extension of the extended portion 114 from the main portion 112 is designed to allow the liquid drops to accumulate on the main portion 112 as well as to prospone the arrival of the liquid absorbed by the main portion 112 to the indicator or scale bar 116.
The apparatus 100 additionally includes a hanging portion 118, best seen in FIG. 3, shaped for hanging kitchen towels, cloth towels and the like.
In operation, different products, for example, cleaning brushes, bottles of dishwashing liquids, scrub brushes, scrubbing pads, steel wools and the like are positioned within the body 102 containing the internal lining or cover 110. The different products release liquid drops that were previously absorbed by them during their use. The released drops are constantly absorbed by the main portion 112 of the internal lining or cover 110. Once the liquid absorbed spreads throughout the internal lining or cover 110 and reaches the extended portion 114, an indicator e.g. a pH meter positioned on the extended portion 114 measures the pH level of the liquid. When the indicator 116 indicates that the pH of the internal lining or cover 110 surpasses a predetermined value, for example, a pH of 8, or deviates a predetermined range, for example between 4 and 8, the internal lining or cover 110 is no longer in proper for use and should be replaced.
In another embodiment, the internal lining or cover 110 can be used to determine whether a specific product or products such as scrubbing pads and scrub brushes are still proper for use or should be replaced by positioning the specific product or products on top of the internal lining or cover 110 and measuring, for example, the pH level of the product or products, measuring and/or identifying the presence of specific chemical components on the product or products and the like.
FIG. 4 is a top front left view the apparatus 100. The apparatus 100 includes an internal lining or cover 110 covering the base 102 of the apparatus 100. The internal lining or cover 110 includes an indicator 116 extending vertically upwards along a lateral wall of the external envelope 106. While the invention has been described with respect to a limited number of embodiments, it will be appreciated that many variations, modifications and other applications of the invention may be made. Therefore, the claimed invention as recited in the claims that follow is not limited to the embodiments described herein.
