Description

WALLET FOR MONEY AND CARDS
Technical Held In general, the invention considered herein relates to the field of personal use items or travel items. In particular, it is a fashion accessory used for keeping and storing of and easy access to coins and banknotes, payment cards, business cards, ID documents and the like. More specifically, it is a wallet that features a completely new innovative design, which pertains to the segment of leatherware.
In accordance with the international patent classification, the invention considered herein falls within human necessities and in particular it may be classified as follows:
A45C 1/00 [2006.01] Personal use or travel items
A45C 1/06 [2006.01] Wallets; Notecases
A45C 1/08 [2006.01] Combinations of purses and wallets
Technical issues
Designing a small-sized wallet with great capacity, extremely resistant to external impacts such as moisture, shocks and various types of exceptionally strong mechanical forces, whose durability will make it a long-lasting product for storing and safekeeping of banknotes, coins, plastic or business cards. A new construction of the wallet should also enable protection of money from scattering and falling out, protection of payment and credit cards from theft of money by means of electronic devices via RFID protocols, faster and more efficient use of money and cards, as well as the feature of unchangeableness of the shape regardless of the quantity of money it holds. This wallet should improve the modem consumer culture, as well as be in line with the standards and regulations that govern the matters in this area. State of the art
Almost all leather wallets that are currently present on the market, even the best-selling ones, are made of almost the same types of materials, have a similar construction, went through similar manufacturing processes and show almost the same non-functionalities. In particular, in standard leather wallets more attention is paid to fashionable details than to functionality, resistance to external impacts and effects of strong forces and to security of the contents. Most leather wallets offered in the market do not incorporate new solutions in terms of safer keeping and easier access to the contents and their better layout.
The first disadvantage is insufficient compactness, so they cannot guarantee the security of the contents in the money compartment, which might result in falling out of money and cards. Small capacities, insufficient depth and impractical layout of the banknotes compartment, as well as nonfunctionality of the coin case may cause, over time and after their frequent use, disfiguration of the original appearance, strains and other mechanical damages to traditional wallets. Also, slipping out of plastic cards from the card pockets is an issue. The process of taking plastic cards out of card pockets can pose a problem - it can be a long and painstaking thing to do; cards often stick to the fingers and there is not enough space to put the finger in and pull the card out.
The process of manufacturing of wallets is a problem in itself. Since wallets are rather complicated structurally, it is not possible to achieve greater speed of production without compromising the quality of the product. The above-mentioned problems and frustration experienced when using the available wallets, as well as long-standing experience in working with leather, brought about a more elegant and more functional solution: designing a brand-new concept of a wallet, a wallet that has a stylish and attractive design, whose manufacturing is simpler and whose functionality enables quick and easy use of both cash and cards. Besides, it provides greater security of the wallet’s contents, as well as protection from their scattering; it provides greater protection from theft of money by means of electronic devices via RFID protocols, from disfiguration or physical damage, moisture or bad weather. All this makes it ideal for everyday use in all areas of life and work.
Even though the available patent documentation and rather voluminous professional literature in the field of manufacturing of wallets has been carefully examined, no solution relevant to the considered invention has been found. Disclosure of invention
The novelty of the invention is in the construction of a simple and compact wallet for money and cards, carried out in such a way as to enable small dimensions, large storage capacity, better layout, enhanced protection for the end user both from scattering of the contents and theft of money by means of electronic devices via RFID protocols, protection from disfiguration or physical damage, moisture or bad weather, as well as easier handling of money and cards.
The essence of the invention is in the choice of the materials, a simple construction, the manner of connecting different materials, the manner in which certain components are made, and the very manner of assembly of the final product, all of which enables exceeding of the current state of the art in several segments. This wallet keeps its original shape regardless of the quantity of cash and cards, it has a stylish and attractive design and it enables quick and easy use of both cash and cards. Besides, it provides greater security of the wallet’s contents, as well as protection from their scattering; it provides greater protection from theft of money by means of electronic devices via RFID protocols, from disfiguration or physical damage, moisture or bad weather, while coins are neatly stored in a module inserted in the housing. In this specific case, the module is a functional drawer for coins, however, modules can be any type of mechanical or electrical assemblies made in accordance with the module’s dimensions.
In addition to the above mentioned ones, the invention considered herein has even more advantages in comparison to the existing solutions in the market and the most important advantages are as follows:
Strong locking
Innovative design
Original manner of use
Easy handling of plastic cards
- Small dimensions

Detailed description
It is easily noticeable from the enclosed drawings that the invention considered herein is a wallet, constructed in such a way as to ensure a range of advantages in comparison with the existing models due to its shape and manner of manufacturing: a large storage capacity, better layout of the contents, enhanced protection for the end user from scattering and falling out of the contents, from theft of money by means of electronic devices via RFID protocols, disfiguration or physical damage and bad weather, as well as easier handling of money and cards.
During the elaboration of the invention idea it became clear that the considered invention needs to have an appealing appearance and it has to be simple to use, long-lasting and extremely resistant to external impacts such as moisture, heat, shocks, etc.
An important criterion for selection of a raw material to be used for the manufacture is the resistance of the material to effects of physical impacts, such as shocks, a change in temperature, moisture, electromagnetic waves, pressure, buckling, stretching, twisting and the like.
The wallet considered herein is made from organically tanned leather or other types of organic materials, rare-earth magnets, protective metal plates, impregnated lining and resin-coated spring thermoplastic, with a structure that is made of two parts, as follows:
I outer support (Figure 1) reinforced with metal plates 1, 2 and 3.
II inner support (Figure 2) with the central housing for insertion of multi-functional modules.
In the outer rectangular support, where the proportion of the sides is 7:3 (Figure 1), there are three metal sheet plates, 1, 2 and 3, sized 83x54mm with the tolerance of ±2mm, fixed in parallel on the impregnated lining. Due to such a construction, in the horizontal position the outer support acts as a three-part foldout structure conditioned by plates 1, 2 and 3. As shown in Figure 1, the foldout width of the outer support is controlled by two vertical strips, 11 and 12.
Figure 2 shows the inner support with a three-part structure, which fully matches the size of the outer support. The left pocket (34) and the right pocket (33) on the inner support are intended to hold the cards 40 and 41.
The foldout width of the inner support is controlled by two vertical strips, 13 and 14. The middle part (20) of the inner support has been reinforced by a thermal foil and it serves to fix the support by a central housing for insertion of multi-functional modules (16), whose construction is adapted to the multi-functional module 17 by thermal processing in a dedicated mold.
The multi-functional module 17 is a cuboid, as shown in Figure 2, sized 83x54x7 mm with the tolerance of ±0.5 m . Any personal use items or travel items, accessories, jewellery or any type of devices can be a module if their dimensions are identical as the dimensions of the module, so that they can be smoothly positioned into the housing.
In the lower part of the housing for modules (16) there is a cuboid block magnet (32) sized 10*4 mm and 2mm thick, whose tractive force draws the magnet 25, placed at the bottom of the module 17, toward the block magnet and positions the module 17 in the housing, as shown in the Figure 5.
The outer support (Figure 1) and the inner support (Figure 2) are connected by stitches 21, 26, 28 and
48, while the shorter sides of the outer and inner support (33 and 27) are free, as in Figure 3. Such a structure enables formation of the banknotes compartment (29).
The position of the metal plates 1 , 2 and 3 is determined by controlling the width of the strips 11 and 12 on the outer support, while the closing and opening of the patent invention is adjusted by sewing the strips 11 and 12 of the outer support to the strips 13 and 14 of the inner support, in a manner that the strip 14 tightens the end 48 and draws it towards the middle of the wallet, i.e. towards the housing for insertion of the module 16, as shown in Figure 5. Simultaneously, the strip 13 tightens the end
49, draws it inside and flaps it over the end 48, thus clasping the patent wallet with the fastener 5 and bringing it to a closed position, as shown in Figure 6. In the wallet’s closed position, the metal plates 1, 2 and 3 are in a parallel position, facing each other.
Each of the three metal plates secures two cards, by sewing the card pockets directly to the edges of the plates 1, 2 and 3, namely:
• metal plate 1 secures the cards 38 and 41 ,
• metal plate 2 secures the cards 31 and 37,
• metal plate 3 secure the cards 36 and 40.
Due to this structure, metal plates 1, 2 and 3 transfer the strength directly to the cards, by constantly clinging the cards to the plates, as shown in Figure 6. Such a structure in combination with the inserted module enables extreme resistance of the patent invention to effects of strong forces, physical shocks, changes in temperature, moisture, etc.
There are ellipsoid windows (10) on the external sides of the card pockets 36, 37, 38, 40, and 41. The end user can easily handle the cards, i.e. draw them in or out, by slipping a thumb through the windows (10), as shown in Figure 5.
In the bottom left comer of the metal plate 2 there is a round opening (8) (Figure 1). The opening 8 is used for placing the cylindrically shaped secondary magnet (7). The secondary magnet 7 is positioned in the middle of the opening 8, with the edge of the magnet 7 at 2mm distance from the edge of the opening 8. This solution is used to avoid the reaction between the metal plate 2 and the magnet 7, strengthening thereby the connection between the secondary magnet 7 and primary magnet 6.
The fastener (5), reinforced by a spring thermal foil, is sewn next to the metal plate 3 on the right- hand side of the patent invention, viewed from the outside, as shown in Figure 1. The fastener 5 is shaped by thermal processing in a dedicated mold to fit the strip 11 , encloses it and with the greater part of its surface goes over the flat part of the wallet, i.e. over the metal plate 2, as shown in Figure 4. There is a secondary round opening (15) at the narrower end of the fastener, which is used for placing of the cylindrically shaped primary magnet 6.
When the patent wallet is folded, the magnetic attraction force operates between the primary magnet 6 and the secondary magnet 7. Hence, the primary magnet 6 is going down in an arched path controlled by the shape of the fastener 5, as shown in Figure 6. In this way, the effect of snap closing of the wallet is achieved. When the patent invention is folded (Figure 7), the magnetic force between the primary magnet 6 and the secondary magnet 7 is greater than IT. This solution ensures strong locking and security of the patent wallet’s contents, both form scattering and falling out of money and from theft of money from payment and credit cards by means of electronic devices via RFID protocols, since the magnetic fields of the magnets 6, 7, 23 and 32 hinder the operation of the devices used for theft and prevent electromagnetic waves from reaching a card.
A tab (9) is placed at the end of the fastener 5, next to the primary magnet 6 - as shown in Figure 7. By using thermal processing, the tab 9 has been raised in a way as to form an angle of 35 degrees. In this way, the leverage effect is obtained when a finger is put under the tab 9; the leverage effect has a direct impact on the primary magnet 6 - it raises the primary magnet 6 at a 35-degree angle and releases it from the connection with the secondary magnet 7. After that, the fastener 5 operates as a spring and draws the primary magnet 6 outward, which makes the considered invention open up - as shown in Figure 5. This construction provides the effect of easy opening of the considered invention, while simultaneously preventing its accidental opening.
