Description

"CHECK VALVE "
DESCRIPTION
[0001] The object of the present invention is a check valve for liquids, for example for plumbing and heating systems.
[0002] In the field of check valves for plumbing and heating systems, there is a great need for particularly economical but effective solutions.
[0003] For this purpose, it is extremely important for the method of manufacture of the valves to be very simple, and in particular for the steps of assembly of the valve from the components to be very fast; at the same time, it is important that, for the components that allow it, inexpensive materials are used, while taking particular care to ensure that the reliability of the valve is not compromised .
[0004] A solution of such a check valve is illustrated, for example, in the Italian patent for invention No. 1412767.
[0005] The object of the present invention is to create a check valve that has been further improved in terms of cost effectiveness and functionality, as mentioned above.
[0006] This object is achieved by a check valve according to claim 1. The features and advantages of the check valve according to the present invention will be apparent from the description given below, provided by way of non- limiting example, in accordance with the accompanying figures, wherein:
- Figure 1 represents a longitudinal section of a check valve according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, in an open configuration;
- Figure 2 illustrates the check valve in Figure 1 in a closed configuration; and
- Figure 3 shows an enlargement of a detail of Figure 2.
[0007] With reference to the accompanying figures, a check valve is indicated collectively at 1.
[0008] The valve 1 comprises a tubular sleeve 2, which extends along a longitudinal axis X between a front inlet opening 4 and a rear outlet opening 6, with reference to the flow of liquid through the valve.
[0009] Internally, from the inlet opening 4 to the outlet opening 6, the sleeve 2 preferably has a front chamber 8 with a first diameter Dl, provided with an inner thread for mounting the valve 1 to the application for which it is intended.
[0010] Preferably, the front chamber 8 is cylindrical and has a bottom surface 10 in the form of a circular crown, lying on a plane orthogonal to the longitudinal axis X.
[0011] On said bottom surface 10, an internal passage 12 opens, which narrows the diameter Dl of the front chamber 8 and leads into a main chamber 14. [0012] The main chamber 14 is delimited, on the side opposite to the internal passage 12, by an annular ridge 16, protruding radially.
[0013] At the internal passage 12, the sleeve 2 has an abutment wall 18 protruding inside radially and penetrated by said internal passage 12; the abutment wall 18 has a frustoconical surface 19 facing the main chamber .
[0014] Preferably, the sleeve 2 further comprises, next to the main chamber 14, a rear chamber 22, beyond the annular ridge 16, in communication with the outside through said outlet opening 6.
[0015] The rear chamber 22 has a thread for mounting the valve 1 to the application.
[0016] The sleeve 2 is made in a single piece out of brass, by hot or cold forging and finishing by machining by chip removal .
[0017] The valve 1 further comprises a self-supporting cartridge 30 housed in the sleeve 2.
[0018] The cartridge 30 comprises a guide body 32, made in a single piece out of brass, by hot or cold forging and finishing by machining by chip removal.
[0019] The guide body 32 comprises an outer ring 34, continuous or continuous in sections, threaded externally, which may be screwed to the thread of the rear chamber 22, until it abuts against the annular ridge 16.
[0020] In addition, the guide body 32 comprises a guide tube 36 coaxial to the outer ring 34, having a predefined axial length.
[0021] The outer ring 34 and the guide tube 36 are connected by one or more radial spokes 38.
[0022] Additionally, the cartridge 30 comprises a valve member 40, supported and guided slidably by the guide body 32.
[0023] The valve member 40 comprises a shank body consisting of a preferably cylindrical shank 42, which is slidably guided into the guide tube 36, substantially in contact therewith, and a valve member head 50, preferably made out of brass in a single piece with the shank 42.
[0024] In particular, the shank 42 has a rear section 44 and a front section 46 with a smaller diameter relative to the rear section 44.
[0025] At a front end 37, the guide tube 36 has a portion 41, deformed, for example, by embossing, which creates a restriction which, by sliding onto the front section 46 of the shank 42 and abutting against the rear section 44, prevents the shank of the valve member from axially sliding off the guide body 32.
[0026] Preferably, the deformed portion 41 obtains a narrowing of a smaller diameter than the rear portion 41 of the shank 42, allowing only the front portion 46 to slide .
[0027] The valve member head 50 comprises a rear disc 52, on the side of the shank 42, and a front disc 54, axially spaced from the rear disc 52, so as to create a seal seat 56 between them.
[0028] The valve member 40 further comprises a seal ring 60, housed in said seal seat 56 of the valve member head 50.
[0029] In the closed configuration, the seal ring 60 is in abutment and pressed against the frustoconical surface 19, to obtain the liquid-tight seal.
[0030] Finally, the cartridge 30 comprises elastic means suitable to operate permanently on the valve member 40 to bring it into the closed configuration.
[0031] For example, said elastic means comprise a helical spring 70, threaded coaxially and externally to the guide tube 36, in compression between the spokes 38 and the rear disc 52 of the valve member head 50.
[0032] Innovatively, the check valve according to the present invention satisfies the requirements referred to with reference to the prior art.
[0033] In particular, the cartridge is easy to assemble, as it consists of components to be slid one on top of the other axially: the spring to be slid onto the shank of the valve member and the shank to be slid into the guide tube (and then carrying out the embossing that causes the narrowing) .
[0034] The cartridge forms a complete assembly, suitable to be housed in the sleeve of the check valve and is therefore called "self-supporting"; in other words, the valve member is supported and guided by the tube body, i.e. by the cartridge itself.
[0035] Advantageously, moreover, the embossing of the guide tube creates an extremely reliable engagement between the valve member and the guide body, as well as one that is quicker to make.
[0036] Moreover, advantageously, the assembly of the valve is very simple and fast, as it is sufficient to insert the cartridge into the sleeve and screw it in.
[0037] According to a further advantageous aspect, the assembly time for the valve is short, since the cartridge may be inserted into the sleeve without having to turn the sleeve over, since the insertion occurs fully on the side of the outlet opening.
[0038] It is apparent that one skilled in the art, in order to meet contingent needs, may make changes to the valve described above; these changes are contained within the scope of protection as defined by the following claims.
