Abstract

A safety garment system including a garment having an interior surface, an exterior surface, a harness, a first-handle, and a second-handle. The harness is configured on the interior surface of the garment. The first-handle and the second-handle are configured on the exterior surface and are positioned on opposing sides at a shoulder region of the garment. The garment is configured to be used to safely drag a victim to safety in an emergency using the harness, the first-handle, and the second-handle.

Description

SAFETY GARMENT SYSTEM
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art nor material to the presently described or claimed inventions, nor that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
1. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The present invention relates generally to the field of safety garments and more specifically relates to coveralls.
2. DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
[0003] Oil and gas well drilling and servicing activities involve many different types of equipment and materials. Workers in the oil and gas industries face the risk of fire and explosion due to ignition of flammable vapors or gases along with other risks. Flammable gases, such as well gases, vapors, and hydrogen sulfide, can be released from wells, trucks, production equipment or surface equipment. When a man is down, a person willing to save a life will be putting substantially more risk on their own life. Current methods are very unsafe for both parties involved. For a victim it is imperative to get to a fresh air environment as quickly as possible. A suitable and more efficient means for rescuing is desired. [0004] U.S. Pat. No. 7,917,968 to Phillip D. Roux relates to an armored garment with rescue strap. The described armored garment with rescue strap includes an armored garment, such as a vest, which has an attached rescue strap allowing a soldier in battle to quickly move a fallen comrade from immediate danger to safety. The rescue strap enables a rescuing soldier to move a wounded soldier in a manner that also allows the rescuing soldier to use his weapon and return enemy fire as necessary. The rescue strap may be affixed to an anchor strap secured to a panel of the garment and that distributes the pulling force across the garment panel. The rescue strap stores when not in use, but in a manner easily reached for quick deployment. A pull handle, for example a ring or a carabiner, can be affixed to an end of the strap to be grasped by a rescuing soldier. Pulling the handle draws the rescue strap from its storage location to be used to pull a wounded soldier to safety. A further feature of the armored garment is a stretchable flexible expansion joint that divides an outer woven back panel of the garment allowing greater freedom of movement to the wearer.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known safety garment art, the present disclosure provides a novel safety garment system. The general purpose of the present disclosure, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide an efficient garment for dragging wearers to safety in the event of an emergency.
[0006] A safety garment system is disclosed herein. The safety garment system includes a garment having an interior surface, an exterior surface, a harness, a first-handle, and a second- handle. The garment is defined by a body having the interior surface and the exterior surface. The harness is configured on the interior surface of the garment. The first-handle and the second-handle are configured on the exterior surface and are positioned on opposing sides at a shoulder region of the garment. The garment further includes a pair of patches configured to be secured on top of both the first-handle and the second-handle and conceal the first-handle and the second-handle. The garment is configured to be used to safely drag a victim to safety using the harness, the first-handle, and the second-handle.

[00015] As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a safety garment and more particularly to a safety garment system as used to improve safety for workers by providing a garment useful for dragging a person to safety quickly and efficiently.
[00016] Generally, the present invention is a safety garment including coveralls that may be used on drilling/service rigs and oil and gas plants of all kinds, for maintenance workers in the oil and gas industry. The purpose of the overalls is to protect a user if he or she should be overcome by H2S (or any form of gas, lack of 02, etc.) and‘go down’. The person or persons saving the victim will be able to drag the victim to safety in a much faster and safer manner. The garment includes a shoulder harness and handle loops at the shoulders so that the wearer can be dragged out of a dangerous area should they be overcome by dangerous gas for instance. The harness is light weight and the garment does not restrict the wearer. A rescuer may walk forward and upright while rescuing the victim. The handle loops are large enough to allow a rescuer to use any set of gloves or mitts.
[00017] Referring now more specifically to the drawings by numerals of reference, there is shown in FIGS. 1-5, various views of a safety garment system 100. FIG. 1 shows a safety garment system 100 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the safety garment system 100 may include a garment 110 having an interior surface 112, an exterior surface 116, a harness 120, a first-handle 124, and a second-handle 130. The garment 110 is defined by a body having the interior surface 112 and the exterior surface 116. The harness 120 is configured on the interior surface 112 of the garment 110. The first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 are configured on the exterior surface 116 and are positioned on opposing sides (left and right) at a shoulder region of the garment 110. The garment 110 is configured to be used to safely drag a victim to safety using the harness 120, the first-handle 124, and the second-handle 130. More handles may be used in alternate embodiments.
[00018] FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the safety garment system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the safety garment system 100 includes the garment 110 which may be used for effectively dragging a victim in a life- threatening environment. In a preferred embodiment, the garment 110 is a pair coveralls. The coveralls may be provided in a summer or winter design for around the year use. The garment 110 further includes a pair of patches 140 configured to be secured on top of both the first- handle 124 and the second-handle 130 and conceal the first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130. The pair of patches 140 are each substantially rectangular. The pair of patches 140 comprise a patch-fastener 142 which is configured to mate with a garment-fastener 144 located on the garment 110. The patch-fastener 142 and the garment-fastener 144 include hook-and- loop fasteners, snap fasteners, or other suitable fastening means. The garment-fastener 144 is configured around a perimeter of the first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 and is configured to receive the patch-fastener 142. [00019] Referring now to FIG. 3 showing a perspective view of the safety garment system 100 of FIG. 1, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As above, the safety garment system 100 may include the garment 110 having the interior surface 112, the exterior surface 116, the harness 120, the first-handle 124, the second -handle 130 and pair of patches 140. The first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 are configured to fold under the patch 140. The first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 are substantially flat on top of a shoulder during non-use. The pair of patches 140 comprise a material which is the same or similar to that of the garment 110. The pair of patches 140 are removeable from the garment 110 for use of the first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130. The patches 140 protect the first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 from flash fires and potential snags.

The harness 120 is configured to encircle legs and arms of the victim and provide strength to the garment 110 allowing a person to drag the victim. The harness 120 is connected to the first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130. The first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 include an opening suitable for receiving a hand for dragging the victim to safety using the first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130. The first-handle 124 and the second-handle 130 each comprise a length of flexible material. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.

Claims

CLAIMS What is claimed is new and desired to be protected by Leters Patent is set forth in the appended claims:
1. A safety garment system comprising: a garment having; an interior surface; an exterior surface; a harness; a first-handle; and a second-handle; wherein said garment is defined by a body having the interior surface and the exterior surface; wherein said harness is configured on said interior surface of said garment; wherein said first-handle and said second-handle are configured on said exterior surface and are positioned on opposing sides at a shoulder region of said garment; and wherein said garment is configured to be used to safely drag a victim to safety using said harness, said first-handle, and said second-handle.
2. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said garment includes coveralls.
3. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said garment further includes a pair of patches configured to be secured on top of both said first-handle and said second-handle and conceal said first-handle and said second-handle.
4. The safety garment system of claim 3, wherein said pair of patches comprise a patch- fastener configured to mate with a garment-fastener located on said garment.
5. The safety garment system of claim 4, wherein said patch-fastener and said garment- fastener include hook-and-loop fasteners.
6. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said patch-fastener and said garment- fastener include snap fasteners.
7. The safety garment system of claim 4, wherein said garment-fastener is configured around a perimeter of said first-handle and said second-handle and is configured to receive said patch-fastener.
8. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said first-handle and said second-handle are configured to fold under said patch.
9. The safety garment system of claim 8, wherein said first-handle and said second-handle are substantially flat on top of a shoulder during non-use.
10. The safety garment system of claim 3, wherein said pair of patches comprise a material similar to that of said garment.
11. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said pair of patches are removeable from said garment for use of said first-handle and said second-handle.
12. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said harness is configured to encircle legs and arms of said victim and provide strength to said garment allowing a person to drag said victim.
13. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said harness is connected to said first- handle and said second-handle.
14. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said first-handle and said second-handle include an opening suitable for receiving a hand for dragging said victim to safety using said first-handle and said second-handle.
15. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said first-handle and said second-handle each comprise a length of flexible material.
16. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said harness is built-in to said garment.
17. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said harness is configured to support a weight of said victim.
18. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said pair of patches are each substantially rectangular.
19. The safety garment system of claim 1, wherein said harness is approximately l-inch thick.
20. A safety garment system, the safety garment system comprising: a garment having; an interior surface; an exterior surface; a harness; a first-handle; and a second-handle; wherein said garment is defined by a body having the interior surface and the exterior surface; wherein said garment includes coveralls; wherein said harness is configured on said interior surface of said garment; wherein said harness is built-in to said garment; wherein said harness is configured to encircle legs and arms of a victim and provide strength to said garment allowing a person to drag said victim; wherein said harness is approximately l-inch thick; wherein said harness is connected to said first-handle and said second-handle; wherein said first-handle and said second-handle are configured on said exterior surface and are positioned on opposing sides at a shoulder region of said garment; wherein said garment further includes a pair of patches configured to be secured on top of both said first-handle and said second-handle and conceal said first-handle and said second- handle; wherein said pair of patches are each substantially rectangular; wherein said pair of patches comprise a patch-fastener configured to mate with a garment- fastener located on said garment; wherein said patch-fastener and said garment-fastener include hook-and-loop fasteners; wherein said garment-fastener is configured around a perimeter of said first -handle and said second-handle and is configured to receive said patch-fastener; wherein said first-handle and said second-handle are configured to fold under said patch; wherein said first-handle and said second-handle are substantially flat on top of a shoulder during non-use; wherein said pair of patches comprise a material similar to that of said garment; wherein said pair of patches are removeable from said garment for use of said first-handle and said second-handle; wherein said garment is configured to be used to safely drag said victim to safety using said harness, said first-handle, and said second-handle; wherein said harness is configured to support a weight of said victim; wherein said first-handle and said second-handle include an opening suitable for receiving a hand for dragging said victim to safety using said first-handle and said second-handle; and wherein said first-handle and said second-handle each comprise a length of flexible material.
