Abstract
The present invention, has been developed to reduce the pain perceived by children during intravenous blood collection and catheterization, which is one of the most frequently used medical procedures in children; in one piece and cylindrical form; is based on the firmly grasp the apparat with palms, which has a higher perceptual rate in the brain than in other parts of the body. Thus, it is concerned with reducing the perceived pain during application by changing the focal point of the child.
Description
APPARATUS FOR REDUCING VENIPUNCTURE PAIN IN CHILDREN
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to children's pain relief during intravenous catheterization and phlebotomy.
THE TECHNICAL KNOWN STATUS
Children focus on the injection site during intravenous interventions such as catheterization and phlebotomy, and experience intense pain. The information is delivered to the somatosensory cortex by the thalamus for further processing after tactile stimulus. This region of the cortex is organized on a somatotopic map, which is designed based on the sensitivity of body parts (Figure 1) (Adam John Privitera, 2018). Each part of body corresponds to a specific place in the somatosensory cortex so those body parts occupy different areas in the cortex. Lips, hands, feet, and sexual organs deliver more somatosensory projections than other parts of the body (Barrett, Brooks, Boitano, & Barman, 2010; Loseth, Ellingson, & Leknes, 2013). In other words, certain body parts, such as hands and lips, are sensitive and conduct pressure and vibration more than legs or shoulders (Adam John Privitera, 2018).
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The brachial vein is frequently used during phlebotomy or intravenous catheterization, and the children are asked to hold their arm straight and make a fist. At this time, by placing the
apparatus into the palm in such a way that the child can grasp, in this way firmly grasp the palm is provided; is based on the change of the focal point of the child by providing stimulation of each protrusions of the cylinder.
The child will be less pain relief will be provided with the grasping the apparatus, that can be easily used during blood collection or intravenous catheterization, with palm that vibration and pain in this area feels more intensely than other parts of the body.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION FORMATION
The invention will be applied in the case of the holding tight into the hand of children during intravenous catheterization or phlebotomy in hospitals It is suitable for using in pediatric clinics, pediatric emergency units, and in areas where intravenous catheterization/blood collection is performed in hospitals. Thus, it will be possible to reduce the pain caused by these procedures.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The invention has been developed for the reduction of pain, which is a serious adverse event during intravenous catheterization and blood collection in children. Cylindrical apparatus developed by researchers; has been developed to the extent that it can be grasped by children aged 6-12 years. It has been produced with no chemicals that will harm children.
The apparatus is a structure that 1.6 cm in diameter (1), 4 cm in length (2), cylindrical that ensuring maximize the contact in the palm of the hand, slippery and easily graspable. There are eight rows around, and 0,7 cm distance between two rows, five protrusions in each row, a total of 40 protrusions (3). There are 0.3 cm spacing between the two protrusions (3), each protrusion is 0.5 cm length, 0.5 cm diameter.
