- Client side edge routers do routing based on Application Identifiers which is sent via Options Field in Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPV4) header format using a unique Option number and the Option data field as the Application Identifier. Similarly for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPV6) packets Application Identifiers are sent using Extension Headers. Client side edge routers maintain the Application Identifier and associated routing information in a Content-Addressable Memory, and routing decisions may also be made taking into account other information as well available in the packet header like the source address.

Abstract
Here we have different client applications having unique Application Identifiers respectively. Client side edge routers do routing based on Application Identifiers which is sent via Options Field in Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPV4) header format using a unique Option number and the Option data field as the Application Identifier.
Description
Application Identifier Based Routing
In this invention we have different client applications having unique
Application Identifiers respectively. Client side edge routers do routing based on Application Identifiers which is sent via Options Field in Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPV4) header format using a unique Option number and the Option data field as the Application Identifier.
Claims
1. In this invention we have different client applications having unique
Application Identifiers respectively. Client side edge routers do routing based on Application Identifiers which is sent via Options Field in Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPV4) header format using a unique Option number and the Option data field as the Application Identifier. Similarly for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPV6) packets Application Identifiers are sent using Extension Headers. Client side edge routers maintain the Application Identifier and associated routing information in a Content- Addressable Memory, and routing decisions may also be made taking into account other information as well available in the packet header like the source address. The above novel technique of providing Application Identifier based Routing is the claim for this invention.
