Abstract

본 발명의 실시예에 따른 강재의 청정도 평가 방법은 강재의 시편을 마련하는 과정, 전기 화학적 방법으로 수소를 시편으로 침투시키는 과정, 침투된 수소에 의해 시편 표면에 발생되는 수포(blister)의 개수를 카운팅하여, 수포를 정량화는 과정 및 정량화된 수포 개수를 기준 개수와 비교하여, 출하에 적합한 강재인지 평가하는 과정을 포함한다. 본 발명의 실시형태에 따른 강재의 청정도 평가 방법에 의하면, 종래의 평가 방법에 비해 시편 표면에 수포가 선명하게 현출된다. 이에, 종래에 비해 강재의 청정도 평가에 대한 신뢰성이 향상되는 효과가 있다.

Description

강재의 청정도 평가 방법
본 발명은 강재의 청정도 평가 방법에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 강재를 고객사에 출하하기 전에, 강재의 청정도를 평가할 수 있는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법에 관한 것이다.
강재 내 예컨대, Ca-Al-O 계와 같은 산화성 개재물은 두드리거나, 구부리는 등의 가공시에 표면이 터지는 등의 난가공을 발생시키는 요인이 된다. 즉, 고객사에 출하시에, 표면 결함이 없는 상태의 강재를 출하지만, 고객사에서 가공시 국부적인 변형으로, 내부에 존재하는 개재물로 인한 결함이 표면으로 드러나게 된다.

용강 중 산소를 이용하여 청정도를 평가하는 방법은, 샘플링한 용강을 응고시켜 소정의 모양으로 가공하여 시편을 제조하고, 시편을 도가니에 넣어 고온으로 유지시키면서 진행한다. 이때, 용강 중 알루미나가 용해되면서 산소가 발생되고, 이 산소는 도가니의 산소와 결합하여 탄산 가스화되며, 탄산 가스의 농도를 측정함으로서 산소 농도를 측정한다. 이 방법은 용강을 샘플링하여 시편으로 제조해야 하므로, 평가를 위한 시간이 긴 문제가 있고, 극히 소량의 용강을 시편으로 제조하기 때문에, 제조되는 강재에 대해 대표성을 부여하기가 힘들다.
용강 중 개재물 크기를 이용하여 청정도를 평가하는 방법은, 광학현미경, 주사전자현미경(scanning electron microscope, SEM)을 이용한다. 이 평가 방법은 여러가지 석출물과, 산화성 개재물, 기공 등을 구별하여 측정해야 하기 때문에, 상당한 시간이 소요되는 단점이 있다. 또한, 광학현미경은 개재물의 크기나 분포는 알 수 있으나, 복합 개재물의 성분을 알 수 없고, 주사전자현미경은 개재물의 크기나 성분을 알 수 있으나, 다수의 개재물을 일일이 측정하기가 어려워, 복합 개재물의 크기 분포를 일일이 나타내기가 어렵다. 또한, 산소 농도를 이용한 청정도 평가 방법에 비해서도 극히 소량의 용강을 시편으로 제조하기 때문에, 제조되는 강재에 대해 대표성을 부여하기가 힘들다.
최근에는 초음파를 활용한 누설 자속 탐상법으로 강재의 표층하 결함을 검출하는 방법의 기술이 적용되었다. 이 평가 방법은 소정 크기 이상의 개재물 또는 결함의 경우에만 검출이 가능하기 때문에, 작은 크기의 미세 개재물을 검출하지 못하는 문제가 있다.

본 발명은 제조된 강재를 고객사에 출하하기 전에, 사용 목적에 적합한 청정도를 갖는지 평가하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법을 제공한다.
본 발명은 제조된 강재의 미세 개재물 수준을 평가할 수 있는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법을 제공한다.
본 발명의 실시예에 따른 강재의 청정도 평가 방법은, 강재의 시편을 마련하는 과정; 전기 화학적 방법으로 수소를 상기 시편으로 침투시키는 과정; 침투된 수소에 의해 상기 시편 표면에 발생되는 수포(blister)의 개수를 카운팅하여, 수포를 정량화는 과정; 및 정량화된 수포 개수를 기준 개수와 비교하여, 출하에 적합한 강재인지 평가하는 과정;을 포함한다.
상기 정량화된 수포 개수를 통해 상기 시편 내 개재물량을 예측한다.
상기 시편으로 수소를 침투시키는 과정은, NaCl 및 NH4SCN이 포함된 수용액을 마련하는 과정; 상기 시편을 상기 수용액에 침지시키는 과정; 및 상기 시편에 전류를 인가하여, 상기 수용액을 전기 분해 반응시키는 과정;을 포함한다.
상기 시편 표면에 발생된 수포를 정량화하는데 있어서, 상기 시편 일면의 전체 면적에 대한 수포의 개수로 정량화하거나, 상기 시편 일면의 단위 면적당 수포의 개수로 정량화한다.
상기 시편 표면에 발생된 수포를 정량화하는데 있어서, 상기 시편 일면의 전체에 형성된 수포의 개수를 카운팅하여 정량화거나, 상기 시편 일면에 형성된 복수의 수포 중, 기준 크기 이상의 수포의 개수를 카운팅하여 정량화한다.
상기 정량화된 수포 개수가 상기 기준 개수 이하일 경우, 출하 가능한 강재로 판단한다.
상기 수용액을 마련하는데 있어서, 상기 NH4SCN은 상기 NaCl 함량의 1/10 내지 1/7이 되도록 하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 수용액을 마련하는데 있어서, 상기 NaCl의 함량은 상기 수용액 전체의 1wt% 내지 10wt%인 것이 바람직하다.
상기 시편에 전류를 인가하는데 있어서, 1A/m2 내지 50A/m2의 전류를 인가하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 강재는, 몰드 내로 용강을 공급하여, 상기 용강을 응고시켜 주편으로 주조하는 과정 및 주조된 상기 주편을 압연시키는 과정을 통해 제조되며, 상기 강재의 시편을 마련하는데 있어서, 제조된 상기 강재의 일부를 절단하여 마련하거나, 한 차지의 주편 제조를 위해 상기 몰드로 공급하는 용강의 일부를 응고시킨 후, 이를 압연하여 마련한다.
상기 정량화된 수포 개수가 상기 기준 개수 이하일 경우, 출하 가능한 강재로 판단하는데 있어서, 상기 한 차지의 주편 주조 과정을 거쳐 제조된 강재에 대해 출하 가능한 강재로 판단한다.
본 발명의 실시형태에 따른 강재의 청정도 평가 방법에 의하면, 종래의 평가 방법에 비해 시편 표면에 수포가 선명하게 현출된다. 이에, 종래에 비해 강재의 청정도 평가에 대한 신뢰성이 향상되는 효과가 있다.
또한, 광학 현미경과 같은 복잡한 수단이 아닌, 간단한 카메라로 식별 가능한 이미지를 얻을 수 있다. 이에, 종래에 비해 강재 평가 방법이 쉽고, 간단한 장점이 있다.
그리고, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 평가 방법은 환경에 무해하며, 반응 시간이 짧아, 평가 시간을 단축할 수 있는 장점이 있다.

이하, 첨부된 도면을 참조하여 본 발명의 실시예를 상세히 설명하기로 한다. 그러나 본 발명은 이하에서 개시되는 실시 예에 한정되는 것이 아니라, 서로 다른 다양한 형태로 구현될 것이며, 단지 본 실시 예들은 본 발명의 개시가 완전하도록 하며, 통상의 지식을 가진 자에게 발명의 범주를 완전하게 알려주기 위해 제공되는 것이다.
도 1은 강재를 가공한 가공품에 있어서, 결함이 발생된 가공품의 일 예를 나타낸 사진이다. 도 2는 강재 가공시에 결함이 발생되어, 고객사로부터 클레임이 발생된 가공품에 있어서, 결함 부위를 촬영한 사진이다. 여기서, 도 2a 내지 도 2c는 서로 다른 고객사로 납품된 후 결함이 발생되어, 각 고객사로부터 클레임이 발생된 가공품에 대한 일부 영역의 사진이다. 도 3은 강재 가공시에 결함이 발생되어, 고객사로부터 클레임이 발생된 가공품에 있어서, 결함 부위를 주사전자현미경(scanning electron microscope, SEM)으로 촬영한 사진이다. 여기서, 도 3a는 가공품에 발생된 일 결함을 전체적으로 촬영한 사진이고, 도 3b는 도 3a의 일부를 확대하여 촬영한 사진이며, 도 3c는 도 3a를 일 방향으로 절단하여 촬영한 사진이며, 도 3d는 도 3a를 다른 방향으로 절단하여 촬영한 사진이다.
통상적으로, 강재를 제조하는 방법은, 용강을 응고시켜 주편으로 주조하는 과정, 주편을 절단 및 압연하는 과정을 포함한다. 압연을 마친 주편 즉, 강재는 고객사로 출하 또는 납품된다.
한편, 고객사로 출하되는 강재에는 그 표면에 결함이 없는 강재이다. 그런데, 고객사에서 최종 제품 예컨대, 자동차 제조를 위해 강재를 두드리거나, 구부리는 등의 가공을 실시하면, 도 1 및 도 2와 같이 결함이 발생되며, 이 결함들은 도 2 및 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이 구멍 또는 홀(Hole) 형태임을 알 수 있다. 이러한 결함은 특히, 난가공 또는 변형이 많은 가공 부위에 주로 발생되는 경향이 있다.
그리고, 결함 발생 위치, 강재의 종류에 따라 개재물의 종류가 다를 수 있는데, 예를 들어, 도 2a 및 도2c의 결함 부위에서는 CaO-ZrO2 계 개재물과 Al-Ca-O 계 개재물이 검출되었고, 도 2b의 결함 부위에서는 Mg-Al-O 개재물이 검출되었다.

도 3d 상에 표시된 '1' 위치, '2' 위치에 대해 성분 순석을 실시하였는데(표 2 참조), '1' 위치 및 '2' 위치 각각에서는 C, Mg, Al, Ca, Fe 및 O 원소가 '1' 위치와 '2' 위치 각각에서는 C, Mg, Al, Ca, Fe 및 O각각의 함량이 모두 다르고, '1' 위치와 '2' 위치 각각에서는 주로 Mg-Al-O 계의 개재물이 검출되었다. 상기에서는 주로 발생된 개재물이 Mg-Al-O 계 개재물이나, 검출되는 개재물의 종류는 강재의 조성 및 결함 발생 위치에 따라 다를 수 있다.
이와 같이, 가공시 발생된 결함은 강재 내 개재물에 기인함을 알 수 있다.
그러나, 상술한 바와 같은 강재 내 개재물의 존재 여부는 고객사에서 확인이 불가하기 때문에, 고객사로 출하하기 전에 강재의 개재물 수준을 평가하고, 평가 결과에 따라 출하를 결정해야 한다.
본 발명의 실시예에서는 종래에 비해 쉽고, 평가 시간이 짧으며, 신뢰성이 높고, 환경에 무해한 강재의 청정도 평가 방법을 제공한다. 실시예에 따른 강재의 청정도 평가 방법은, 제조된 강재 내 개재물의 정도 즉, 수준에 대한 것으로, 강재의 개재물 수준 평가 방법이라 명명될 수도 있다. 여기서, 강재 내 개재물의 정도는, 강재 내 존재하는 개재물의 개수를 의미할 수 있다.
본 발명의 실시예서는 전기 화학적 방법으로 강재 내로 수소를 강제 주입하여, 상기 강재 표면에 개재물에 의한 수포(blister)를 발생시킴으써, 강재의 청정도 즉, 강재의 개재물 수준을 평가한다.
이하, 도 4 내지 도 9를 참조하여, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 평가 방법에 대해 상세히 설명한다.

먼저, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 평가 장치에 대해 설명한다.
도 4를 참조하면, 실시예에 따른 평가 장치는 평가하고자 하는 피처리물이며, 음극으로의 역할을 하는 시편, 양극 역할을 하는 전도체(50) 및 전해질 역할을 하는 수용액(L)의 수용이 가능한 내부 공간을 가지는 수조(10), 수조(10) 외부에 위치되며 시편으로 전원을 공급하는 전원 공급부(20) 및 시편(40)과 전원 공급부(20)를 연결하는 전원 공급 라인(30)을 포함한다.
이하, 실시예에 따른 평가 장치를 이용한 평가 방법에 대해 상세히 설명한다. 이때, 평가 대상인 강재는 탄소 함량이 0.001wt% 이하인 극저탄소강 또는 자동차 제조에 사용되는 강재일 수 있다.
먼저, 시편(40)및 수용액을 마련한다(S110, S120).
여기서, 시편(40)은 제조된 상기 강재의 일부를 절단하여 마련하거나, 한 차지의 주편 제조를 위해 상기 몰드로 공급하는 용강의 일부를 응고시킨 후, 이를 압연하여 마련된다. 시편(40)은 소정의 면적을 가지는 형태로서, 예컨대, 100mm*150mm의 면적을 가지는 사각 판 형상일 수 있다.
실시예에서는 양극(+)으로서 기능하는 전도체(50)는 시편에 비해 노블(noble)한 금속 예컨대, 백금(Pt)일 수 있다.
수용액(L)은 전기 화학적 반응을 일으키기 위한 전해질로서, 실시예에 따른 수용액은 NaCl, NH4SCN 및 물을 포함한다.
실시예에 따른 수용액은, 수용액(L) 전체에 대해, NaCl이 1wt% 내지 10wt%, NH4SCN은 NaCl의 1/10 내지 1/7 포함되고, 잔부가 물이다. 이때, NaCl은 수용액 전체에 대해 2wt% 내지 5wt% 인 것이 보다 바람직하다. 그리고, 수용액이 pH 농도는 5 내지 7이 바람직하다.
이렇게, 시편(40) 및 수용액이 마련되면, 수용액을 수조에 장입하고, 시편(40) 및 전도체(50)를 수조(10) 내 수용액으로 침지시킨다(S200).
그리고, 전원 공급 라인(30)을 시편(40) 및 전도체(50) 각각에 전원 공급 라인(30)을 연결한 후, 전원을 인가한다(S300). 이때, 시편(40)에 양(+) 전류, 전도체(50)에 음(-) 전류가 흐르도록 한다. 실시예에서는 1A/m2 내지 50A/m2의 전류가 흐르도록 하며, 수용액의 온도는 15℃ 내지 30℃인 것이 바람직하다.
시편(40) 및 전도체(50) 각각에 전류가 흐르면, 시편(40), 전도체(50), 수용액(L) 간의 전기 화학 반응, 다른 말로 하면 전기 분해 반응이 일어나(반응식 참조), 수소 즉, H+ 가 발생된다.
여기서, 수용액 중, NaCl은 수용액(L) 내에서 전기 분해 반응을 촉진시키는 기능을 하며, NH4SCN은 H+ 공급원으로서, 물 즉, H2O와 만나, 산성 가수 분해(acid hydrolysis) 반응되며, 이에 H+ 가 발생된다(반응식 참조). 발생된 H+ 이온은 음극(-)인 시편 표면으로 흡착되어 상기 시편(40)으로 침투 즉, 주입된다. 여기서, (SCN)- 이온은 시편 표면에 흡착해 있는 H+ 두 개가 결합되어 H2 가스가 되는 것을 방지하여, H+ 농도가 감소하는 것을 방지한다.
반응식) NaCl + NH4SCN + H2O --> Na+ + Cl- + NH3·H2O + (SCN)- + H+
시편(40) 내로 주입 즉, 침투된 수소는 시편(40) 내 개재물에 흡착된다. 그리고 전기 화학적 반응 공정이 진행됨에 따라, 시편(40) 내 개재물의 위치에 수소가 계속 집적된다. 이에 시편(40) 내에서 개재물의 위치 또는 그 주변 영역이 집적 또는 흡착된 수소에 의해 팽창 또는 부풀어 오르고, 따라서 시편(40) 표면에 수포(blister)가 발생된다. 이때, 시편(40) 내 개재물의 개수가 증가할 수록 수포의 개수가 많고, 개재물의 크기가 클수록 수포의 크기가 크다.
이때, 상술한 범위 내에서 NaCl의 함량, NH4SCN의 함량, 전류 밀도 및 반응 시간 중 적어도 하나를 조절함으로써, 반응을 가속화시킬 수 있고, 이에 따라 평가 시간을 단축할 수 있다.
한편, NaCl이 10wt%를 초과하도록 너무 많게 되거나, NH4SCN이 NaCl의 1/7을 초과하도록 초과하게 되면, 수용액의 pH가 5 미만으로 급격하게 낮아지게 되며, 이에 따라 H+가 다량 발생되어, 고도한 량의 H+가 시편 내로 주입될 수 있다. 이에, 시편 내에서 개재물 뿐만 아니라, 그 주변으로도 수소 즉, H+가 집적됨에 따라, 개재물이 발생되지 않은 영역에서도 수포가 발생될 수 있다. 이에, 강재의 청정도 평가 신뢰성이 떨어진다.
반대로, NaCl이 1wt% 미만이거나, NH4SCN이 NaCl의 1/10 미만인 경우, H+ 발생량이 적어, 시편 내에 개재물이 다량 존재하나, 시편 표면에 수포의 발생량이 적거나, 발생되지 않을 수 있다. 이에, 강재의 청정도 평가 신뢰성이 떨어진다.
또한, 전류가 1A/m2 미만으로 너무 작으면, 전기 분해 반응이 충분이 일어나지 않아, H+ 발생량이 적어, 시편 내에 개재물이 다량 존재하나, 시편 표면에 수포의 발생량이 적거나, 발생되지 않을 수 있다. 반대로, 전류가 50A/m2 을 초과하면, 시편 표면에 피막을 형성하여 수소 흡착을 방해한다.
한편, 제조된 강재에는 그 표면에 결함이 발견되지 않았으나, 상기 강재와 동일한 조성 및 방법으로 제조된 시편을 실시예에 따른 전기 화학적 방법으로 반응시켰을 때, 도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 시편 표면에 수포가 발생될 수 있다. 그리고 도 6b를 보면, 복수의 수포들 중 일부가 일 방향으로 나열되어 있다. 이는, 주편을 압연할 때, 개재물이 그 압연 방향으로 부서짐에 따라, 수포가 일 방향으로 나열된 것이다.
이로부터, 강재 표면에 결함이 없더라도, 강재 내부에 존재하는 개재물에 의해 결함이 발생될 수 있음을 알 수 있고, 실시예에 따른 방법으로 강재의 청정도 평가를 용이하게 할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
그리고, 수포가 발생된 부분을 절개하여, 주사전자현미경(scanning electron microscope, SEM)으로 수포 위치를 분석하였다. 도 7a를 참조하면, 실시예에 따른 전기 화학적 반응에 의해, 개재물 위치를 중심으로 시편 표면 상측 방향으로 볼록하게 팽창된 것을 알 수 있다. 이는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 전기 화학적 반응에 의해, 시편 내 주입된 수소에 의한 것이다.
또한, 에너지 분산형 분광 분석(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy; EDS) 장치로 수포 발생 위치를 분석한 결과, 도 8a 및 도 8b에 도시된 바와 같이, Al-Si-Ca-Mg-S-O 계 및 Ca-Al-O 계 개재물이 검출된 것을 확인하였다. 이로부터, 수포 발생 위치에 개재물이 존재함을 알 수 있고, 수포 발생 원인이 개재물임을 알 수 있다.
상술한 전기 화학적 반응이 소정 시간 동안 진행되면, 시편(40)을 수조(10)로부터 반출하고, 시편(40) 표면에 발생된 수포를 정량화한다(S400). 여기서 수포의 정량화란, 시편 표면에 발생된 수포의 개수를 의미한다.
수포를 개수로 정량화하는데 있어서, 실시예에서는 시편 표면을 카메라로 촬영하고, 획득된 이미지를 이용하여 수포의 개수를 카운팅할 수 있다.
그리고, 수포를 개수로 정량화하는데 있어서, 시편 일면의 전체 면적에 대한 수포의 개수로 정량화하거나(도 9a), 이를 시편 일면의 단위 면적당 수포의 개수로 정량화할 수 있다(도 9c). 또한, 수포의 개수를 카운팅하는데 있어서, 시편 일면의 전체에 형성된 수포의 개수를 카운팅하거나, 시편 일면에 형성된 복수의 수포 중, 소정 크기 이상의 수포를 카운팅할 수 있다.
이에, 시편 일면의 전체 면적에 대한 수포의 개수로 정량화하는데 있어서, 크기에 상관 없이 상기 시편 일면에 형성된 모든 수포에 대해 카운팅하거나, 소정 크기 이상의 수포를 카운팅하여 정량화할 수 있다. 또한, 이를 이용하여 시편 일면의 단위 면적당 수포의 개수로 정량화하는데 있어서, 크기에 상관 없이 상기 시편 일면에 형성된 모든 수포에 대해 카운팅하거나, 소정 크기 이상의 수포를 카운팅하여 정량화할 수 있다.
이렇게 어느 하나의 방법으로, 시편 표면의 수포가 정량화되면, 정량화된 수포 개수를 기준 개수와 비교한다(S500). 여기서, 기준 개수는 가공시에 최종 제품에 결함이 발생되지 않는 또는 문제가 되지 않는 수준의 수포 개수일 수 있다. 또는 기준 개수는 고객사에서 클레임(claim)을 걸지 않는 수준의 수포 개수일 수 있다.
그리고, 기준 개수는 수포의 정량화 방법에 따라 달라진다. 즉, 기준 개수는 시편 일면 전체에 대한 기준 수포 개수이거나, 상기 시편의 단위 면적당 기준 수포 개수일 수 있다. 또한, 기준 개수는 크기에 상관없이, 시편 일면의 전체에 형성된 기준 수포 개수이거나, 소정 크기 이상의 수포들에 대한 기준 수포 개수일 수 있다. 이에, 기준 개수는 시편 일면 전체에 있어서, 크기에 상관없이 시편 일면의 모든 수포에 대한 기준 수포 개수이거나, 소정 크기 이상의 수포에 대한 기준 수포 개수일 수 있다. 또한, 기준 개수는 시편의 단위 면적당, 크기에 상관없이 시편 일면의 모든 수포에 대한 기준 수포 개수이거나, 소정 크기 이상의 수포에 대한 기준 수포 개수일 수 있다.
또한, 수포 정량화 방법에 따라, 이와 비교할 기준 개수가 정해진다.
즉, 시편 일면 전체 면적에 대해 수포 개수를 카운팅하여, 수포를 정량화하는 경우, 이와 비교할 기준 개수는 시편 일면 전체에 대한 기준 수포 개수이다. 다른 예로, 단위 면적 당 수포 개수를 카운팅하여, 수포를 정량화하는 경우, 이와 비교할 기준 개수는 단위 면적당 기준 수포 개수이다.
또한, 시편에 형성된 수포를 정량화하는데 있어서, 소정 크기 이상의 수포의 개수를 카운팅하여 정량화하는 경우, 이와 비교할 기준 개수는 소정 크기 이상의 수포에 대한 기준 수포 개수이다. 다른 예로, 크기에 상관없이 수포의 개수를 카운팅하여 정량화하는 경우, 이와 비교할 기준 개수는 크기에 상관없이 시편 일면의 모든 수포에 대한 기준 수포 개수이다.
상술한 방법으로 수포를 정량화면, 정량화된 수포 개수를 기준 개수와 비교하여, 상기 시편의 모재인 강재의 출하 여부를 결정한다.
즉, 정량화된 수포 개수가 기준 개수 이하인 경우, 상기 시편의 모재인 강재를 최초 타겟 고객사로 출하 한다(S610). 여기서, 최초 타겟 고객사란, 강재 납품을 요구한 고객사를 의미하며, 평가 대상인 강재는 상기 고객사의 요구에 맞는 조성으로 제조된 강재이다.
그러나, 정량화된 수포 개수가 기준 개수를 초과하는 경우, 최초 타겟 고객사로 강재를 출하하지 못한다. 이와 같은 경우, 시편의 모재인 강재를 폐기하거나, 평가된 청정도 수준의 강재를 활용할 수 있는 다른 사용처를 찾거나, 다른 고객사로 출하한다(S620).
상술한 바와 같은 방법으로, 시편 상의 수포의 개수를 통해, 강재의 청정도가 평가되는데, 상기 시편을 통해 청정도가 평가되는 강재는, 한 차지의 주편 과정을 거쳐 제조된 모든 강재일 수 있다.
한편, API(American Petroleum Institute) 용 강재는 송유관 및 원정 시설에 사용되는 재료이다. API 용 강재 납품시, 고객사는 수소 유기 균열 테스트(Hydrogen Induced Cracking; HIC Test)를 요구한다. 이 방법은, 강재로부터 샘플링한 시편을 H2S 가스 포화된 수용액에 침지시켜, 시편 표면으로 수포(blister)를 발생시키는 테스트이다. 즉, NaCl과 강산인 CH3COOH가 포함된 수용액에 H2S 가스를 주입하고, 여기에 시편을 침지시킨다. 그러면, H2S로부터 분해된 수소가 시편 내로 침투되며, 시편 내에 존재하는 비금속 개재물에 의해 팽창됨에 따라, 시편 표면에 수포(blister)가 발생된다.
이러한, 수소 유기 균열 테스트(Hydrogen Induced Cracking; HIC Test)는 강재 중심부의 중심편석, 표층부에서부터 1/4 위치까지 집적된 개재물 결함의 영향을 평가할 수 있는 방법이다.
그런데, 수소 유기 균열 테스트(Hydrogen Induced Cracking; HIC Test)에서 사용되는 수용액 중, CH3COOH은 강한 산성 용액이기 때문에, 시편 표면이 매우 심하게 산화되는 문제가 있다.
실험을 위하여, 실시예에서 전기 화학적 방법으로 평가하는 강재와 동일한 강재 예컨대, 자동차용 강재로부터 시편을 마련하였다. 그리고, 이 시편을 수소 유기 균열 테스트(Hydrogen Induced Cracking; HIC Test)로 방법으로 테스트 하였다. 테스트 결과, 수포가 발생되었으나, 강한 산성 용액인 CH3COOH에 의해, 시편 표면이 매우 심하게 산화되어 녹이 발생된다.
그리고, 시료 표면의 녹(rust)인 산화막과 수포 간의 구분이 명확하지 않아, 수포의 정량화 또는 평가를 위해서는 시료 표면을 세척한 후에, 입체 현미경으로 보아야만, 도 10과 같이 식별 가능하다.
이에, 수소 유기 균열 테스트(Hydrogen Induced Cracking; HIC Test)는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 방법에 비해, 시료 표면을 세척해야 하는 과정이 추가되므로, 평가 시간이 긴 문제가 있다. 또한, 시료 표면에 생긴 산화막으로, 산화막과 수포 간의 구분이 명확하지 않아, 입체 현미경으로 분석해야 하는 어려움이 있다. 그리고, 장시간 동안 인체에 매우 유해한 H2S 황산가스를 사용하기 때문에 환경적으로 방지하기 위한 장치도 필요하기 때문에 사용이 쉽지 않다.
강재 가공시 결함 발생 가능성을 평가하는 다른 방법으로서, 누설 자속 탐상법(Magnetic Flux Leakage)이 있다. 누설 자속 탐상법은 홀소자와 같은 자속을 전기적 신호로 변환시키는 자기센서를 이용하여 결함에 의하여 강재의 표면 밖으로 누설되는 누설 자속을 측정한 후, 측정된 누설 자속에 기초하여 강재의 결함을 검출하는 방법이다.
실험을 위하여, 실시예에서 전기 화학적 방법으로 평가하는 강재와 동일한 강재 예컨대, 자동차용 강재로부터 시편을 마련하였다. 그리고, 이 시편을 누설 자속 탐상법(Magnetic Flux Leakage)으로 테스트 하였다.
도 11에 나타낸 바와 같이 시편 표면에 특별하게 내부 개재물로 인한 결함의 흔적으로 의심되는 부분을 발견할 수 없었다. 이는 누설 자속 탐상법(Magnetic Flux Leakage)의 경우, 소정 크기 이상의 대형 개재물 또는 결함에 의한 틈이 존재할 경우에만 검출이 가능하기 때문이다. 이에, 누설 자속 탐상법(Magnetic Flux Leakage)의 경우에는 강재 내 작은 개재물의 존재 여부를 검출할 수 없어, 신뢰성이 낮다.
하지만, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 전기 화학적 평가 방법을 포함하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법의 경우 도 9에 도시된 바와 같이, 시편 표면에 수포가 선명하게 현출되며, 통상적인 휴대폰 카메라와 같은 간단한 수단으로도 식별 가능한 이미지를 얻을 수 있다. 따라서, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 평가 방법은 평가 방법이 쉽고, 간단한 장점이 있다. 또한, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 평가 방법은 환경에 무해하며, 반응 시간이 짧아, 평가 시간을 단축할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
상기에서는 평가하고자 하는 강재로 탄소 함량이 0.01wt% 이하인 극저탄소강 강재 또는 자동차용 강재를 예를 들어 설명하였다. 하지만, 이에 한정되지 않고, 다양한 조성의 강재의 적용이 가능하다.
본 발명의 실시형태에 따른 강재의 청정도 평가 방법에 의하면, 종래의 평가 방법에 비해 시편 표면에 수포가 선명하게 현출된다. 이에, 종래에 비해 강재의 청정도 평가에 대한 신뢰성이 향상되는 효과가 있다.

Claims (11)

  1. 강재의 시편을 마련하는 과정;
    전기 화학적 방법으로 수소를 상기 시편으로 침투시키는 과정;
    침투된 수소에 의해 상기 시편 표면에 발생되는 수포(blister)의 개수를 카운팅하여, 수포를 정량화는 과정; 및
    정량화된 수포 개수를 기준 개수와 비교하여, 출하에 적합한 강재인지 평가하는 과정;
    을 포함하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  2. 청구항 1에 있어서,
    상기 정량화된 수포 개수를 통해 상기 시편 내 개재물량을 예측하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  3. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 시편으로 수소를 침투시키는 과정은,
    NaCl 및 NH4SCN이 포함된 수용액을 마련하는 과정;
    상기 시편을 상기 수용액에 침지시키는 과정; 및
    상기 시편에 전류를 인가하여, 상기 수용액을 전기 분해 반응시키는 과정;
    을 포함하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  4. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 시편 표면에 발생된 수포를 정량화하는데 있어서,
    상기 시편 일면의 전체 면적에 대한 수포의 개수로 정량화하거나,
    상기 시편 일면의 단위 면적당 수포의 개수로 정량화하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  5. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 시편 표면에 발생된 수포를 정량화하는데 있어서,
    상기 시편 일면의 전체에 형성된 수포의 개수를 카운팅하여 정량화거나,
    상기 시편 일면에 형성된 복수의 수포 중, 기준 크기 이상의 수포의 개수를 카운팅하여 정량화하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  6. 청구항 2에 있어서,
    상기 정량화된 수포 개수가 상기 기준 개수 이하일 경우, 출하 가능한 강재로 판단하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  7. 청구항 3 내지 청구항 6 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 수용액을 마련하는데 있어서,
    상기 NH4SCN은 상기 NaCl 함량의 1/10 내지 1/7이 되도록 하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  8. 청구항 7에 있어서,
    상기 수용액을 마련하는데 있어서,
    상기 NaCl의 함량은 상기 수용액 전체의 1wt% 내지 10wt%인 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  9. 청구항 3 내지 청구항 6 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 시편에 전류를 인가하는데 있어서, 1A/m2 내지 50A/m2의 전류를 인가하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  10. 청구항 6에 있어서,
    상기 강재는, 몰드 내로 용강을 공급하여, 상기 용강을 응고시켜 주편으로 주조하는 과정 및 주조된 상기 주편을 압연시키는 과정을 통해 제조되며,
    상기 강재의 시편을 마련하는데 있어서,
    제조된 상기 강재의 일부를 절단하여 마련하거나, 한 차지의 주편 제조를 위해 상기 몰드로 공급하는 용강의 일부를 응고시킨 후, 이를 압연하여 마련하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
  11. 청구항 10에 있어서,
    상기 정량화된 수포 개수가 상기 기준 개수 이하일 경우, 출하 가능한 강재로 판단하는데 있어서,
    상기 한 차지의 주편 주조 과정을 거쳐 제조된 강재에 대해 출하 가능한 강재로 판단하는 강재의 청정도 평가 방법.
